Guest $iLk
Report released by the Cato Institute In George W. Bush's first term there was a 48.5% increase in discretionary spending. This is more than twice as much as the entire increase in Clinton's two terms (21.6%). George W. Bush's first term increases in spending have surpassed even Lyndon Johnson's entire presidency (48.3%). Reagan presided over a net CUT in spending of 9.5% when taking into account increased defense spending. Bush is inviting runaway inflation to our country which will undermine our economy in the long term. There is no excuse whatsoever for the gross abuses of our budget. Guest
I am NOT even going to get into this one. This whole subject pisses me off so much that you wouldn't believe it, and the illegal alien, I am ready to go down and join the Minutemen. THis is getting insane, and GW had better get his collective crap together pretty soon, or his entire base is gonna walk. I still support him on a LOT of issues, the war on terror being one, but this spending binge, and the Illegal aliens is going to be it for me pretty soon. Guest $iLk
I think it's time for another Republican revolution. Conservatives need to rise up and take back the Republican party from these neo-conservative fruitcakes.

Quite frankly, we need someone who is neutral in all areas (ALL AREAS) Not a democrate and not a Republican. Maybe a libitarien or someone who isn't part of either party. Things just got out of hand, and, although I support Bush on most of his issues, I am screaming impechment right now because he's FAILED to do anything about the damn Border... with each day that passes we get more illegal aliens, more DISEASES, more plagues, more illnesses that the united states DID NOT HAVE years ago because of vaccions and such. I want someone knew in office... not a democrat or a republican. This spending spree is erking me everytime I read it...

Since a person in the United States can't serve more than two terms as president, dosn't that mean they have less incentive to care about their voter base. Or is there another reason the president needs a voting base, or are you refering to the Republican party.
Grizzle
Aperson, A second term President is usually focused on creating a legacy. GWB doesn't seem to care, but what do you expect from a man who gets his direction straight from God?

Darkling
The only thing I'm going to say about this is that there's a lot of things that we've had to increase spending on that falls under "Discretionary Spending" Things like the extra Billions being spent on Airport Security. Things like Extra Police officers and overtime. Things like Relief for all the hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, flooding and other natural disasters. All of these things fall under "Discretionary Spending". They don't fall under National Defense. National Defense is what goes directly to the Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, CIA & FBI. They don't include things like extra cops to help out NY from Terror attacks. So go ahead and complain, I think he's done a great job keeping the economy going strong despite the war, dispite the Terror attacks, dispite the disdain that we get from the international community. Let's hear it for 11 Million Illegal Aliens awaiting King George's amnesty guest worker program! I've got a couple of Brazilians working at my house right now. Fixing stuff here and there. DR Horton, the company that built this house, recently hired them even though they don't speak a word of english because they can't find anyone to work. You guys don't seem to realize all the services that all these aliens provide. If every single person that didn't speak english fluently decided to leave the country today, we would be in economic ruin. Who's goig to take out the trash? Who's going to bus our tables? Who's going to tend to our gardens and landscaping? Who's going to clean our offices and homes? Who's going to work at the Slaugher Houses, Drive the trucks, pick the tomatoes and oranges? You? You're going to do that drudgery? I had to wait for weeks to get work done at my house because of the lack of labor. So what would have happened if even these guys were sent packing? Right now the unempleoyment rate is 5.4% and in some areas it's as low as 4%. When you consider that you will ALWAYS have around 2% unemployment due to transitional labor, 1% due to new entrants (such as college grads) and around 1% that stay perpetually unemployed (lazyness, won't accept offers, looking for **perfect** job) then what does that leave us? 1% REAL people looking for Jobs? Are the college grads going to fill those Trash positions? I'm offering 10 bucks an hour to work the phones, PLUS commissions and I'm lucky if I get 1 person every 2 months to take the offer. Guest $iLk
It's long been a cornerstone of conservatism to recognize that throwing money at a problem doesn't solve the problem. George W. Bush has thrown 60%+ more towards the Department of Education than Clinton ever did. Scores have not improved. George W. Bush has thrown billions towards the DoD - but we find out that most of it is siphoned off in no-bid contracts. I'm not going to clap and tell him he's doing a good job just because he's trying the tried and true liberal tactic of throwing money at a problem. We are not safer. Most penetration tests of airport security still succeed at least 80% of the time. The extra beuracracy hasn't helped anyone but the pocketbooks of unions. Guest $iLk
And if all the hispanics left the country, and there was a need for someone to take out the trash, clip hedges, etc. you can damn well bet the salaries would rise and you'd find people to fill those spots. The free market solves a lot - and just because you seem to view it as "menial work" from the base for your argument, doesn't mean that willing workers wouldn't have a field day jumping in on the demand factor. I'm not too good to clip hedges if I could draw $15 - $20 an hour doing it. [ 10-23-2005, 01:17 AM: Message edited by: Remo Williams ]
