There is also a link to a list of States which have enacted a law allowing residents to lock their credit file. I plan on doing this once Florida's takes effect on July 1st. Identity theft is the fastest growing illegal activity in the US. Having fallen prey to this myself, let me tell you, it is a mess and you wouldn't believe the hoops you have to go through to get things cleared up.
