Ford Mustang: they shoulda done this the first time

Recommended Posts

Remeber a few years ago when Ford went Retro with the mustang and redesigned it? Remember how the first year was ok and then the designers brains fell out of their heads and they started doing all those horrid angles?

This is what they shoulda done the first time.

No matter how you slice it, spin it, advertise it, etc etc, it's still a POS Ford

I have mechaniced alot of Fords in my lifetime and every one of them were engineered with outright stupidity. I'm talking knuckle busting, tool throwing, inventing new curse words stupidity. Want proof? Try changing the shocks on a (insert any year model here) Maverick. That is, If you can find one that hasn't rusted to the ground. The(insert any year model here) Mustang shared the same suspension. There goes another flying wrench.

Knocking a man's car is almost as bad as knocking his religion or politics. Watch it there Wolferz.

I believe there is a Car Karma. Some people have good luck with Chevy etc. (GM) and some people have luck with Ford etc. (Lincoln Merc). Some people just have luck with certain cars.

I had a 86 Escort that was a POS. I had a 89 Escort that had 108,000 miles when I bought it and had 258,000 miles when I sold it. I sold it to a kid that still drives it.

All that said ain't it purdy? They shoulda done that the first time. Large humpy hood extending beyond the big mouthy grill. The hint of the retro side scoops.

Can't wait to see one on the streets.

Does anyone see the old mustang lying underneath there?

The lines are there, the original mustang lines are right there, that's very nice.

Ford is finally coming around again, they go in waves, first it's good, then some engie messes with it and screws it up, then they go back and it all comes together.

I see the 65 stang in there, and it's quite obvious.

Nice, very nice.

Yea, I saw it.

But SC and Wolferz are right, its still a ford. I'll wait and see to judge it, but I bet it's gonna have its share of problems, just like every Mustang made since Shelby went under.

I can see the old mustang lines in there, like a rebirth in labor.

Gets another wrench ready for flight

I fear popping the hood on the thing because I know what I'm going to see...everything packed in in with a shoehorn.

On some of the older models You had to drill holes in the fender skirts to change the spark plugs.

One of thelate 90's small pickups had two sets of spark plugs and the motor had to be pulled out to change the second set. ROTFLMAO

Over-engineering??? or just sheer stupidity?

That's why I have always favored GM automobiles.

Since the late 80s, GM vehicles have been designed and built with the mechanic in mind.

IE: I changed the water pump on milady's son's 95 Monte Carlo in 20 minutes.

I resealed the intake Manifold on my 95 Silverado Pick up in 2 hours... with a bad back!

You can love a cars' styling all you wish, but tell me how much you love it after you have worked on it.

SC is right it is still a Ford, but the so is the new T-Bird. A Yellow convertible pulled up next to me this summer and I bout wrecked my car. I 'd rather have one of those than two Mustangs.

BTW has anyone seen the new Mazda RX8? If I ever get divorced (God forbid) That will be my first purchase.

You mean

This car?

Oh yeah, those front fenders are just wild, and I hear the car is a ball to drive, but forget about it in the snow, this thing won't go. But who is gonna drive their pristine gorgeous rotary engine sportscar out in the snow?

And this

cs_cragars.jpg

Is indeed enough of a distraction to get any red blooded american male to wreck his car, and in Yellow it is just wild.

I saw one of these things and it was like a 70 year old man driving it. Late life crisis?

Eh, the RX8 is ok. I wouldn't mind getting one and putting some mods on it.

Personally, my current dream car is the new BMW 330i. Those things are sweet cars; actually got to drive one once. Really magnificent vehicle.

If I had a million dollars, I'd get one and make it pretty. (Meaning I'd pimp it )

Anybody seen the new MG ZRs? I'm sure some of you over in Britain have. Are they any good? I haven't heard much about them over here in the states, minus their rally stats, which were mediocre.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the new Mustangs? I'm still set on getting a 1998 Mustang GT Convertible whenever I get up the funds...

Modifications would include a black rollover bar with brake light, double fin on the rear, Euro-lights, Cobra Rims, and a new sound system... - Hey I'm still young... maybe some neon lights underneath too...
