LostInSpace
Oh jack give it up already. What are you going to do next? Prevent kids from the reading the story of David and Goliath. Sling shots. Also, go after "A Christmas Story" as well while you are at it "You'll shoot your eye out kid" self mutilation with a BB gun.

weegee_101
Ummmmm, now, I'm no expert on the way our legal system works, but writing a nasty letter like that about a Judge's ruling is contempt of court isn't it?

stingray
quote:Originally posted by Wolferz: Nope, it's freedom of speech. So why can you get fined when you insult a police officer? Freedom of speech doesn't cover everything. Even on forums like this one you can't apply freedom of speech, because you still need to stick to the rules. Wolferz
I have never been fined for insulting a police officer and I've insulted a few. Besides, insult can't be given unless taken.
Soback
Yeah, pretty sure in US there is no such thing as a fine for insulting a public official. It's just something that the socialists dreamed up. Gotta mulk the money somehow. What Jack did is expressed his opinion. As long as he didn't write any lie and state it as a matter of fact, he has the right to express his opinion. ESPECIALLY about a public figure. This is one of the big things US was/is founded on. In some places in the world spitting on the ground will earn you a fine... I wasn't just talking about the US. Jack Thompson is fighting windmills and I doubt he's going to get taken serious. Guest Grayfox
you mean people have been taking him seriously? i think the guys a hack... an attention whore (pardon on that) and nothing else. i dont really see him doing anything about the fact that a kid (my lil stepbrother whos 15) can walk into best buy and buy the directors cut of SAW2 and not get carded, but if he goes to gamestop or EB games and tries to buy GTA they call out the marquis de sade and they grille the kid over hot coals... for some reason im thinking priorities are mixed up somewhere. stingray
My turn: Jack Thompson interview: The firebrand lawyer answers our questions quote:The problem was and is that the brilliant but reckless person who created the Sims (I forget his name) has openly and actively encouraged mods of his figures. That has led to all sorts of porn available on the web to kids. You know like the brothers who built the first flying machine (I forget their names)... And you know, all the gun manufacturers, their products have led to all sorts of violent crimes. No he's good, no really.
