In Eve.....Some times There just aren't enough rocks. And I'm not talking asteroids either.

Eve is no different than any other MMOG. The developers have suffered the same brainfart as every other MMO developer. They listen and cater to the players that squeak the loudest, even if it means screwing the little guys.

Oh BTW, Timber Wolf Corporation withdraws it's invitation to our friends on this board, due to the fact that TWC doesn't give out free ships to anyone for any reason. If you don't want to join us and help the corp then screw you. Get your Dreadnoughts yourselves ;

I quit Eve again after attempting to log on this past Friday, only to find that some Hackers had been trying to compromise people's accounts. So, CCP in their finite wisdom, decided to reset the passwords on the affected accounts. One being mine.

Then they sent out new passwords, through unencrypted E-mail.

Guess what? My new PW was no good and I couldn't even get into account management to change it. Three days of paid gameplay down the tubes. Oh well.

Eve was and is another grand idea executed poorly. As long as they are making money off of brainless suckers they will thrive but, I don't see that happening too much longer.

Ummm

Wolferz...

My corp had 8 people who couldn't log in after friday. Just today we've had 5 of them log in; and yes, I was one of them who was affected by the hacking, my password was reset, but I got in just fine

What do you think CCP should've done? Just let the affected accounts STAY and possibly cause damage to the server itself?

Umm... no... I don't think so... to be honest I'm GLAD they reset the PW's of those effected, it makes things a little easier

First of all,How would it have damaged their servers?

The only problem, that I can see from this event, would be people having their accounts stolen. At the very worst people could have had their characters deleted after being robbed of everything they owned.

My major beef was the fact that they sent new passwords through unencrypted E-mail. Passwords, like the one sent to me, that didn't work.

The E-mail also contained bogus links to the account management section of their website.

Let's face it, The honeymoon is over for CCP and Eve Online and the players are still paying to beta test a sloppy piece of code.

I don't expect to see any of you guys in the Eve universe so, The bottom line is I'm done with it. Period

I think it's more defecation than defination

You're right Nomad, I didn't lose that much game time. Doesn't make the game any less boring.

Still not an excuse for sending out new PWs via unencrypted E-mail and providing a non-working link to their website.

I was more concerned with my account details, such as CC info being stolen. Hopefully they have all that info locked down But, I'm not going to take that chance.

Sorry Cruis, I quit playing it. Too many holes in the combat system that allow pirates and other scum to blow you to pieces without repercussions. Even in what is supposed to be secure space.

One tactic comes to mind right off the bat...

If you fire on an innocent player, the cops and the local navy come after you, blowing up your ship.

Now, they gather a few buddies and go searching asteroid belts for miners. One guy takes the first shot at you, making him a criminal and a target for the authorities. The rest of his group now has free reign to fire on you without worrying about the cops shooting them. The first shooter is in a noob ship, so he loses what amounts to nothing. He pods back to the nearest station, gets a brand new noob ship and they go looking for the next victim in a mining ship that has no weaponry.

Stay away from this game Cruis. It's Crap with a capital C. Unless you enjoy spending hour upon hour watching a mining laser reducing asteroids to pebbles. Which is what you will be doing while you wait for your skill training timers to run their course.

It will take any new player in Eve two years to train up to a skill level sufficient enough to compete in the point and click space battles.

I can sum it up in one word..... BORING!

Goonfleet. SomethingAwful Goon Group. They provide ships/fleet support for massive battles in lawless space all the time.

Everyone should try EvE at least once. Even those who didn't like it can admit that. Some people find what they enjoy in this game. Other people find it too non-carebear.

There is no carebear-pvp once you get to higher levels.

You could've responded to my question a couple months ago, ya know Silk

A friend of mine and I created a corp three months ago.

I personally don't like Pvp in this game because it's solely based on who has more skill points in gunnery and what not, shields, armor, and stuff like that

In full, someone in a destroyer or cruiser doesn't really stand a chance in any engagements

I know this for a fact because when I was mining for my corp, we had two escorts, one in a BS and one in a destroyer, we had two idiots from AOI jump in (they LOVE going after unarmed ships, thats the only thing they are good at, and it shows) the first they went after was me

I must say though, it was very nice of them to not have much shields, because my second and third accounts are cloaked missile boats, took out both AOI BC's and they never became the wiser

The problem with this game is that to many people pray on unarmed ships, and to many people pray on those of us who don't play this game for the Pvp (I play it for the mining and the manufacturing, maybe the occasional rat hunt) I don't have the reflex's to play Pvp in this game (I do for UC becuase I've been playing that game for a long time, and know the physics)

Anyway, I've seen your corp before, in fact, two of your pilots saved my butt when I flew through unrestricted space once, an AOI in an interceptor kept going after my Armed Transport (Love these new transports)

Never did catch their names...

Anywho, perhaps when things with my corp begin to die down (we are dieing saddly) I'll consider joining yours. Just remember, not everyone who plays is good at Player vs Player, personally I don't like lossing a ship I spent four months of hard mining to someone who can only go after unarmed vessels (In my case, a mining vessel and two Bestowers)

Isn't that part of the defination of any MMO?

Now your insulting the SC by saying UCO is no different

Actually nomad, it's you who should refrain from saying that, since you obvioisly failed to to come to this conclusion: Did the thought ever occur to you that I based my opinion on what I've witnessed? I have been in wars before, as I've been in alliances before, I've always seen destroyers and cruisers get riped to shreads, I find it rather sad that you didn't come to THAT conclusion....

As example, during almost a year, the gatekeeper of 4/10 Mul-Zatah complexes dropped an Ashimmu BPC approximately at a rate of 1:10 when blowed up.

Kind of hard to hunt there when I haven't a CLUE where that is located. And just an FYI Nomad, I made a choice to stay within secure space for my own personel reasons: One being I don't like Pvp combat in this game(I'll support it, but I won't fight) right now because I don't have the current skills nor the right ship outfit. Yes I have a battleship but not the right outfitting for it

*cough*

As I've played Eve from autumn 2003(I don't play it anymore however, I quit on december), I could say something.

Cruiser can beat battleship easily. I used to beat up n0obs with battleships every second day in old man star mwd-fitted blasterax or a duramaller could work many battleships. Although my character had some skills. To beat up bs with cruiser the odds should almost certainty be pro(in cruiser) vs. n0ob(in bs).

It was funny to engage those battleships near gates as they almost certainly engaged me on my cruiser since I was outlaw and sentries wouldn't protect me.. However, if I was shot upon first, I could shot back.

Damn, all this eve talk makes me want to reactivate my account.. I wish I could.. *sighs*

Not to be contradictory but, Noobs don't fly Battleships in Eve. Due to the fact that it takes at least two months to acquire the license to even set foot in one.

Any AE in Eve that hasn't learned the subtle intricacies of floating point combat after a couple of months of play, deserves to lose a Bs to a cruiser.

Suffice it to say, everything in the game is balanced down to @ 8 places to the right of the decimal point. Which makes everything pretty much even.

You don't happen to be in WOR???

What's yer AE in Eve BTW nomad? I wonder if we've ever met there.. Mine was Zibun Ionic.

ps. most commonly used defination for n0ob goes like this(although the idea can be expressed in various ways):

n0ob = loses BS to cruiser and then gets publicly pissed about it and probably petitions to GMs about grieftactics(no matter how old character).

newbie = new player.

Well thats understandable nomad. I wish I would've gave away my character to someone who would've taken care of him while I am away.. Now I have trendemous step to take if I ever come back to eve, because his skill development isn't running

Well I guess having a 20 mil skill point dude is better than entering the game as complete newbie.

If I ever will...

That's the only thing i really dislike about EVe online so far, is that you can only have one character per account learning a skill at a time. That just aggravates a person like me who loves to experiment and have multiple characters.

This is actually one of the things that makes EVE exiting, is the fact that people can actually THINK and get around things. There's a fear of ACTUAL loss, not like most other MMOG's out there, where a loss or a kill really isn't a loss, because you're back at either 100% or at worst 90% of your former self.

A while back I headed up 10 SUPER CHEAP frigates and destroyers, while in a Black Bird Cruiser fitted with like 4 Sensor Dampeners. We had two guys scouting positions a jump or two ahead of us, when they would find something, we would get in position on the other side of the gate, they would tackle them with Warp Scramblers I would jump in and hit them with Sensor Dampeners to keep them from getting a lock on any of us, and the rest of the frigates would jump in and fire away.

We ended up blowing up 15 Battleships over a 4 hour period, and half of the guys in that fleet were playing for less than 3 months. So YES, with Strategy, Cruisers, Destroyers and Frigates CAN compete in this game. We ended up losing 10 Frigates and Destroyers (Usually one of the Tackling Frigs would get destroyed), but they were so cheap that our guys would clone in Torrinos and be back in the fight in moments.
