Ah, OK. I get it now

Anyway, I released the patch to the testers a few days ago. Usually I wait a week before releasing it to the public. I am currently working one or two more items and then I'll release. I want to catch+fix as much stuff as I can before releasing this one because the next patch will be the mp patch and in which all games are invalid. I don't particularly want the mp patch to contain existing and open bugs because it may have an adverse effect on mp.

Apart from that, because I'm working on two code bases, I have to merge common fixes into both of them. Not an easy task.

Is multiplayer still going to be released soon? Been a while since the last post. I've been trying to be patient, playing Morrowind (great game) but my Greedy FreeTrader Sci-Fi side is starting to take over and I cant fight him off... much... longer...

LOL I've never been on 56k, but I've been on 14.4k. I can't really know how 56k'ers feel, because the internet service I had sucked badly, and I had a p150 32mb ram at best.... then I got broadband... god I loved that

pah! back when I started out, if you had a 300 bps modem, you were it. In fact, I think I still have one of my 1200/2400 bps Hayes Smartmodems lying in a box around here somewhere.

...ah, those were the days...when most of the jackass idiots never could get online (...let alone get a date).

I had one of those 2400 bps too, same brand as yours. Then upgraded to 33.6. Then 56k. Then DSL. I through 56k was the greatest after 33.6. DSL rules. But today, anyone who doesnt have at least a 56k modem doesn't deserve to use the internet.

The DirectTV system is actually an affiliation with Hugh's Corp. DirectPC. The $500 satellite dish will pull in both DirectTV programming (anywhere from the basic $40/mo. service to $90/mo. bucks for the premium) and the Internet (an addition $50/mo.). This PC system can now do both downlink and uplink communication. The cost and relative newness of it has kept me away to date, but I keep feeling it lure. Here in the heartland cornfields, the best I can do is to pay $75/mo. for dual ISDN, which gets only a speed of 75kpps out of a theoretical 128.

If there are any Internet-Satellite geniuses (or anyone who can tell me how to milk out more bandwidth on ISDN, start a new Topic and let us share your wealth.

Most truly-rural homes don't have access to DSL, and a 56k dial-up or 128k ISDN has been the only thing avaliable.

Ahh I remember when they posted the list of the conected computeres and u had to dial long distance to talk to it. There wasnt an internet and what the hell was a server It was the golden age og the Hacker, it was fun talking to the FBI computer before they got wise and took them off the outside phone links hehe. Those of us who could program in binary were kings LOL ...

I just moved during the middle of May and I've been in DialUP since 5/24. While they did tell me that this area offered DSL; it turns out that it doesn't! At least not yet. As such, I'm going back to cable (1.5 Mbps down / 128 Kbps up) which is being installed this week, until DSL comes to this area.

heh, Mindspring/Earthlink tried to sell me theirDirectWay DSL satellite service (144Kbps / 144Kbps)for $300 in equipment costs and about $125/mnth!!! As opposed to cable which costs me $49.95 per mnth and free installation. When DSL comes, I'm switching again of course, as I don't bloody want to keep sharing the frigging connection with my probable porn+MP3 downloading neighbors.

Man, I'd forgotten how excrutiating 56K was (I barely get 44Kbps on connect) was until these past weeks. It's nerve shattering to say the least.
