Its not finished until you've textured it.

Once you get that done, send me the max and 3d files, along with the BMP textures and I'll put in the tags and send you a set of files which have your ship enabled in the game.

Make sure you also send along the specifications of the ship's gun and weapon control systems, along with the flight dynamics (e.g. is it as fast as a BC MK1 carrier or a Vandal fighter etc)armament, support ship complement etc which need to go in objdefs.scr and objclass.scr.

My turn!

It would be a fighter. If you've seen Cowboy Bebop, it would look like the Swordfish 2. And just as manuverable.

Stats:

Top speed: 2.8 kp/s

Guns: 2 wingtip guns, fast firing, nice damage, like 2 M2 Heavy machine guns. Or something like that. But then again, no machine guns on the fighters.

Missles: 2 missles max, 1 on each wing tip.

Sheild: Really low, but enough to take some damage. Say, 250

Armor: a nice amount, say, 500.

Pitch/Roll/Yaw: Fast/Fast/sloooow(so that rolling would be used more).

HJ transit: I dont really want a Hyperdrive...but I guess say...20 seconds?

HJ Recharge: Hmmm...20 seconds?

Main gun shots p/s: 10(a nice even number)

Main gun recharge: er...dunno

Main gun range: 5km? sounds about right

Min. Radar range: 1km

Max radar range: 100km(F-14 has a radar with a 100 mile range...I figure that in 3000AD, that they would have advanced that alot.)

I can see me getting right on top of the front of a LRT-15. Then, turning on the engines and taking off...sounds fun

Humm... What I would want would be something like an overgrown cruiser, designed for interception/ambushing...

1.75 - 2 KP/S

6-8 single mount turrets 150/350 rating

2x main guns, 40km range, recharge time of 150ms or so

30-60s transit time

45s recharge time

1500 shields, 1000 armor

20/25/20 PRY

1/200 radar range

8/8 officers

4/4 pilots

5/5 sysengs

2/2 fenengs

5/5 medics

10/10 marines

2x Starmonk

1x Shuttle mk1

No ground craft

2x cargo bays, 3500

2x weapon bays, 1500

1000/25000 Radine tank

500/5000 Plutonium tank

0/5000 Iridium tank

Anyone have thoughts on this?

ahhh designing your dream ship.....

i'd keep the BC MK I.I. with the following modifications:

*Bigger cargo for more Iridium storage

*More cargo space for questars

*The main gun has 4 cannons instea dof 2

*I would have 8 fighter slots

*Bigger hull size(probably the same as the MK 3)

*No Resnig

*Probably around 2000 shields and 2500 hull

of course with these modifications a new class would come about. dubbed the Invader-class.

still dreaming....

A ship the size of the BC mk3 with virtually unlimited size bays, 50000 marines, 50000 pilots, 25000 fighters, 50000 PTA turrets, 1000000 shield, 10000000 hull, and 10000 of every other person type, and then a 1 second jump speed and recharge time.

So, you would have 10000 prisoners and 10000 intruders? Wow wouldnt that be a pain in the arse if you forgot to turn off launch control and they all managed to steal a shuttle / fighter..

i would design a ship the size of a Stormcarrier with 9999999 shield, 9999999 hull, 9999999 fighter slots, and 9999999 RANDOMS! with a 0 second jump recharge and goes at speeds of 9999999!

or save a lot of time by making a ship with a super RANDOM that destroys all of the ships, planets, stations, and everything else in the universe and just wander around in the empty space

This looks almost like a perfect example of a light cruiser. Light cruisers are typically slightly less armed than a cruiser, have less armor, but are faster and more manuverable. In order for this to fit the CL description, however, the ship would need to have less fuel bunkerage (comparable to heavy cruisers) minus the fighters. Right now, it looks like it could be classified as a light carrier (think WWII "Jeep carriers"). Of course, you could do both with different class names. The CL would be perfect for screening large formations and the CVL would be excellent at convoy escort.

I've had a couple of ideas of my own concerning this as well.

Resolution class Heavy Carrier

The previous battlecruiser classes were determined to be equipped with substandard offensive and defensive systems. The RESOLUTION-class remedies these problems with the addition of 5 PTA turrets and 2 IOD main guns, this ship has been transformed into a battle cruiser with weaponry comparable to that of a larger super carrier with greater speed, but lesser armor. This makes the class is well suited for long-duration independent operations or as the center of large group formations.

With the improved offensive and defensive systems, the RESOLUTION-II can now stand up to the heaviest of battles and survive. Where previously an encounter with a STORMCARRIER was considered near suicide in a battlecruiser, the chances of the RESOLUTION coming out with the upper hand are far greater.

4 IOD/Range: 28.5km/Recharge time 375ms

4 Twin mounted turrets (8 in all)

Performance:

Hyper Drive/80 sec Transit/110 sec Recharge Time

Max Speed: 1.30 kps

Pitch: 13 Degrees/sec

Cargo Bay (x2): 7000 each

Weapons Bay (x2): 2500 each

Radine Tank: 25000

2 HAV

Crew:

8 Officers

8 Pilots

10 Sengineers

10 Fengineer

Capacity for 10 guests and 10 prisoners

I'd love to make it myself, but I have no shipyard. 3DS Max and a new computer to run it with just isn't in my budget for the forseeable future. Perhaps one of these days.

You can use Playmod to have all your crew AI at 100. Check the GBS forum for the Playmod thread.

C'mon SC, I wouldn't want to CHEAT to get my AI high, although a modded super-ship that has the crew automatically there wouldn't be cheating, just good military training...

The Sunflash....

with a cloaking device.

Swap SCMK3 for SCMK1

I'd be in heaven. The Sunflash is the ultimate destroyer. Fast, deadly to fighter swarms, and can fly into the turret gaps so fast the victem breaks his own neck just trying to watch you. With a cloaking device it could take out starstations.

I dare say I could secure a system most quickly in one of those!

Just out of curiosity.....

Is it possible to "tweak" existing craft in an unsupported aftermarket fashion? In other words... hacking... Not a request for SC to change anything or do more work to his already superior game.

Just wondering if a commander could modify his ship were he to learn sufficient coding skills.

While I am no good with numbers and stats I'd just like to toss in that one extremly large ship would be cool. Not that the ships aren't large now, but I mean, like something that is massive and CPU sucking. Honestly, I think I'm just looking for something that will bring my new computer to it's knees.
