Message Follows: ******************GCV Usagi******************To anyone that may be listening, this is Galactic Command Vessels Usagi, Commander Londono speaking.The Usagi was on patrol duty when we received a distress call from a Droidian transport convoy. The message was not clear as to who the attackers were, so we made haste to assist.Upon arrival we found the remains of the convoy, charred hulks and twisted metal drifting in the void. As we approached the wreckage, our sensors picked up a ship heading directly for a nearby wormhole. The ship had no IFF signal, in fact, it had no FF signal at all. The Usagi cloaked and followed the ship through the wormhole, through several systems and into Null Space, where the ship finally slowed down, allowing us to catch up with it and get a visual reading. Visuals confirmed a Galactan Battlecruiser, its speed and firepower (as witnessed by the result of the attack on the convoy and its escorts) suggested it was a fully upgraded Galactan BC. There was no FF signal yet, so I ordered the Usagi within .4 kliks of the vessel. As we closed in, visual sensors identified the markings on the ship. They read: "EDGECRUSHER". A few seconds later, 10 MRT transports with Raider ID signals entered Null space. The Usagi inmediately pulled out to a safe distance of 6 kliks and observed. The transports assumed a box formation around the EDGECRUSHER and turned off their engines. The EDGECRUSHER then began releasing cargo pods, which the raider transports took turns collecting. At that time, I had ordered my ship to get as close as possible to ID the contents of those pods, but alas, as luck ran out on the Usagi, a tranport captain decided to pick the pods in the area we were in. The resulting collision between the MRT and the cloaked Usagi revealed our presence and the remaining MRT's powered up and attempted to flee Null Space.I had expected a battle with the EDGECRUSHER, but instead I was amazed to see the EDGECRUSHER turn around and blow the MRT's to kingdom come, ignoring me and my Interceptors completely. The EDGECRUSHER's IC's were not going after any of the Usagi's support craft, they went after the pods instead, destroying them one by one. The Usagi's Shuttles raced out to pick as much pods as possible before the EDGECRUSHER's IC's destroyed them. We managed to salvage one pod before the IC's reached the Shuttles. As the EDGECRUSHER then began to fire on the Usagi, I decided to bug out and learn as much as I could about this mysterious ship. The Usagi was about to exit Null Space when several Vagrants smashed into the Usagi's engines, disabling them completely. I turned the ship around, intent on doing as much damage as possible to this hell-sent vessel before the inevitable when the EDGECRUSHER simply stopped in front of us and transmitted a message 3 times before leaving Null Space (and us unharmed and disabled in it).We opened the pod we had recovered and found similar messages like the one's the EDGECRUSHER had relayed to us. NOT TRUE Besides, I can only type stuff on the evenings, when no one is in the PC lab *and the wards are nice enough to remove the straps from the loony suit so that I can type* *demented laugh* (Ok, im still kidding..or am I?)Those were Illegal Tapes because they contain revolutionary/protest songs against some entities in the BC3K universe. My favourite is the Earthcom song ("Invade and encompass, to judge and dissect... to serve and protect!"). The Wraith Campaign will be out a few weeks after the release of the editor and a few weeks after I figure out how to use it.Axim: That reason will become apparent in the campaign... but just so you may begin to conjure up your own hypothesis about the why: Look at the songs, read em... read Derek's comments... apply them to the EDGECRUSHER's skipper. Be silent and you shall learn! :-)To Fleet Leaders:I am planning the Wraith Campaign in paper right now. I have separated the storyline into "acts". So far I got 4 acts, you just saw a brief preview of the first act in this thread. If any fleet wishes to be included in the storyline please tell me 'cause I want to keep the Fleet "modus operandi" motif. With this in mind, Tac would have had a full head of hair, and could have gone anywhere he chose to go, without fear. Guest Posted November 18, 1998 Report Share Posted November 18, 1998 Hehe, Derek:The Songs of the Fleets (I guess I misused the word "Hymns", but gimme poetic license on that one...) were not sung by the crew of my ship... they were found inside the illegal tapes..and we played those tapes after the incident (cant hear that stuff in battle!! I might miss my officer's screaming "Marines Ready For Combat Deployment"... thats an important info!!! CANT MISS IT! *GRIN*). Like I said, the reasons will become apparent once I get my hands on that editor..and once I think a reason for it (storyline is on the drawing table now).Patience little grasshopers...
