------------

The bridge was a familiar and comforting sight. The expanse of the enormous room still filled him with a kind of familiar awe. A form of pride, perhaps. He was certainly proud of his ship.

The entire bridge crew turned as the doors opened. The two marines escorting him took a step back, before saluting. As one, the rest of the bridge copied. An entire room full of people saluted.

DeSylva smiled.

"At ease," he said, and the familiar murmur of voices and electronics flooded out of the room to engulf and surround him. He strode out to the center of the bridge, and saw several command chairs descending to meet him.

He shook the hand of each officer as they greeted him. It had been a long time since he had walked on this particular bridge. But now he was back. Now he was home. He thanked them in turn, before grabbing his own 'chair, descended and waiting for him. Feeling more carefree than he had in a long time, he gripped the edge of the chair, and vaulted into it, landing heavily. He heard a few sniggers. He turned in the general direction of the sound, and a few communications technicians fell strangely silent.

With a few quick key-presses, the command chair began the long rise to take the top-most and center position in the air above the floor of the bridge. Slowly, DeSylva lowered the VR visor to his face. The bridgeviewer sprung to vibrant life before him. The sound of communications chatter intensified for a moment, before becoming filtered and clear. The voices of his officers were filtered through, from the bridge, as well as from engineering, operation, and the medibay.

He smiled one more. Then grinned. Then laughed, before touching a communications button.

"Set course for Saturn...we leave when ready."

It was good to be home.

Yes folks, I'm BACK! And in a big way. My desk job is over; the GCV First Light is out of mothballs and is shakeing down around Saturn, taking pot-shots at Raiders to clear out the last of the cobwebs.

The ISS is making leaps and bounds around Saturn as they build their facilities, and a complete remake of their web page is in the works, as well as a membership drive.

As well as this, we have several projects happening in the RP universe. These are:

1) The Mystery Project.

I am looking for all fans who have personal messages of congratulations to convey to Derek Smart. They are needed for a mystery project I am working on. If you have been around commlink awhile, if you enjoy RPing (all messages would be sent by a commlink and would be fully roleplayed) and you are impressed as I have been by the patches (and as we will be, I'm sure, when the 2.01 patch comes out), then contact me, and I'll send you more info about what I need.

2) Timeline

All commanders who RP, and I mean ALL, I need your personal histories and timelines. I have mentioned it in another thread, but I am reiterating it here. With the release of V2.0 there is going to be a lot of script building. We want these scripts to fit in with the RP universe, so I am creating a timeline to try and sort out the tangled history of GALCOM, the UFN, and the universe in general. So send me your timelines!

3) Starstation: Cavalier

It's here! The project I have been working on. Starstation: Cavalier is a fan site. Phase 1 is up, at http://members.tripod.com/~cavalier_station . Check it out! I still need staff - artists, CGI/PERL scripters, and journalists from all three groups (GC, EC, and Insurgent) to join the team. And this I going to be a team effort 'cause I'm not going to have tie to maintain it by myself after the new year (just see when the First Light pages were last updated if you doubt me...*grin*). So check the site out, let me know what you think, and consider joining the team!

It's great to be on holiday, and it's great to be back here with you all at such an exciting time, as we look towards the release of the 2.01 patch and (hopefully this century) the Game itself.

Yours,
