"Cmdr., it's much the same as all the other systems. The Emperians were no better against the Gammulans than the Vesperons. Unless we find them in Tramis, sir, only the EARTHCOM forces in Centris will be there to stop their forward momentum. Sir, the only thing registered in Pluto is the planet's ODS and Gazer 1. It's a science Starstation, Cmdr. with little protection." The Lt. was noticeably stressed.

"I know, Tactical, but that's not our responsibillity. Either DeSylva has recognized the problem, or Earth is about to be enslaved. Let's hope DeSylva has the presence of mind to foresee GALCOM's mistake. Why they trusted EARTHCOM to lock the back door is beyond reason." The crew could hear the strain in Akira's voice. They were all there when EARTHCOM bombarded Scorpia without warning. GALCOM wouldn't accept Cmdr. Akira's report citing EARTHCOM had been stripped of their abilities in that field. Akira secretly hoped the Gammulans and EARTHCOM destroyed each other at Centris but he knew that EARTHCOM forces didn't handle frontal attacks ver well.

"I'm going to my quarters, I suggest you all do the same. We've got at least an hour before we reach Tramis. Let's all take a break. After Tramis the real work begins."

"Incoming probe from Raven-X. We're receiving a tigh-tband transmission."

"Transfer to me, Comm." Akira read the report from Cmdr. Re'trat. He hated being right. "Belay the break people. Nav., compute a flight path to Centris. FO, bring up the engines. We need to be there now." The crew reported with military precision. Akira didn't hear their response. Already planning to be the only Terrans to meet the Gammulan force in Pluto, he attached his will and those of his crew to the Nevermore's distress beacon.

The Nevermore completed the five hyper events to Centris without event. The Gammulans left the same wave of destruction along their path as they did in the prior systems. The familiar flash enveloped the bridge as the systems reset upon passing through the jump point. Akira pressed his finger against the console before him. His chair made a humming noise and wrapped itself around the Commander. A small lens between his feet lit and the virtual controls appeared all around him. He tapped his middle finger on the palm control.

"Strike Group Raven, cut off cloak engines and power up weapons." The rest of the bridge systems came online. Good thing the Gammulans didn't mine the jump point, or they would've cooked us like we did them at Polaris 2, he thought. "Tactical, report!" The Lieutenant's face appeared in the air in front of him.

"They're all gone, sir." The tactical officer cleared her throat. "Sorry sir, Warmage disabled. Four battlecruisers destroyed. 40 fighters and support ships destroyed. No sign of Raven-X sir, the debris suggests another ten Gammulan warships destroyed. That makes 60 warships and 30 cargo craft have made it as far or farther than Pluto."

"Raven Group, all stop." Akira could feel the other five ships halt their motion through his command link. "Comm., transmission burst code 7-0-3." A single ping emanated from the Nevermore. Something large shimmered fifty meters from the formation and the Lightspeed appeared. "Glad to see you're still here, Re'trat. Take up position within the star. Your designation is now Raven-07. Strike Group Raven proceed to Pluto at best speed and good luck Commanders. We're about to show the enemy what a determined and tactically superior force can do to their ranks!"

Akira could feel the jump engines of all 7 craft charge and release at once. He settled himself in hyperspace remembering that he'd also feel every hit they took in battle and started thinking again. Why the large grouping of cargo ships. They've shown no sign of picking up the stray cargo pods. There was a fortune to be made on this route and the Gammulans just left it floating in space. Perhaps Cmdr. Chavik's people will have the opportunity to pick up the spoils of this war. If he's still alive.

Akira closed his eyes and slipped into the ships systems. The Strike Group felt like an extension of his will. He thought and the 6 ships closed their star pattern around him. With each craft positioned just five km from his own, he could coordinate each salvo of IOD and PTA bursts and effectively turn the group into a single warbird with seven times the firepower of anything out there. He thought again and Raven Group expanded like an opening flower. From this position he could vector 7 vagrants to explode on a single point at the same time. In essence he was in command of a group stealthier but no less powerful than a star. Akira hoped it would be enough.

Locke was preparing to signal Desylva for transfer of Commander Rattler when a distress signal came on screen. A nearby Wraith BC was in severe danger and Locke's was the nearest ship.

With a nod from Rattler, Locke turned to face his crew.

"All right people this is what we've been waiting for. Wiggin, I want IOD at an even 40% and PTA charged and ready to go. Load up the Ralix's and keep Vagrants on standby. Launch ICs 2 and 4 and recall 1 and 3. Have the Interceptors join Chavik's Maelstrom maneuver against the Gammulan command ships. Fenster, have the remaining Raider ships work with the other Insurgent fighters with carrying out strikes against the Stormcarriers. Kim, I want marines on standby as usual, we've been spared an intrusion so far but we can't rely on that luck holding. D'evereaux, set us a course to jump in the middle of that cruiser formation. Now, people!"

Locke smiled grimly. The cruisers were battering away at a Wraith BC, and had assumed an almost stationary posture as the damaged cruiser attempted to limp away. At All Costs jumped directly in the center of 4 Gammulan cruisers and multiple fighters of assorted types, and opened fire with PTAs and Ralixes.

As usual, Locke took helm control of the battle and personally directed IOD fire. It had been a tradition for Locke to lead at least one battle in any given engagement himself; it kept his blood pumping and made him remember he was as much a part of the ship's crew as any. While the PTA disabled one cruiser and sent the reactor of another into meltdown, Locke aimed the nose of the ship at the rear of a third. He activated comms and transmitted broad-band,

"My dear Gammulan friend, please look behind you."

Surely enough the cruiser turned to face At All Costs, and Locke murmured a curse as he unleashed an IOD volley directly into the cruiser's bridge, engulfing the ship in flames and venting gas.

It brought Locke no pleasure to kill, but seeing another enemy to Earth who had attacked without warning or provocation destroyed brought him a satisfaction borne in relief. Locke turned over command back to D'evereaux at the helm, and watched with another grim smile as he finished off the remaining cruisers and fighters in the formation.

With the Battlecruiser out of danger, and Locke's warrior spirit satisfied, he turned his attention to the GCV First Light, which had jumped to join him.

"Well, Commander Rattler," said Locke. "Having you onboard has been a rare pleasure, and if you could stay longer and the circumstances were less dire, I'd invite you for a second round of drinks and perhaps a game of cards. However, we have a lull in the combat now and if you wish to relocate to Desylva's ship now seems to be the best time. Finally, sir, let me remind you that although you have lost your flagship, and a fine vessel she was, as long as I live you will have a place on At All Costs and no doubt every other Insurgent ship in the galaxy. You brought us to where we are today, sir, and we will not soon forget it. Comms, signal Desylva for confirmation of transfer ops."

Sir, whe're being hailed by the TCV Shogun, Cmdr. Ristar is asking a number of vessles to meet at the Neptune-moon Callisto. Some sort of undercover operation of Galcom has been overrun by Gammulan forces.

-Set immediate course for Callisto, we're breaking out of the Wriath-formation, notify all surrounding BC's we're going in, give all our IC's and Shuttle the RTB-command. Engage!

Cmdr. TwoBombs, GCV Aurora II

Okay Ristar, we may have a problem. I'll be working during your meeting, I think. I'll be available from 7pm Australian Eastern Time Friday night - that's about, umm...well, we're +10 here, so I suppose it would be 9:00am Friday GMT, I think. And I'll be availabe from then, pretty much until 8:00am Saturday Morning Australian, which is somewhere around 10:00pm Fridat GMT, if my calculations are correct (I an set my alarm and get up any time during that stretch).

Verify my times (make sure i've worked them our right!), and then email me with what time you want the meeting to be. If we can't find a time to suit, email me the info I need.

And without further ado...

<RP>

Space was quiet. The stillness was unnerving, thought Lieutenant Gary Renwick, as he turned his Interceptor through a smooth dive, looping around the jump point. And flying a standard patrol was so boring, he thought with a little more fervour. It was bad enough being assigned to Station duty until a position in a capital ship came up - bad enough that his marks hadn't been high enough to make him any more than a glorified security guard with a cool ship. But finally, when a REAL conflict had come up - they had ben sat at the opposite end of the system.

Must've been to make sure they didn't get in the way, he thought with disgust.

The occasional comment issued through his commlink from the other three ships in his squadron. They were flying off the GCV Adelaide, an older model Galactan Battlecruiser - another ship full of people too old, too young, or too bad, to take a starring role in GALCOM's affairs.

He sighed, as he engaged the jump engines and felt his Interceptor surge forward, hurtling through hyperspace towards the next jump-point in his pattern. It was then that all hell broke loose.

the sudden burst of static jolted him to full awareness, as he heard the voice of Mother, the Adelaide's computer, broacasting repeatedly. "Incoming ships detected. Combat Alert. Incoming hostiles detected." This was followed by the voice of the Adelaide's tactical officer.

"Holy sh--"

A sudden hubbub of voices filled the commlink, before the voice of the elderly commander of the Adelaide cut through the chatter. "Give me a report, lieutenant!"

There was a moment of silence, but with a growing feeling of horror, Gary Renwick realised that he didn't need to hear the report - he could see his radar telling him what was happening, as it filled, slowly, red blip by red blip. He froze. Through the static, the voice of the Tactical Officer was heard again.

"Sir, we have multiple bogies inbound! We have traces on 50 - no, make that 60, 60 warships and support craft as well. That's 60 warships - and they're jumping, sir!"

Renwick could see multiple jump anomalies forming around the tiny fleet -ships recruited from the remnants of GALCOM starstation security forces. Within the center of each glowing white field, small black specks were forming - capital ships. Gammulan capital ships.

Renwick's freeze ended, as the first screams sounded. Some of their tiny Terran force hadn't even had their shields up., and the first blasts lit up his cockpit from the right as a Gammulan Violon began pounding the unshielded hull of another Galactan. Renwick's eyes narrowed, and he gripped the controls firmly. He heard his tactical co-pilot's surprised yell as they swung around viciously, and began accelerating towards the fray.

Within five minutes, time had ceased to matter for Renwick. Somewhere deep within himself, he marvelled - this was the absorption, the fighter's trance, that he had always been told about, but never been able to experience. He jerked the controls and his Interceptor veered away as his lasers shredded another fighter-craft, and he found himself facing another capital ship. This one with it's shields down. He pushed his laser settings up, and dived low, strafing the unprotected hull with laser blasts. He grinned as he saw a turret explode, picked from the hull by his lasers. Then, he was pulling up, lowering his laser intensity, and circling to face another fighter. Two more screams souned over the commlink - two more green dots blinked off from the radar screen. Two more capital ships destroyed. Renwick realised there was little hope for them. They were outnumbered and outclassed. There was little left for them now.

Little, that is, but to fight.

Renwick smiled, a grim smile, as he turned to face the nearest ship - a Stormcarrier, the pride of the Gammulan fleet. It's shields, too, were shredded, but while the Gammulans may have lost shields, the few remaining Terran fleet ships had lost everything - including their lives. Renwick's smile continued, fixed in place. It was the smile pilots knew as the smile of death.

His voice was flat as he broadcast to his co-pilot. "Tell my family that I loved them dearly." His voice caught in his throat.

"Wha-? Ren - Aaaaaargh!!"

The scream disappeared, and Renwixk felt a thud as he ejected his co-pilot, then, he turned his Interceptor, alarming and counting down to it's self-destruction after the ejection, and held it. Bearing down towards the Stormcarrier. His eyes searched desperately for the land-mark he knew was there - the blister at the end of the front hull division. It finally swung into view, as the count-down timer ticked further towards zero.

It was time for them to matter.

The explosion, as his Interceptor hit the Stormcarrier's bridge, and tore it apart, was a fitting memorial.

"Commander, we have a problem," announced the Comms, officer. DeSylva turned to face her in her command chair.

"What, Kerra?"

"Sir, I am unable to regain contact with the forces stationed in Pluto. They are still not replying to any signals. And the At All Costs has just hailed us. For some reason, they want permission for the Insurgent leader to fly over here, sir."

DeSylva stopped breathing for a moment.

Rattler, my dear old friend.

He remembered Rattler - a man he had looked up to more than any other - a quiet hero, that had transferred to GALCOM at the same time as himself. A man he had become friends with - perhaps the first, and best friend, he had ever made in the military. Apart from his wife. Rattler had been a man that DeSylva had believed, was so much like him.

And then, came the betrayal.

DeSylva had tried to suppress all memory of the frienship they had shared, of the respect he had once held, for the new Insurgent leader - the man he had once known as Rattler, but now only knew as Insurgent One. But, if this battle had taught them all anything, it was that some people did not change - no matter what flag they marched under. Perhaps, it was time to start learning a few lessons himself.

He nodded. "I'll be on the Flight Deck in five minutes. I'll meet him there."

Kerra nodded. "A marine escort, sir?"

DeSylva thought for a moment. He thought about things - about concepts such as honour, and trust. And most of all, he thought about meeting a friend who he had believed, for so long, that he had had no choice but to abandon.

"No. I'll do ths on my own."

</RP>

Well, there we go - sorry it's rushed, but I've got to get some sleep, I start work early tomorrow (6:30am - God I LOVE shift work! *grin*). Ristar, let me know what's happening with the meeting, as well! This thing may wrap up soon...but then again, there's always someone with an ace up their sleeve...

Yours,

Commander DeSylva

"Lock P.T.A and Fatal systems on Warmonger's aft section and prepare to fire on my mark!"

The firing solution was directly piped in through Commander Wolf's VR unite, he could see the warmonger coming to bear on the ECV Memphis trying to bring as much fire power as possible in order to finish off the crippled Memphis.

"Sir, there is a Aestorm coming in on our bow, it will be in firing position in one minute repeat one minute."

Commander Wolf, "Tactical decouple the MAX ION and prepare a firing solution for the Aestorm using course heading 5 by 9.4. on my mark."

The Warmonger opened up fire again on the Memphis. The entire ship was being pummeled by ION and laser fire.

"On my word make course change to 5 by 9.4. and give me full thrust." Wolf ordered the Navigational Officer.

Tactical, "P.T.A and Fatal systems locked on target!"

"Fire weapons Now!!" Barked Wolf

The P.T.A turrets came to life lighting up space between the ECV Hammer of God and the Gammulan Warmonger and simultaneously the F.A.T.A.L system opened up with a barrage of vagarants. The laser fire raked the aft section of the Warmonger not doing any real damage but it was doing what it was intended to do...and that was to weaken it's shields for an instant later the first vagarant missile hit the ship, it's shields completely collapsed and soon after that the second missile hit knocking it's engines offline and sending the Warmonger into a slow spin effectively taking out of the fire for now.

The Hammer of God rocked as the Aestorm opened up fire with a laser barrage, "Nav make course correction now! Tactical fire when target is locked." Because the MAX ION was decoupled it began firing before the enemy ship was in the forward firing arc and the full fury of the MAX ION was brought to bear on the Aestorm.

A missile from the Aestorm rocked the Hammer of God as it impacted setting off alarms all over the place.

"Chief what's the damage report."

Chief Engineer, " We have sustained moderate damage on decks 2 and 3 repair crews are on the way."

Tactical, "Sir, a Stormcarrier has just lunched two Radix missiles targeted for the ECV Concord."

There are just too dammed many of them, Wolf thought to himself, how in the hell did we get ourselves into this one, but the answer was an obvious one. The Gammulans lunched an all out offensive into Terran space and facing this threat EarthCom, Galcom, and the Insurgents formed a new combined fleet under the TDF. The EarthCom contingent of ships was on rendevous with the rest of the newly formed TDF when reports started to come in that Warmage star station was under attack. There was also reports of Gammulan activit near Neptune. Earth Command decided to split the fleet in two sending one half to defend Warmage and the other to defend the classified base on Neptune. Wolf's battle group was assigned to the defense of Warmage. When the fleet finally arrived at Warmage all was in total shock the station was on the edge of total collapse. The stations compliment of warships lay destroy or adrift around the station along with it entire fighter contingent. And the station was still under attack by a small force of Gammulas Warships that number less then 5, but all the reports indicated that a force of more than 60 ships had entered the system. We would have pondered on that detail longer but anger rose up from every man and women in the fleet and death was in everyones eyes with only one word on our lips. VENGEANCE!!

EarthCom forces fell upon the Gammulas like the wraith of God not stopping until every enemy vessel was utterly destroyed. No communications of surrender would be accepted only their deaths would satisfy us now.

After the short battle it was discovered that indeed a larger force had been attacking the station and after they felt the job was almost complete the majority of the ships proceeded on to Neptune and the small force was left behind for mop up duty. We immediately mobilized all space worthy EarthCom ships and proceeded to Neptune at Maximum velocity.

We arrived at Neptune only to find the entire Gammule fleet there and fully engaged with the EarthCom fleet that had already been sent there. Our appear took them by some what of a surprise but that advantage didn't hold for long and the tide of battle slowly began to shift in favor of the Gammulan attack force.

Just then there was a large bright light as the ECV Behemoth exploded in a tiny super nova that for all it's brilliance meant the death of a ship and it's entire crew. Karl Wolf was once again back to reality facing overwhelming odds with an uncertain future.

Comm Officer,"Commander Wolf an priority one message from Earth Command."

Wolf quickly looked at the massage as it scrolled through his V.R. visor. "Ok, Comm send this message out broad band to entire fleet."

"All EarthCom ships are directed to prevent the Gammulans from taking EarthCom base on Neptune at all cost. Repeat at all cost."

"Now send this message to Epsilon Battle Group." "Take up flanking positions around me in delta formation. Send your entire marin contingent down to the surface in shuttles with two fighters flying escort."

Now that's an additional 300 plus marins on the gound to help repell any surface invasion, Wolf thought to himself.

Wolf also wondered what's so important about this base that the Gammulans are willing to devote this many ships into taking it and why Earth Command what's us to hold on to it so badly.

The ship was rocked by a explosion caused by a vagarant hitting the hull of the ship.

Chef Engineer,"We substained damage to he solar panels, crew compartments, and mess hall. Damage control teams are on the way to maintain any radiation leaks."

EarthCom forces were fighting well but there are just too dammed many Gammulans we need help badly.

Wolf had one hope. He turned to the Comm officer and said, "Send this message tight beam to the TDF."

Hyperdrive activated

-We're on our way to Neptune, check the status of the Jump-points, we don't want to run into some cloacked Gammulan mines.

The blueish oval shade of Neptune was visible on the Navcomm-system. A quick switch to Callisto revealed some small Gammulan activity in orbit around Callisto, while some of the Top-Meeting BC's drew in closer.

Encrypted Intelligence relay regarding surface activity on Callisto;

Some of Galcom's Geo-stationary sensors in orbit of Neptune have indicated, while crossing the orbit with Callisto that the Gammulan's have filled a large construction with the new fuel. Their equipment is modified to take advantage of the enhaced functionality of the Synthetics in the facility.

<end of encrypted relay message>

-Sir, it seems the Gammulans now already know how to use the fluid!

That doesn't worry me, number two, we saw that one coming, I'm just curious exactly *what* type of weapon they're firing up!

-Sir, it might be one of those new Robot-tech-stuff we've heard of!

If it is so, number two, then we're looking at a firepower never witnessed in this part of space.

<TwoBombs remembered the weapons-instruction he had on those new ground-based weaponary, the little info he has had, dealt on the fact that once it has been designed to mine whole asteroid-fields in just a fraction of the time it took with conventional mining-equipment. Since the Gammulans are as fierce as they are right now, TwoBombs hoped they didn't made any plans on making a big ining-field of Sol....>

"Target Down!"

That took the count up to five in the last 10 min. Their objective was close as the squad procedded with deliberate speed. Number two, whom controlled the pace, looked at his mission clock. F@#! 45 seconds behind schedule. If EarthCOM forces where not already joined in battle they soon would be. And they would have no chance if his squad failed. Dispite their fanatical training, traversing such terrrain- undetected- in the time alloted was proving dificult. But then that is what SCID's elite Specialized Raider Squads where designed to do.

The sanke entered the control room, it's members branching. One and Two to the left Three and Four to the right, with five covering rear security. The room was cleared of hostiles in less than two seconds.

"All Clear!"

Number two downloaded the files while while #4 tagged the bodies. Blackwell remembered that he had not been given all the details behind this opp. - as usuall.

(We have a delicate mole situation on Neptune that requires immediate attention and your squads unique skills.)

Read that as ' We EarthCOM messed up and you get to clean it up'. That was not unusuall by itself. What followed in the order made Blackwell glad that SCID & SRS NEVER operated based on 3rd party intel, not even EathCOM's.

(All contacts in target zone are to be considered hostile. No exceptions)

That ment that these poor Empirians whom had just lost their lives presented a clear and present danger to Earth. A soldier generally only needs to know what, when and how but Blackwell always followed his instict. It had saved his life many times in over 20 years of experience in the field. And he would not denny it now. Knowing WHY was important in this opp.

"Download complet"

The rest of the team had completed the modifications to their combat gear, some as expesive as a fighter craft, and waited for his signal.

"Pressure equilibrium established"

a computer voice anounced.

A large hatch opend in the center of the room.

The signal was given and in unison the squad dove into an evironment as hostile as the one hundreds of miles above.

Seconds later the hatch closed and the last of the bodies disapeard, leaving the control room... clean.

I am trying to download ICQ on my computer at home, I had it on the one at work. DeSylva, did you get my email with the plans for Starpoint Station?

If you can't be online during the meeting it is ok, I will post the general briefing on the commlink and then if you have a question about it or want to introduce some new information then post to the tread as usual and we can go from there.

I'll begin the briefing posting a little later, and as you read it, respond if you have questions or new ideas you want considered at that time.

FO: SH4 has docked.

GALLION: NAV, ETA of CR-Sqdn-B?

NAV: 5 Minutes Sir.

GALLION: FO ready Probe 2 and 3. Send P2 to LV-184/Omega Centari, send P3 to LV-110/Alpha Gamma. Set telemetry for both probes to NORMAL. Set telemetry on Probe 1 to NORMAL. COMMS: Send message to the Prinze Eugen, activate CLOAK on my Mark.

Three minutes until Cruiser Squadron B reaches our location, Gallion thought, maybe these probes will stir-up some Gam activity.

FO: Probes launched, Probe 1 telemetry activated.

GALLION: Prepare for cloak, COMMS open channel to the Prinze, engage CLOAK on my Mark, three.....two....MARK!

To an observer, space seem to distort around Corsair Wing as the Galatan Battlecruisers engaged their cloaking devices.

COMMS: Squawk on Wing TACNET Sir!.

GALLION: Excellent! Open Channel to Cruiser Squadron B and the Prinze Eugen.

COMMS: Channel opened.

GALLION: Alright people, Corsair Wing will continue to Gamma 1. We got sidetracked here in Regis VI. Plot a course to Regis IV and prepare to jump on my Mark. The TACNET will be used for all Corsair Wing communications. Graf Spee OUT. NAV plot a course to...

NAV: Course plotted to NAV Destination, Regis IV.

GALLION: Corsair Wing, three...two...MARK!

Unseen by passerbys (there were none) or the Gam Starbase at Rocon, Corsair Wing enters Hyperspace. The only clue to the existence of Corsair Wing were the jump anomalies that formed at their destination points. Commander Gallion activates his TACOPS viewer and selects Probe 1ÔÇÖs telemetry. Time to see what is going on in the neighborhood, Gallion thought, getting tired of surprises. Empty, no Gam space traffic what so ever. Gallion began to have a bad feeling about this mission. Either the entire Gam fleet would be waiting for Corsair wing at Gamma 1 or the Gamulan Empire has deployed elsewhere. A serious turn of events indeed.

Whoa, I dont post for half a day and a whole new thread is created.Where and when is this "meeting" Ristar? In ICQ? In here... by e-mail?? Catching up...

<RP>

"I have a Swarm solution Commander"

"Show me"

The TacOps display flared as the flight plan for the Wraith Swarm materialized in gray colors over the tactical display.Developed as an experimental Fleet Engagement tactic during the Wraith's seclusion in the Moon Region, the Swarm consisted of a massive missile barrage upon enemy heavy ships by a fighter swarm, followed by friendly cap ships to mop up and draw fire away from the fighters, as well as provide the needed PTA cover for the fighter's exit. The basics were simple, the execution was simple. The only hard part was finding the place to deliver the punch. And now Mia Kurazawa had found the belly of the beast, and the hornets would sting.

"Excellent Mia, have the fighters target the lead ship as well. BC's will target the Violons and any surviving Stormcarrier."

"Computer now distributing targets as per manouver parameters... fighter targets done... BC targets..done. We are ready Sir"

"Launch all fighters!"

Wraith Fleet, HellHound Wing added its own IC's to the fray. The Hound Interceptors sped outward towards a predesignated meeting point with the other BC's fighters... the hornets were gathering.

A flash of light caught Tac's attention. It was inside the TDF's ranks.

"... Mia, report!"

"Seems the Necromancer was destroyed sir" Her voice almost seemed...gleeful.

"DAMN."

"Insurgent cruiser breaking off formation."

"..."

"Receiving messages from ISS Coordinator Ristar and from... darn! Source unknown, that burst of EMP from the Necromancer cut off the ID. Patching it through to your console."

Too fast.. things are developing too fast was the only thing Tac's bewildered brain could think of. That and the Necromancer. From his station, the Combat Officer stared at his Commander...he had been with him long enough to know what that look meant.Soon it would be too much for the skipper and he would crack...not his sanity, but his caution. As in the Mandorian Rescue, he knew that whatever may come, it was going to be an adrenalin ride for him, the crew, and the skipper's target.

"Thnx Mia, inform me as soon as those fighters group. Move the Wing into position behind the fighters."

Tac read the messages...a meeting? In the middle of a battle? What did Ristar think this was?? A cocktail party? And the second message.. authentic TDF code, but no ID due to the interference... to place Corsair under someone else? Too fast..too fast.

"Comms: Acknowledge the meeting.Add: 'Make it soon!'. Reply to whomever asked for the Corsairs: 'Agreed'. Message to Gallion:'You will receive further orders from another Fleet soon, standby'."

"Fighters in position, Wing in position. Say the word sir"

"Charge!"

The Combat Officer smiled. He turned to his collegue, made a hand gesture towards his eyes, pointed to the Commander. "Crack" was all what he needed to say to his friend. The ensign glanced at the skipper...his eyes were glazed at the Gam Stormcarriers. He then eyed the C.O.,nodded in agreement. Wild decisions, carelesness, calculated risks... Tac was now acting on instinct.

"Fighters going in... they are firing missiles"

The TacOps display erupted with yellow and white symbols, the fighter Swarm was unloading all its missiles onto its targets.

"Battlecruisers firing missiles"

More symbols, this time coming from the Usagi and the Hound BC's.

"Fighters breaking off, concentrating laser fire on the lead ship"

"Usagi to all Hounds: Fire IOD at the Stormcarriers in the front. PTA: provide cover for our fighters. To all fighters: Make one laser run at the lead ship, then RTB to reload."

"Enemy squadron has spotted our attack, they are shifting to face us"

The Gammulan squadron leader must be reacting Tac thought, they have no hope to evade our missiles...they were fired too close for that. The explosions began.

"Fighter Missiles IMPACT! Reading half the squadron destroyed..."

The trails from the Battlecruiser's missiles were close to target..a few more seconds and.. Light filled the bridge as the Usagi was thrown of course by a shockwave.

"What the hell was that? Mia? Status report all ships!"

A dazed Tactical Officer squinted at her console."Nuclear explosion in the Violon aft of the gammulan squadron... scanners read possible OTS-type weaponry..it was not a reactor breach... Wing reports major shield damage, but no hull breach.Fighters reporting in... heavy damage to 1/4th of our fighter... SIR, we lost our IC3! Scanning for ejection pods"

"Have all fighters RTB NOW. Launch a shuttle to search for that pod.Gam status?"

"Gammulan squadron is not on sensors commander...they were desintegrated in the blast."

By the gods, OTS in our space.

"UNKNOWN SHIP DECLOAKING ON OUR AFT!"

"Full speed foward, drop mines on my.."

"GCV Tsuing firing at the newcomer!!"

Thank god for Hellstar's reflex! "Status of the newcomer?"

"It seems heavily damaged sir, emmitting SOS... GCV Tsuing requesting permission to board the ship"

"Usagi to Tsuing: From my crew and I: Thanks man! Now get me the head of that ship's captain.. I want his head on a silver platter.Tac out"

"Message sent"

"Tactical:Move us out of the firing area, recover all fighters and repair shields."

"Sir, we are being hailed by... INCOMING enemy vessels! 50+, Galcom is taking all forces into the battle zone, requesting reinforcements from all fleets!"

"MORE? Damn these Gammulans! Order the GCV Fury and the GCV Ire (the 2 BC's in the HQ's inventory)to launch from Wrath HQ, have all ships in the HQ to launch and to get here now! ALL ships! Transports can ram if neccessary!. Evacuate all non-military personnel from Wrath HQ."

"Wrath HQ complies, launching all craft now."

"Comms: Ask the other fleet leaders to do the same, its better to lose a remote-guided transport than a cruiser in this battle."

"Request sent"

"Commander, we have recovered all fighters, Wing is rebuilding shields"

"Noted. Now show me those 50+ gams.. where the hell is Prime fleet???"

"Incoming FYO from High Command"

"Now what?? put it through"

As Tac read, his eyes continously looked at the ceiling in disbelief.

"For heavens sake... Earthcom can't keep a lid on their own projects and now we have to bleed for their arrogance.Damn them."

The crew silently stared, wondering what was going on...

</rp>

Whew! Long! You people post tooo fast! :-).

Gallion: Good luck down there my man! Give em hell!

Can I have the new cloaking tech after this is over? pleease? :-).

Rattler gently nudged IC1 forward, inching ever closer to "First Light", seeing it's Bay Doors opening, feeling it's tractors engaging. A momentary panic started to set into the back of his mind and the one thing that kept rushing to his consciousness was "What if it's a trap?" In this crazy, ever shifting, pure political world that they had been thrown into, Rattler had always relied upon one thing. Instinct, and his profound belief in Honor, Integrity, but most of all, it was Friendship. Just ahead of him, standing alone in the bay was just that. The First, and Best Friend that he had ever had. Rattler's Flight from Galcom, which had ultimatley landed him into the position of Insurgent One and had seriously undermined that friendship. Mostly because of Political Beliefs, and Rattler openly cursed all politicians!! IC1 came to rest and Rattler shut her down. He slowly exited the craft, anxiously scanning the bay for hidden danger. Finding none, he turned his full attention to his Friend.

Rattler: Gareth, it's truly been a long time, "Old Friend!" Thank you for allowing me to visit First Light. My compliments to Yourself and your crew for keeping her in such fine fasion. I feel very old today, and I'm in need of rest and privacy. Is there somewhere that You and I might go and just be Rattler and DeSylva for a while, like in the old days?

Rattler and DeSylva departed the hangar bay, very much unlike his departure from At All Cost's bay, none of the pomp and circumstance, but like two shadows slipping back through the threads of time, back in time where DeSylva and Rattler were "Young Warriors" Hell bent on licking the Universe, as long as they could do it together. Rattler was determined to make peace with his "Old Friend", as one never knows if another chance will come along.

Here is a twist, thanks Tac

<rp>

Corsair Wing returned to Normal space just before the jump point to Regis IV, FLX-09. Wing Leader, Commander Gallion had a dilemma. An unexpected assignment of 10 Solnar class cruisers. Five of which were loaded with 5 OTS Sunbeams. 25 Nukes, now why would Wraith Fleet Commander Tac assign this to me? Gallion pondered this and the fact so far the Gams have ignored Corsair WingÔÇÖs presence in their territory.

GALLION: FO, what is the ETA for P2 and P3 to their destinations?

FO: P2 ETA to LV-184 is 10 minutes, P3ÔÇÖs ETA to LV-110 is 15 minutes.

GALLION: COMMS open TACNET channel, Corsair Wing DECLOAK and continue to Regis IV, when P2 and P3 reach their destinations, we will set course to LV-184/Omega Centauari. Be prepared to engage cloaking devices if necessary. Graf Spee OUT!.

One by one, Corsair Wing entered the Flux field to Regis IV. Probe 2 began sending telemetry from LV 184. Regis IV was empty of all space traffic with the exception of the XTENDER ODS platform orbiting Regis IV. Gallion activates Probe 2ÔÇÖs telemetry on the TACOPS computer, same story; no space traffic. Only the Valkerie Starbase OMEGA-9 presented a threat to the Wing. Gallion lead Corsair Wing on a slow but steady course to the next jump point, expecting OMEGA-9 to launch its craft and challenge Corsair Wing. Nothing. What gives? Commander Gallion decided not to shoot a gift horse in the mouth and activated his TACNET commlink.

GALLION: To Corsair Wing, plot a course to LV-110, engage on my Mark. Since nobody wants to play our game, we are not going to hide anymore. CSB1 thru 5 prepare to target ground facilities. Prinze Eugen, outfit your 3 ICs with ATS and ATA weapons. Graf Spee OUT. FO, outfit our 3 ICs with ATS and ATA weapons. TACOPS, prepare a list of ground targets on LV-110 and Gamma 1.

NAV: Course plotted...

GALLION: Corsair Wing engage hyperdrive on my Mark, three...two...MARK!

Corsair Wing disappeared from the realm of normal space, destination LV-110/Gammula. If the Gams wonÔÇÖt engage Corsair here, they damn sure would at their Home system. Gallion began to smile, a devilish evil grin, as he formulated a plan. A plan that could change the course of the galaxy.....

COMMS: Incoming Message from Wraith HQ!

GALLION: Route it to my terminal Lt.

BT

TO: Corsair Wing

FR: Wrath HQ

SUBJECT: Assignment

You will receive further orders from another Fleet soon, standby.

CMDR Tac

ET

Well, well, well, this could be interesting

GALLION: All hands this is the Captain, we may have a change of Plans. Section leaders will meet in conference room in 10 minutes. COMMS set up VTC with all Corsair Wing ship commanders, pipe it to the conference room also. Gallion out.

First, Tac, the meeting will be conducted here on the commlink because some people have to work and can't be on ICQ or other means.

<rp on>

Ristar led Tringad to the briefing room on the Shogun. Once inside the room, Ristar pulled up the hologram of Neptune and the surrounding planets.

"Alun, we have a major war brewing here, and the spearhead right now is at Neptune. I want to station marine units in the surrounding planets in case the Gammulans try landing ground troops to establish early warning stations to protect the force going in to steal this process. We also need all the Terran Defense Fleet out of the area so not to alert the Gammulans. We need to know what they know. We need to take some prisoners so we can learn about their chemical weapons so we can develop a counter acting agent against them, so we need the ground forces to land. I'm trying to get Cmdr. Londono's permission to gain control of Cmdr.Gallion and some of his BC's, these would be placed under your command to aid in ground support for the ground troops if they need air support or to destroy ground targets. After we attend this meeting on Callisto we need to prepare the marine units to be deployed to the agreed on locations. We probably need to station other units at various locations in other systems. We can discuss that then. I needed to get your take on this situation and your recommendations on the tactical situation. I want to have everything in order for this briefing. We will be going down to Callisto soon for the meeting, and we can discuss your plans there."

</rp off>

Alun, I need your recommendations on the tactical situation. Tac, I need you at this meeting so bring yourself and whoever you want to attend from the Wraith Fleet to the moon of Callisto, we are going to have a briefing for everyone and bring everyone up to date on all the changes. This would be a good time if anyone wants to introduce any new information or story lines.

All commanders that will be attending the meeting should make their next post about landing on Callisto and being escorted to the briefing area so we can get this underway, because I know there are some events that are going to occur. This would be a good time for those ideas to be brought into the game by just some advance intelligence or sightings of enemy ships etc, that way we can all have some idea of what everyone wants to bring in.

I'll be looking out for the posts landing on Callisto, and once everyone is going to be on the planet, Alun and I will begin the briefing. Everyone that has a storyline that is brewing, try to come up with some way to introduce your idea for the rest of us. You don't have to give it away, but just some idea for us, and you can develop it and expand it as you wish.

Thanks to everyone, this is a blast. Alun, post your ideas here as soon as possible, I know many people want this meeting over so we can get down to action

Sorry folks but it's time for a gentle nudge to wake up those commanders who are a little too into this fantasy.

1. Your troops are currently fighting and dying by the minute.

2. Another 50 ship Gammulan armada is in Lyrius about to finish off the mines and jump into Jupiter.

3. This is perhaps the worst time to be planning anything that has to do with this war.

Folks, I have to assume that GALCOM (i.e., you fleet leaders) have already drawn up plans in the past for dealing with such an event. No millitary in their right mind ever wastes peacetime calm. They spend it planning for the lightest of events to the most black of days. You should all have contingency plans and should be putting them into effect right now. Not talking, not aksing, not pausing while your enemy paves its way into your home with the blood of your friends.

Ristar, I don't mean to belittle your call, but the Fleet Leaders place right now is directing his/her forces either according to plan or where they will do the most good for the overall war.

If you look back at the begining of this drama, the Insurgents were ready. They were unified in their actions down to the flying formation of the fleet.

Here's the skinny, Ristar. The Gammulans have 60+ ships at Neptune about to destroy the EARTHCOM Fleet and another 50+ ships about to jump into Jupiter. May I remind you that your ships in the Jupiter system are badly beaten, low on missiles and mines, and worst of all tired. They haven't had one break and will soon be making judgement calls influenced by sugar, caffine, and hormones.

I suggest you stop worrying about the positioning of marines and direct your attention to the systematice destruction of the ships carrying any and all threats into the Sol system

Cmdr. Akira

ok, I can't follow alot of these changes, I was trying to get people in one place at one time to get all the ideas and changes out and we could get the role play in a flowing idea and let others let their ideas in, but people can run this any way they want. It was getting confusing where people were and what they were doing and what the plot was sometimes. Maybe it was just me.

Corsair wing arrived in LV-110/Gammula space cloaked and without any resitance along the way from Regis VI This did not bother Gallion to much but did make his sixth sense go into over drive.

GALLION: TACOPS Scan the area, especially look for ANYTHING that does not look normal.

TACOPS: Aye Sir, initial systen scan has no sign of amy space vessels with the exception of the PYRON ODS platform orbitting planet LV-110.

GALLION: TACNET channel opened, Corsair Wing assume Blossum Flower formation, target is the PYRON ODS platform orbiting planet LV-110. Prepare to jump on my mark, 5....4....3...2...MARK!

If it could be seen, it would have been an impressive sight. Twelve shiped jumped to the doomed ODS platform orbitting LV-110 as one. Several seconds later, after each craft found its petal in th Blossum Flower formation, Commander Gallion began his next action.

GALLION: TACNET Channel opened, Corsair on my Mark launch 1 Vangrant missile at the target. Three ... two ... MARK!

The Graf Spee shudder as the Vangrant missile left themissile pod, twelve missiles streked from out of no where to the ODS platform. The PYRON had no chance, within seconds of the Corsair missile launch, they found it. Buckling its shields first then causing major system failures as each Vagrant found its mark. For a moment, the ODS platform just hung there in space, then suddenly burst into a super nova when its reactor reached critical mass.

GALLION: TACNET channel open, Corsair Wing, impement ground assult plan ALPHA B1, CS-B1-5 target the Gam Starbase on LV-110ÔÇÖs surface. Prinze Eugen, deploy ATV and target the bases radar station, Graf Spee OUT

FO: Unload Cargo pods from SH4 load ATV4 with all the APM missiles that it can carry. COMBAT OPS Load up ATV4 , deploy Marine detachment, target the bases shield generator. Prepare to Launch in 3 minutes.

The Graf Spee became a beehive of activity as the crews scambled to complete the Commanders orders on time.

FO: SH4 and ATV4 ready to deploy

CO: Marines ready for combat deployment.

GALLION: TACNET channel open, Prinze Eugen Launch shuttle craft and ICs. Graf Spee out, FO Launch shuttle craft and ICs. ICs will provide air support. Transporter room prepare for emergency beamout if required. Gallion OUT.

Now the fun begins. It has been a while since any of Corsair WingÔÇÖs marine contigent had to do any ground assaults. Hope the used their Combat Simulator time wisely. Gallion allowed himself to relax. Was not much to do until the StarbaseÔÇÖs shields and radar are taken out. The rest of the Wing began to take orbital stations above the targeted starbase. With any luck, Murphy may keep his ugly head out of the way. Which brought up something else to the worried Commander...

GALLION: FO Ready SH3 and ATV3 for launch, same load and orders as SH/ATV4. CO ready another Marine squad for deployment. We may have to do this again. COMMS inform the Prinze Eugen to do the same thing. Both teams will launch on my Mark.. TACOPS, contunie scanning the area, let me know if ANYHTING is amiss.

The waiting game begins.

I was reading back through all the posts, there is so much stuff going on, and people running all over the place, I know I might be guilty of this also, but I was trying to get things going and at a central point to get everyone caught up, I didn't know that we were on a time line to hurry this battle up, anyway, my son needs me. Ristar, suggest that the meeting still take place, this is 3000ad, use technology (via rp) for those CMDRS that cannot be there personnally, bring in a VTC (aka teleconferencing) and post it as you planned. Cmdr. Akira has a point, a fleet commander will not leave his fleet in the heat of battle for a staff meeting. I personnally have been waiting for some type of "plot" guidance. I can only "maveric" so long and may be able to pull some heat from Sol, Corsair is in a strategic position. Use it, as Tac would say "ever seen Iron

Eagle???"

Ristar, catching everyone up on past and current events is a great idea. It's about time for a new thread to be created. Why not go through the posts again and create a summary of the events to date. I tried that with this one, but I'm not too sure I did a good job of it.

Anyway, I too went through all the posts from fun part 4 to present and yes there are a lot of people doing different things. However, the big picture/s is pretty clear. Perhaps it's clear because I'm privy to a few plot twists, but I don't think that's the case!

One of the reasons I'm enjoying this first dip into the RP waters is because of the UNKNOWN factors inherant with multiple authors. I've had plans for this thing from the very begining (essentially right after Chavik let me know his plans for the deal with DeSylva concerning Tringad). Those plans were part of a fairly detailed decision tree.

I write this, see what the response is and do my best to direct the appropriate story line. But things, as you know, didn't work out like that. This war took off and from the moment Akira anounced the pressence of cloaked ships in Polaris 1 the whole storyline was out of my hands. I was a disappointed at first, but came to realize that not knowing (for the most part) what a commander might submit became the fun part.

Look at what's happened. This forum has created a war closest to the real thing as possible. Some people follow orders, others take matters into their own hands, the enemy does things that are unexpected and chaos reigns supreme. That's what happens during war. Very rarely do you know the outcome and things almost never go according to plan.

I say this because, like many here, I've got some rabbits to pull out of my hat that will affect everyone. But do I want/can I kill off other members characters in those actions. I'm going too, but I'm sure some people will be more than a little unhappey with that.

Personally, I've been trying to contact everyone that may be affected by Cmdr. Akira's future actions to somehow coordinate certain details. But the truth of it is, even after the planning, the changes made to please other people, etc., people still aren't following MY plan. But that's OK. I'm having to stretch my character and be a little/a lot creative to come up with new ways to do things.

I'm rambling. I'm sure those reading this understand what I'm saying. If not here's the short version: TRYING TO ANTICIPATE OTHER'S MOVES AND WRITING STORIES THAT SOMEHOW FIT WITH THE GREATER WHOLE IS FUN. TRYING TO PLAN THIS SAGA OUT WILL MOST LIKELY DO MORE DAMAGE THAN GOOD.

But hey, I'm just one person here. DeSylva is really in control of the RP universe and if he changes his mind or enough of you voice your opinion to have things a little more organized, then I'm with you!

Cmdr. Akira (a.k.a, Ron Wallin)

Hehe, the Iron Eagle thing is that the Gams dont know how many ships there are inside their lines..in their home space. If you've seen Iron Eagle or READ Starship Troopers (not seen that insult of a movie), you would remember that they were small in number but they moved fast, appearing to be everywhere..giving the enemy the illusion that they were more than they really were.

Anyway, Gallion: for the 3rd or 4th time, the cruisers are STARCRUISER class cruisers. Not Solnar :-).

Meeting at Callisto... as if this was some kind of social event. Strange things happen in war.Tac sighed as he leaned back from the Comm display.

"Comms: Message to the Tsuing: 'Hellstar, it seems the brass wants a meeting NOW. Can't refuse. I am leaving you in charge of the Wing. Remember: Hard, Fast and Furious...FIRST!'"

"Message sent Commander"

"Helm: Set course for Callisto, maximum burn"

"Helm, Callisto, Aye Sir" replied the helmsman.

GCV Usagi flamed towards the jump her destination.

"ETA of our ships from HQ?"

Lt. Kurazawa gazed at her screen."ETA is 1 hour sir. Commander, the transports can't cloak. They wont be able to get through the Gam fleet."

"I know. Have the crews of the transports transport to the GCV Ire.Then put the transports on remote control under the Fury's control. Have the Fury slam those ships into any gammulan ship they find.Big ones preferably."

"Fury complies, transports are dropping their crews into the Ire."

"Comms: Message to Ristar: Gallion and the Corsairs are awaiting your orders."

"Message sent"

"Any word from Delta Wing?"

"No sir, not yet."

"Tightbeam to HQ: Locate Delta Wing, have them report to me on morse code if they have to."

"HQ complies"

Ten minutes later, a very annoyed Commander Tac shuttled down to Callisto.

</rp>

Well, here I am. :-)

HellStar: You got 7 BC's under your command, and each BC has an IC heavily damaged. The Wing has half its load of missiles left, and a full complement of mines.

Hell's Fury: If you're here, post. :-)

Gallion: HAR HAR Mateys!! *G*

Ristar, De Sylva: I just have one question: Most of the fighting is being done by the Player Fleets...where is Prime Fleet (the bulk of our forces!)??? Earthcom is getting their butts swiped in Neptune (and a well deserved one!) and we are at Jupiter.

I plan to have Delta Wing turn around from behind enemy lines and hit THEM from behind.Boxing them in. Perhaps Gallion could help in this (once he is out of OTS and not needed by ISS hehe)..what do you think Gallion? Ristar?

Commander Chavik listened as Miss Siamet reported on Rattler,"I've scanned all recent messages and they report he had boarded At All Costs, now it appears he is meeting with DeSylva on the First Light. Three of the IC's from the Necromancer have reported in and they say he was the last to leave the ship. He had saved IC-1 for himself. The Predicant's crew has boarded the Guardian and the leftover engineers have arrived on the Phoenix. Repairs are commencing. All IC wings are reporting in with success on Maelstrom and clean up. Shuttles have been dispatched for cargo pods with IC escort. IC's are on a rotating repair schedule with various Commanders taking up the slack. GCV vessels seem to be doing the same."

"Good, increase the repair schedule but leave enough IC's out there for operations. We still have a few bogies running around. See if you can contact Rattler on the First Light and find out what's going on. Keep scanning those messages and get a grip on things. I need to know what is going on."

Chavik turned his attention to the systems check. Repairs were proceeding well. The Fleet had held together, no casualties except for the Necromancer. That wasn't to say everyone was in tip top shape though. Repairs were being conducted at a maddening pace. Necromancers crew being spread around helped. Anyone could tote parts.

He started going thru the messages Miss Siamet had piped through his visor. One from Commander Ristar caught his eye. A Meeting? I don't think so, he thought, not when half the fleet thinks they have lost their leader. And something just didn't seem right. Jupiter was the front door to Earth on this side of the sytem true enough but it was also the door home. We'll just sit tight right here. Guarding the front door and our way out.

"Message to ICV fleet Miss Siamet; narrow band but don't encode.

"We have located Insurgent One. He escaped to At All Costs and is currently enroute to the First Light. Nothing else is known. The last transmission transfered fleet command to me. Updates as Info allows."

"Repeat that to Akira, double encode, compress, and burst; and add "Akira, proceed as previously outlined. Free reign."

Send To Desylva, "Request resupply from Galcom HQ, Starpath, and any other available supply depots. And find out what the Empirians and Vesperons are doing. Help would be a blessing. And Don't let the Empirians claim economics restraints on you."

Chavik hoped for the best. It was time to clean up and see what else was in the pot.
