The Wraith Massacre

This is the continuation of The Death Wraith and as the topic title would suggest, this will not be a free ride for Wraith Fleet.

All are welcome to chime in if the urge is felt as long as there is no reference to any artifact(s).

The tactical situation to date:

The Gammulan Empire has subjugated the Falkyries and have complete control of the Gammulan Quadrant. The Falkyrie Resistance Fighters have been almost completely wiped out by Gammulan Warriors on all Falkyrie worlds. Those groups of Falkyrie Resistance Fighters and their Terran advisors, known as Cells, that survived the Gammulan purge are in the process reorganizing and regrouping.

The Gammulans have destroyed all planetary-based Terran facilities within the Gammulan Quadrant and almost all located in the Credian Quadrant. Gammulan attempts to locate and destroy the Insurgent Star Station Spectre in Antis have been utter failures. Someway, somehow the huge star station was either moved or hidden by the Insurgency.

The strength of the Gammulan Invasion Fleet, aka the horde, has been whittled down to one-third its original strength by the heroic but futile efforts of the combined forces of both Wraith and Mandorian Military Fleets. Which has cost Wraith 60% of its original warship strength, 80% fighter strength, one space station, and two starbases to date.

ISS Fleet CommanderÔÇÖs ship, GCV-Shogun, was attacked just before departing Pluto, Sol on a secret mission for locations unknown within the Gammulan Quadrant. Two of the attacking four warships were destroyed before the remaining two warships took flight but not before inflicting heavy to moderate damage to the GCV-Shogun, which is currently under repairs at the space station located in orbit of Pluto. The reason behind the unprovoked attack and those responsible for are unknown ATT.

There have been several unsubstantiated rumors of a mole within the ranks of ISS Fleet. Several members of ISS are sifting amongst the tid-bits and tailings of clues of these rumors; though there not be hard evidence to prove or disprove them.

How far has ISS been penetrated and by who or whom?

Is there more than one Mole?

Who within ISS can be trusted and for how long?

What has happened to the Insurgency and where are they?

Why is a Galcom Transport using Gammulan IFF Transponder Codes?

Will the Corsair ever find the miraculous but ever elusive pack of bubble gum?

The answers to those questions and more will be found as the motley and massacre continues biggrin.gif

The confusion and maelstrom of battle was interrupted as a lull swept amongst the opposing forces of the combatants. On one side were the numerous warships of the Gammulan Empire. On the other were the remnants of the Galcom fleet once known as Wraith, along with what remained of the warships of the Mandorian MilitaryÔÇÖs Fleet. In between the two forces was an expanding flotsam and wreckage of battle. The Kandorains had yet to enter the fray, much to the dismay of the surviving Wraith and Mandorian forces. For if the Kandorians were enticed someway to enter the struggle being waged in their territory, the scales of fate could be tilted towards the outnumbered and outgunned Wraith and Mandorian warships. If there could be found a way that is.

LV-103, Alpha Cygni

Activity within the hull of the battered battlecruiser increased and culminated with the successful operation of her transporter as twenty Corsair Marines were sent across the void of space to the Gammulan LRT-10 transport, T'nar Kaltak, in two squads of ten each. Gunney York was in overall command of this raiding mission. His orders and mission were simple ÔÇô get in and get out with the components needed to repair the Graf Spee. Nothing more and nothing less.

One squad beamed aboard the transport near the forward cargo hold, near the its planned ingress point. The other squad, with the Gunney, missed its mark by one deck and several hundred meters. Instead of materializing within the aft portion of the forward cargo hold, the Gunney and his squad found themselves materializing within the confines of the engineering deck near the hyper-drive engines. Confusion and Murphy reigned its leery had has the Gunney cursed the transporter operator on the Graf Spee for botching what was suppose to be a gravy mission.

The first squad went about its mission and managed to locate most of the components before being discovered by a heavily armed roving band of the transportÔÇÖs crew. One Corsair Marine was mowed down before the rest could take cover and return fire. The Sergeant in charge tried desperately to contact the Graf Spee on his communication system. In the confusion and maelstrom of battle he had forgotten that the communication system on the Graf Spee was down, the component that would fix it was in his rucksack. In his frustration, the Sergeant threw his commlink away and added his assault weaponÔÇÖs fire to that of what remained of his squad. They were caught in a cross fire when another heavily armed roving band of the transportÔÇÖs crew entered into the fray from the aft end of the cargo hold. The same area where the GunneyÔÇÖs squad was suppose to be.

Gunney York heard most of what the Sergeant said before the commlink was abruptly cut-off by the SergeantÔÇÖs actions. Feeling useless where he was at, the Gunney took matters at hand as he gave the orders to the squad muddled about him. The orders were simple and to the point. Place the explosive charges at key locations through out the engineering deck in the quickest time possible. Five minutes is what he gave his bunch of ladies. During this time the Gunney studied the schematic of the transport on his datapad. He plotted a path that would get him and his squad from the engineering deck to the forward cargo hold. Hopefully in time to get the Sergeant and his group of ladies out of the pickle that they are now in.

Lydon, Krynon

GCV Swiftsure

Somerset stood stoically in his ready room, staring at a haggard image in the mirror. The image was his own. These last two days had not been the best for the Swiftsure, or for her Commander. Stubble protruded from all around his face because he couldn't shave, his eyes made him look to be drunken, when it was a combination of smoke, tiring fighting, and the stimulants that kept him awake. He was lucky he took a protein pill, which covered all his nutritional needs for 72 hours, or he would have been fighting hunger in addition to the Gammulans.

After he managed to do something with his disheveled hair, and get the stubble off his face, Somerset felt a lot more normal, even though the situation remained quite far from it. He wished those damn Gammulans had never wanted to start a war. So much needless death, on all sides.

After their daring attack and escape from the Gammulans in Chanis-I, the remainder of SIN Wing managed to stumble into the Fleet in Lydon. How they did so without being destroyed by the Gamms was still a mystery to Somerset. In any case, things didn't look good. From what he had ascertained, the Gammulans had lost fully two-thirds of their forces yet again, since their initial assault yesterday.

They came into Rinaal with all they had, and only one-third rode into battle against Wraith. After reinforcement arrived, Wraith didn't appear to fair well, even with assistance from the Mandorian's. And now that he was done cleaning up, Somerset had some work to do.

The ready room door slid open as he strode onto the bridge, and ordered "Report!"

"We are still holding position, Commander. No enemy activity at present. They are holding position as well. It is my belief that they are consolidating the remainder of their forces for an attack," Soran said.

Somerset refrained from informing Soran on how obvious that statement was. All the Gamms had been doing the last two days was attacking the Fleet. And now there wasn't much left.

From comms, Winforth turned and informed Somerset, "Commander, incoming message from the Fleet Commander, Level I."

"On screen," he ordered.

Fleet Commander Londono appeared on the viewscreen, and touched a button on one of his command panels. Without warning, the screen split to show the remaining Wraith Wing Commanders, and the Commander of the Mandorian forces. "Gentlemen, we have a problem. Even though the enemy's numbers have been reduced to 123, they still outnumber and outgun us. Unless we get some help from the Kandorian's I don't see how we'll survive a few more onslaughts. Suggestions?"

Somerset had been thinking about his since they had arrived, and he thought he had a plan. "Sir, I may have something that can help us."

"Well, what is it?" Londono said, impatient for very good reason.

"What I propose is this. From an intercepted transmission we got the names of high ranking Gammulan officials. We use those names, and the code to make up a false message. The message contains orders to attack the Kandorian's once the remainder of Wraith and the Mandorian Fleet's are wiped out. We can use a comm laser to bounce the message off the jumpgate, and reflect it toward the Starstation. The Gammulans won't hear it, but the Kandorian's will. And when they triangulate the location, it will appear to have come from a communications repeater at the jumpgate. If we offer our assistance to aid in their defence, it may prompt them to assist us." Somerset said. It would also hide the fact that we've broken the Gammulans top code as well, he thought to himself.

On the viewscreen, Londono steepled his fingers, and appeared to ponder the thought. Finally, he nodded to himself, and looked back up at the Commanders assembled before him. "Do it. And make it quick. We don't have any idea when they'll be ready to strike."

"Aye-aye, sir. Is there anything else?" Somerset asked.

"No. We've already gone over the rest of our plans, if we make it that far. With this, hopefully we will. Good luck, and Godspeed. Londono, out." And with that, the screen returned to the normal view of the stars.

GCV Swiftsure

It was done. They had managed to put together what sounded like a Gammulan tranmission, with high level Gammulan names, ordering an attack on the Kandorian's once the enemy was wiped out. Winforth finished her task quickly, and encoded the message with GFC-144. It was an older code, but one the Gammulans thought was unbroken. In fact, it had been broken by most of the major galactic governments in the last few years. The Kandorian's included. A few minutes later, she said "Ready, sir. The message is made, and I've got it encrypted."

"Number One?" Somerset said.

"Ready, Commander. I've calculated the precise position to within .002 nanometers for our comm laser to hit, and reflect back to the Starstation. There will be no way for them to tell that it is not the jumpgate communications repeater. Once the laser hits, it will scatter because of the gate, and the Kandorian's will see it as a broadband transmission. A very ingenious plan, Commander," Soran replied.

"Very well. Make it so," Somerset ordered Now we wait, and pray that this works, Somerset thought to himself.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay in me posting, I have had to be in business meetings, you know those sales men can't function without us engineers. Anyway, Gallion or Sommerset or whomever, give me some advice exactly where I should pick up and post. I was thinking about posting about the repairs on the Shogun, but I want to keep the flow together. So let me know the best way and I'll post today.

I'd say that repairs are fine, but Ristar should watch his back, because even in a friendly port, one never knows what can happen. Especially with that wily Corsair at the helm of this thing. wink.gif

Cmdr. Ryker sit back in his black leather chair scratching his head wondering. What could be so important the Ben and Josh need to speak to me this soon. I have only been in this new position a few weeks. It sounded urget. Well, I gues I'd better get off my duff and get down there and see what is up. After all this is what I have worked for all my life. Now is the time to step up to the plate and hit the ball. Besides I am not alone on this, I have great people and trusted friends working with me.

Ryker, stood up and made his way down to Cmdr. Zwychy's office. The anticipation and excitement whatever was to come next.

"Hi, Miss Cartwright, I am Cmdr. Ryker I believe Cmdr. Zwychy is expecting me. Could you let him kown I am here."

Lydon, Krynon

ECV Event Horizon

For a brief second the light of a star seemed to extinguish, then as suddenly as it had disappeared it burst back into view with a brilliance that seemed to pierce space like a blade...

The Event Horizon specialised in cloaked operations and was no stranger to missions requiring the ship to operate in conditions whereby she would be almost certainly destroyed should she be discovered. She had been transfered from study of an Insugant Starbase immediately it had become clear how grave the Gammulan situation had become, although it had taken what seemed like an age for De Bruce to get his ship into a position at which he could be of use to the friendly forces he was to support. He was forced to use only main engines because a Hyperjump could be so readily detected.

On the bridge of the cloaked EarthCom vessel Event Horizon Cmdr Robert De Bruce studied the TACOP's computer, his fingers steepled together, his expression mirrioring his serious mood. On the screen the formations of the two waring fleets were clearly visible - a mighty standoff in a game of chess that could alter the balance of power throughout the universe.

"Move us into flanking position 1000 clicks from Kandorian warship classified Alpha 28 and begin identifying and classifying the remaining Gammulan warships...", he commanded, "I want to be able to set up the FATAL system to select the most important targets as soon as the fighting commences."

"Alfirmative Captain.", replied Lt David Garvey, Tactical Officer onboard the battlecruiser.

De Bruce sat back to wait. There was nothing he could do for now except prepare to assist the assembled GALCOM fleet when the time came...

1825, March 15, 3008

Lydon, Krynon

ECV Event Horizon

The Communications Officer spun round in his chair. "Sir. A communication from the jumpgate comms. repeater! Gammulan encoding Sir." In his excitement the Officer had ignored the fact he could communicate with the ships Captain via the comms. system.

"Very well James, lets see it." the Commander replied.

"Computers are decoding it how Sir." A message transfer icon flashed on the Commanders console and he brought the message into view. De Bruce read the message three times before he was certain he had not missed anything, then he connected his intercom to the Comms Officer. "James, prepare to transmit a narrow band recognition signal to the GCV Swiftsure. I think its time we announced our presence to a select few... Next transmit the intercepted message to Cmdr Somerset so he knows whats going on."

" Aye Aye, Captain."

De Bruce turned to the Tactical Officer. "Whats the ship status please, Dave?"

"Alert Status is Red One - Cloaked, shields down to reduce emissions signature, weapons powered down but on ready standby, and main engine is offline. RADAR is operating in passive mode, as are all our external sensors. Four FATAL targets, classified as Gammulan wingleader vessels, have been passive locked. We are also currently holding position 1000 clicks from Kandorian warship classified Alpha 28, with all systems showing green," the officer replied.

"Prepare to decloak the ship..." De Bruce switched the intercom so he could talk to the entire crew, "Now here this... we are preparing to decloak. This is a tense situation everybody, so I want your usual excellent job. Captain out."

Also can somebody tell me how you get bold and italics up, and how you use smilies within a post from this form. Cheers

Right, I've modified this post a little and I'll decloak the ship in the next one now. Thanks for the help Ben Z - I'm new to this.

That's not too bad, Robert, but the cloaking issue raises it's head again. You can't just stay cloaked indefinetly, waiting for something to happen in the standoff. What you can do is go and hide in a debris field while your cloak cools down, or it's going to start spewing radiation all over the place. (Btw, Ben Somerset's ship is the GCV Swiftsure, not the Sureswift. wink.gif)

For doing italics, bold, links etc, click on the 'UBB Code is ON' link next to the box where you type (or paste) in your post, and to do the smilies, click on the 'Smilies Legend' link. Both of these pages will tell you how to do all sorts of nice things smile.gif

I need to get caught up on things.I'll give a brief post about the Shogun pulling out of dock and heading to the Rinaal system. I'll leave the post as me leaving the system. I won't put a time stamp on it so it could happen at any time during the role play

{rp}

The Shogun had barely limped into Gazer1. Major damage to most systems. This had come at the most inopportune moment, ISS was involved in a possible mole hunt, and the Wraith fleet seemed as if it was close to annihilation.

All the repairs had taken a few hours. Most of the systems had been repaired or replaced, and it was time they were under way, they had to get out to Rinaal to test this new system that allows the lock on mechanism to work. The Shogun had taken on new crewmembers to replace the killed or severly wounded ones. His wife, Lt.Heather Ristar, the Shogun's Flight Officer was in a coma at the Med Bay on Gazer1. She was stable, but that gave no comfort to Ristar. He would make whomever did this pay, and pay with much more than his life, he would make this person and his comrades pay.

All the old crew and the new replacements began manning their stations. Lt.Cmdr Hull, the Tactical Officer, began gathering current situation reports that they would need for a briefing during the trip to Rinaal.

Ristar had instructed a comminication to be sent to Tringad to see what his status was on LV-103.

The moorings securing the Shogun were released and it began to slowly creep out of the docking bay. Engineering was still working on most systems and most of the new systems engineers were becoming acquainted with the ship.

They headed for the jump gate, the horror of the death involved still on everyones mind, not just here but throughout the systems as the slaughter of the Wraith fleet and other GALCOM assests were being run through by the Gammulans.

{/rp}

I know it wasn't long or in depth, I just wanted to get out of the dry dock, if anyone needs the Shogun to do anything or if there's an attack or something involving me or the ship write me into it, but I need to stay on a course for Rinaal or somewhere I can test out my device for the lock on mechanism for the weapons systems.

[RP]

The scream of the claxon and the stamp and scutter of people dashing this way and that really brought home to De Bruce the efficiency of his ship. It had taken only a couple of minutes for the crew to assume their ready positions once the order to decloak the ship had been given. As the Energy field that surrounded the ship subsided, the massive bulk of the Event Horizon was brought into view. A sleek hull with black and silver markings, though one distinction of the vessel was that it bore no identification markings. Only the blink of the IFF transponder identified the vessel.

"Helm, bring us into formation flanking the Swiftsure and Comms - signal Commander Somerset that the ECV Event Horizon stands ready to assist. " De Bruce sat back in his chair, proud of the efficiency of his crew. "Tactical - bring our shields to 50% and power up the weapons and PTA systems."

"Sir, we have a problem." the Chief Engineer looked tense.

"Report!"

"The Reactor cooling system has been stressed by the prolonged cloak time. We need to power down the Reactor while the engineers get to work on it."

De Bruce appraised the dangerous situation. If the reactor was offline the ship would be effectively defenseless. "How long do you need Mr. Hilton?"

"Engineers report twenty minutes Sir."

"You have ten - get to it." The Event Horizon could not afford to be unprotected for longer than than that De Bruce thought to himself. If the battle starts the Gamms would be fighting each other to get to us first. "I will be in my ready room if anybody needs me."

De Bruce moved his console and rose from his chair before striding across the bridge to the small door that led to his private office. The door slid back noiselessly and he stepped inside...

Welcome back Robert de Bruce biggrin.gif

[rp]

1802, March 15, 3008

Jupiter, Sol

Activity on the four patrolling warships increased as their target, the GCV Shogun, entered the area from the Pluto jump point. Patrol maneuvers that had been laid in were canceled and intercept courses were plotted into each warshipÔÇÖs navigational computers. But before the hyper-drive calculations could completed by the navcomps, the target exited the Jupiter region. The leader of the four warships zipped out a priority message to the bonding authority located in Eori, Tau Ceti. She knew what would happen once she transmitted the message as she prepared her crew and the other three warships for yet another change in the plan.

1805, March 15, 3008

Undetermined Location, Gammulan Quadrant

An incomming message awoke the handler from the deep sweetness of his dreams. He quickly deciphered the data-gram and perused its contents, which in turn caused a slight increase in the handlerÔÇÖs blood pressure. For it seems that Murphy has once again work against the handler and the handlerÔÇÖs superiors plan. The handler had no choice but to activate the variation of last resort. As fast as the handler could hand-jam its response and send it, a reply to the data-gram was sent.

1802, March 15, 3008

Undetermined Location, Sol System

Once again a certain light began to blink in earnest, indicating the interception of yet another surveillance intercept. The person activated the proper decryption sequence and read what the latest intercept contained. The person noted that there has been a significant change in data and went about completion its assigned task. After ciphering the data the person sent the data-gram on its way though numerous and untraceable transmission relays to is final destination, somewhere within the Terran Quadrant. It looked like it would be a busy night, the person thought to itself as it reset the surveillance equipment and placed it back on-line.

1809, March 15, 3008

Undetermined Location, Sol System

Hari was awakened by the insistent bleating and blinking of an incomming priority message. He quickly read and acknowledged message receipt to his handler and began his final preparations for Operation NharqisÔÇÖI, The Death Place.

Hari shuddered somewhat when it dawned on him as to what the operation name meant. Then shrugged it off as he picked up his gear. He had a plane to catch and there would be a death at his final destination. Deep in what remained of his terran soul Hari knew that it would be his death that this operation would result in. His and the target he thought as he activated the transponder after receiving the proper signal and watched the once familiar surroundings of dragon central fade away.

Jupiter, Sol

The reply to the data-gram that she had sent only a few short minutes ago came quicker than the Zelon Assassin Battlecruiser Commander than she had thought could or would happen. It caught her somewhat off-guard but not the nature of the reply was not unexpected either. For the Battlecruiser Commander had already prepped her cohorts with the next phase of their contractual obligations. She gave the orders that would take the motley four warships out of Jupiter and near to an undetermined location within the Sol system.

The next phase was simple. Get to the next nav point, transmit a tetra-burst signal, wait for the reply and beam aboard their cargo. The cargo would then provide the data required to complete the next phase of the contract.

The Commander smiled as she read the next incomming transmission from the bonding authority. It seems that the principle had amended their contract. She liked the contract amendment, for the principle had added a bonus for the safe delivery and transport of the cargo to the target. Once that was completed the funds would be transferred and their contractual obligations would be fulfilled. This was gonna be a milk run, she thought as the BattlecruiserÔÇÖs Transporter beamed aboard the cargo.

More orders were given as the cargo gave the Commander the coordinates of the final destination and the target. It would be tough, she knew, but not impossible to catch t the target, it had a thirty-minute lead on them already. The Commander knew how to shave off time if required. She had done it before and was confident that she could do it again.

Four warships, two Ter/Merc Stormcarriers and two Zel/Assassin Galactan Class Battlecruisers departed the Sol system and began their chase of an elusive foe; the GCV Shogun.

The noise had stopped and the smoke began to clear in the forward cargo hold of the Gammulan transport T'nar Kaltak. Three of the ten Corsair Marines that had beamed over lay splattered about the immediate area around the Sergeant. The fools failed to remember one of the golden rules of the Ultimate Weapon ÔÇô they didnÔÇÖt keep their heads down.

The Gunney and his squad had completed placing their charges throughout the engineering deck. Some were in plain sight, others were not. Some were booby trapped whilst others were not. The Gunney didnÔÇÖt have time to be creative, he had a mission to complete and another squad to pull out of the river. The battle noise on the comm-link had died down and that concerned the Gunney. Just because there wasnÔÇÖt any noise doesnÔÇÖt mean that everything went to Hades in a hand-basket.

Something kept buzzinÔÇÖ the GunneyÔÇÖs gray matter as the squad prepared to moved out and towards the forward cargo hold. The Gunney had been aboard many Gammulan vessels before and had become somewhat of an expert in how the Gams maintained their ship systems. The transport he was currently on seemed to be a Gammulan transport but to the Gunney something was not quite right but he could not put his finger on it.

The Gunney shrugged it off as the squad reached the hatchway that lead away from the engineering deck. He would think it about it when he had the chance for now he was busy trying to get his squad to the forward cargo hold and find out what happened to the Sergeant and his squad.

Lyndon, Krynon

Not much surprised the Gammulan Vanguard leader anymore. Since the beginning of this offensive he had seen more tricks than a Vesperon Har In any event, Mor-Dr decided to go against reason and do something to get the battle moving once again. Mor-Dr watched as four warships left the Gammulan lines, heading towards the newest entry in system  the ECV Event Horizon.

It was time to do something completely different, something that even the cowardly Wraiths could not predict.

It was time to do what Gammulan Warriors do best.

It was time to deploy the Ultimate Weapon of the Gammulan Empire.

Orders had finally come in from the War Council. Operation NharqisÔÇÖI, The Death Place was activated. Transporters of all Gammulan Warships were filling with Warriors eager to face the cowardly and weak Terran Wraiths. The plans was simple. Warriors would beam from every Gammulan Vessel within the system to every Wraith and Mandorian warship that opposed them. At the same time the warships of the Gammulan Fleet would engage the defending warships. Each defending ship would be attacked simultaneously from two fronts, one interior and one exterior. Mor-DÔÇÖr knew that the Wraith and Mandorian warships had no chance as he gave the order to activate the transporters of his warship and the warships of the Vanguard.

The Wraith Massacre had begun or so the Gammulans thought.

Somerset ÔÇô do not bring in the Kandorians. I will get them in-play in my next post this weekend.

To those in Lyndon, Krynon ÔÇô approx. twelve (12) heavily armed Gammulan Warriors have boarded each Terran/Mandorian warship. The Gammulan Fleet has renewed offensive operations against ye too.

Commander de Bruce  You are  up  creek without a paddle  . Think about ye actions in yer next post.

To All ÔÇô no superman smack. The Gams are up to ye tricks now. Please keep it believable and within reason. We are at the half-way point.

Sorry for not posting all, I was gone for two days, then had a CAP (Civil Air Patrol) meeting as soon as I got home (that's right, Cadet Basic Ramsay here smile.gif)

[rp on]

The Humble Pie's Tac Officer, Ben Lucas, jumped up and yelled, "Commander, we've got over a dozen intruders onboard! They just beemed in from no-where!"

Tringad turned to him and said, "Damn. Ben, get a Marine detachment on it now!"

"Eye, Commander, Sergeant Tosck's team is on it" replied Lucas.

"Those damn Gams, they said we could pass through. But no Gam ships in the region? Then what..."

"Commander," Lucas interupted, "the intruders are in two teams. Sgt. Tosck's team is engaging the first team, but the second is making there way to the first."

"Ok, tell Sgt. Graner's team to meet me on the Engineering deck, we'll stop that second team."

[rp off]

Sorry for the short post, but I only have a minute.

Gallion, feel free to post for me if you want, I don't know when I'll post next. Probably tomorrow.

Sorry I've not been posting lately...to tell you the truth I thought this thing sorta died...I'm gonna come up with something quick to explain the disappeared of the GCV Defiant, the 6 BCs granted to the Hammer heads by the Marauders and the 2 err 1 transport full of Masada Starbase personnel.

What had started out as a normal jump through a jumpgate, turned sour very fast. As soon as the jump "completed" Bandus realized he wasn't where they were suppose to be. He got up from his command chair, walked over to the TACOPs screen asking for a report.

"What's going on? Where are we?" Bandus asked.

"I...I'm not sure, sir. We were suppose to have emerged near Wraith Headquarters. The entire fleet is still with us, but we don't appear to be where we are suppose to be."

"I can see that. But like I said, where are we?" asked Bandus again.

The junior officer manning the TACOPs center was baffled, but had never cracked under pressure before. He would also never be beaten by a problem and if he didn't know an answer...he'd find it..quickly.

"I'm not sure, sir...give me a minute." requested the officer.

After a few moments, and completed calcuations the officer looked up and said "The entire fleet has appeared to emerged in Nullspace, sir. I've heard of one ship randomly jumping there, but never a group."

Bandus shook his head, "This is exactly what I told the Fleet Commander wouldn't happen."

All of Delta Wing was once again trapped in space. Bandus hit the intercom button on his command chair and said "Attention crew. We are currently in the same situation as the Delta Wing was in before my command. Now we can either die...like they did...or we can figure out how to get out of here. I don't know about you all, but personally, I want to get the hell out. That is all."

The crew, with a new objective at hand, set to work.

Bandus hit a button to radio the rest of the fleet "The GCV Defiant's crew is currently working to figure a way out of our situation. Stay close to us, and don't try anything without clearing it with me first. Bandus out."

Bandus looked around, in disbeleif that while he was in this void...the rest of the fleet, his comrades, may be dieing.

Lydon, Krynon

GCV Swiftsure

"Commander, there's a ship decloaking off the starboard aft!" Kamarov yelled as his proximity alert went off at his station.

Somerset looked ahead calmly "Lock weapons, and prepare to fire."

"Sir, I'm reading a friendly IFF," Melanie reported from Comms. "I'm also getting a message. The ECV Event Horizon, and they stand ready to assist."

"The vessel is moving into flanking position, Commander," Soran reported.

"Very well. Signal them that we appreciate the assistance. Status of the enemy?" Somerset questioned.

Ishikawa checked his console and said "They are still holding position. No sign of any change."

There was still something bothering Somerset. They had just sat and waited for what seemed like an eternity. For now, the Gammulans were doing nothing. Then the thought occured to him, They must be waiting for something...and it's only a matter of time before whatever it is happens...we don't have much time.

"Number One, Condition Red. Have all hands stand to Battle Stations, and get those Marines suited up and ready for any possible activity. Melanie, order the Squadron to go to Condition Red, and have them prepare for Boarding Action. We might throw off their plans with a few well placed Marines," Somerset ordered.

The officers acknowledged their orders as klaxons went off, and crew started manning Battle Stations. A few minutes later Kamarov reported, "All Battle Stations manned and ready, sir. Major Harris reports Alpha Squad in the transporter room ready for Boarding action."

"Have the Major deploy the rest of his men to repel possible boarders. If we came up with the idea, it's a sure bet the Gammulans did too. And have him send a Squad up to the Bridge. I don't want to try and fight a ship battle as well as a battle on my own bridge."

"Aye-aye, sir," Kamarov said, and leaned over to talk into his headset.

The Bridge doors slid open to reveal 10 heavily armed Marines, in addition to the 2 sentries always posted on the Bridge. "Gunny Watkins, reporting as ordered, sir!"

"Gunny, situate your men to hold this position. I want this place held at all cost." Somerset said quietly.

"Aye-aye, Commander!" The Gunny said as he waved his hands, and positioned his men around the Bridge.

Almost before they were done, Soran reported, "Commander, the enemy vessels are moving. Course 213, mark 105. They are coming towards us."

"Their weapons are charging, and shields are going up!" Kamarov said.

Somerset keyed his console, and opened a channel to his Squadron and said "All ships, go to half-impulse, defensive pattern Delta. Prepare to engage the enemy."

A few seconds later, Soran said "Commander, multiple invasive transports. There are intruders aboard!"

Somerset keyed his shipwide intercom "Intruder Alert, all hands set Condition One. I say again, set Condition One." He cut the intercom and ordered, "Number One, secure the main computer from possible hackers. Major, secure Main Engineering, the transporter room, and the Launch Bays."

"Enemy now coming into weapons range..." Kamarov said.

The Battle of Lydon had begun. From within, and without. It would not be a pretty battle.

1840, March 15, 3008

Lyrius/Sirius

The four Mercenary/Assassin warships just missed their target window and thus missed their opportunity to deliver the cargo by just a few seconds to the target. The leader of the motley crew of four warships swore silent curses to herself, of which a few of he bridge crew managed to over hear, for missing the target window. And the target escaped via the Lennon jump point.

The leader shouldnt be complaining much. The motley crew she lead had made up the time lost by their blunder in Jupiter. They were only four minutes behind the fleeing target. Orders she gave and they were relayed to the transporter room. They would be ready the second that they were able to attain a transporter beam signal lock on the target. Of that she knew, of that she was certain for if they did not then heads would roll, and it would not be hers

1835, March 15, 3008

Undetermined Location, Gammulan Quadrant

The handler paced the confines of his rather Spartan abode restlessly as he waited for an update, any update, to the latest phase of the plan. Scattered updates were beginning to trickle in form the renewed offensive in Lydan.

The updates he had received were reassuring ÔÇô if they were to believed. The handler was quite aware of the Gammulan Warrior tradition of embellishing reports of battle. All to often they were inflated and thus worthless. But this time seemed different to the handler. There was a truth that seemed to sing out from the battle reports that hadnÔÇÖt been heard by him in sometime ÔÇô at least with one commander that is.

1826, March 15, 3008

LV-103, Alpha Cygni

Activity resumed to the normal calm that the crew of the Graf Spee were accustomed to as the distance to the Gammulan transport,T'nar Kaltak, decreased and reached 100km. At that time the ship deactivated its cloaking system and target solutions were finalized and locked in. Though the Corsair Battlecruiser was damaged, it was still more than a match for the LRT-10 Transport emitting Gammulan IFF transponder codes. More than a match indeed.

What concerned the Commander of the Graf Spee most was that contact had been lost with the two Marine squads that were beamed over to the transport earlier. Many things went through the commanderÔÇÖs mind, from equipment failure to communications jamming by the crew of the transport. But no matter how hard he tried he always came to one possible, not unforeseen, possibility ÔÇô the Gams got the upper-hand and had defeated or captured his Marines. This was something the commander did not want to admit or even contemplate.

The distance between the two space vessels decreased to 40 kilometers, almost within missile range. Once the range got to 30km, five Questor missiles would be launched from the Graf Spee towards the hapless Gammulan transport followed by IOD and PTA turret fire. Either way, the Commander was going to get the parts he needed to repair the Graf Spee.

1847, March 15, 3008

Lydan, Krynon

The tactical results of the latest offensive were impressive to Mor-DÔÇÖr and the rest of the Gammulan leaders. A plethora of Warriors had been transported from each Gammulan vessel in the Lydan system to the defending Wraith and Mandorian warships. As expected, the Wraith Vessels were better prepared than their Mandorain counterparts. Several Mandorian warships were adrift in space as a result of the double onslaught attack by the Gammulans. It is difficult enough to defend oneÔÇÖs warship from external attacks, but to have to defend oneÔÇÖs warship from both an external and internal attack ÔÇô well that can be near impossible.

What concerned Mor-DÔÇÖr was the report of a Wraith counter-offensive that coincided with the renewed Gammulan offensive. The cowardly Wraiths managed to find their backbones in their spineless terran arses and were doing the same thing that the Gammulans were doing ÔÇô though on a limited but almost as effective scale. Several Gammulan Warships were also adrift in space. Their ship systems destroyed from within. It is to bad that the Wraiths couldnÔÇÖt press the issue. There were to few of them as it was.

All across the Gammulan Fleet the attack Warriors were transported back to their motherships. Not as many returned as had departed but for those that survived the battle, their mission was complete and successful. The deployment of the Gammulan Ultimate Weapon had once again tipped the scales of war and battle in the GammulanÔÇÖs favor.

Mor-DÔÇÖr smiled as his ship lined up and engaged the nearest Wraith vessel adrift in space and fired all weapons mercilessly at the hapless vessel. Within seconds its hull integrity and reactor went critical. Several seconds later the black void of space was brightened by the end-result of a uncontained and uncontroled nuclear reaction hit critical mass and exploded. Spewing its mass in all directions and to travel the cosmos forever unless intercepted by some planetary, solar, or other unsuspecting wayfarer.

To the Gammulan Fleet leaders in Lydan it seemed as if Wraith would live up to its name and just fade away into the depths of Hades, taking their Mandorian allies with them too. A single GALCOM battlecruiser entered the system from the Antis jumppoint. Four more Terran/Zelon warships entered the system just milliseconds behind it.

This caused some confusion with some in the Gammulan Fleet for a priority target had entered the battlezone. A target, that if destroyed, would increase the stature of the commander and his crew within the Gammulan Military. Some warships, five in all, disengaged from the Wraith/Mandorian turkey-shoot to engage the newcomer.

No Kandorians yet Ben S.

Lucas, the Humble Pie's tac officer, stared at his screen in shock. "Sh*t! Mk II Battlecruiser decloaking at 100km! It's the Graf Spee! Wait, then those intruders are... sh*t!" He paged Tringad's comm pad, that he wore on his wrist at all times, to tell him the news. "Commander, the Graf Spee has just decloaked off our bow. They're at 50km and closing! Those intruders are probably Galcom Marines!"

Tringad looked up at Sgt Graner, seeing the shock in his eyes. Galcom Marines? We're fighting GALCOM MARINES??? Tringad asked himself in his head. "Sergeant, tell your men to cease fire now!" then Tringad opened a comms link to Sgt Toth, "Sergeant, cease fire! Those are Galcom Marines you're engaging!"

"Sir? Galcom Marines? Are you sure?" asked Toth.

"Yes! Now cease fire!" yelled Tringad.

"Yes, sir!" came Toth's reply.

Sgt Graner's men stopped firing. When they did this, the fire from Gunny York's Graf Spee marine team lessened, though only a fool would cease fire completely.

Tringad waited, but the fire from Yorks team did not stop. Surrender, though Tringad, that's it! I'll surrender!

Tringad quickly tore off his top-shirt, and then his white t-shirt. He tied the t-shirt to the end of his laser-rifle, and stuck it around the corner he was taking cover behind.

"Sergeant, have your men throw their rifles to the ground, between us and them," Tringad ordered, "and tell Sergeant Toth's team to do the same."

As the Graner's men threw their rifles to the ground, the fire from York's team stopped.

Tringad took in a breath and then yelled, "Listen, I know you're from the GCV Graf Spee. This is Commander Alun Tringad of the GCV Black Falcon. I'm on orders to assist the Falkyrie Resistance on LV-103. I would like to meet face to face with your squad leader, and..."

Gunny York was surprised at the mention of the name Alun Tringad. He had met Tringad before, in a situation not unlike this one. The Graf Spee's marines had boarded the vessel Tringad was commanding.

This could be a trick, York thought, but I'm not so sure.

[rp]Ben led Commander Ryker over to the console and Briggs brought up the summary lists of what had been found and who the prime suspects were. He quickly digested the information.

"We haven't got any leads strong enough to act on. We'll need to keep a close watch on all these people for suspicious activity."

"I agree, but maybe you've missed someone."

"Who?" asked Ben, taken by surprise.

"Tepes. When was he given the Dark Sun?"

"Jaromir? No way! He recruited me into ISS, and he's one of my best friends on station. It couldn't be him."

"25th March 3007," reported Briggs.

Ben was stopped in his tracks.

"Less than one month before the discrepancies started. I'd say we have another prime suspect." concluded Ron.

"I don't believe it could be him! Why would he?"

"Maybe someone got to him in his new environment, maybe he was disgruntled at having his core access taken away. He would have the technical knowledge to hack into the system if he really wanted to."

"I know him, He's not like that. It couldn't be him!"

"You're getting emotionally involved in this investigation, Ben. You can't afford to do that. If you want to clear your friend, he'll have to be watched."

Ben rubbed his eyes and nodded.

"OK, but he's on patrol with the Defense Wing, isn't he? How do you plant surveillance devices all over an active ship without any of the crew noticing?"

"You don't." said Josh, instantly getting the attention of both of them.

"Oh. What's your plan, Josh?"

Dilvorn walked over to the computer console that Zwycky had just been using, "It's simple really," he said to the commanders as he began typing commands into the computer. After a few moments he had accessed the technical blueprints for GCV Dark Sun. "You see, the Dark Sun is well overdue for an overhaul. For example the commlink computer is well past it's recommended replacement cycle. Not to mention the reactor cooling system."

Zwycky spoke up, "So, being the defense wing commander, you could order Tepes and the Dark Sun back to Renegade for a systems overhaul."

"Exactly" replied Dilvorn.

Zwycky continued, "And during the overhaul we install some non obtrusive surveillance equipment."

"But won't the crew be a little suspicious when we start bringing that kind of equipment on board the ship?" asked Ryker.

Zwycky turned to Dilvorn, "That's why we get rid of them, put them all on another ship."

Dilvorn stared blankly at the two commanders, not realising immediately what Zwycky was suggesting. Then it clicked. "Well I guess my crew could do with a holiday. But I'm going to need you to organise some accomodation for my crew though. And I'm also going to need to requisition one of those T3 shuttles we have down in storage."

"I'll get Miss Cartwright to organise that."

Dilvorn then sat down at the terminal and called up the commlink program. After a while, the message was sent:

Bandus sat in his command chair...hoping that his crew could figure some way out of this void. He had been brainstorming for hours on anything that might work. They had already tried a simple hyperspace jump but it seemed that the space itself held onto the ship as they tried to jump. They had to shut down the engines to prevent them from overloading.

The TACOPs Commander looked up at Bandus and said, "Sir, we are preparring to attempt another hyperspace jump. This time we have every bit of available power to the engines."

Bandus nodded and said, "Proceed."

A computer voice said "10 seconds till hyperspace jump...9...8...7..6...5...4..3..

"Abort the jump!" Bandus said.

The Navigations officer complied "Aye, sir. Hyperspace jump aborted."

Bandus hit a button and was instantly patched through to the Chief Engineer of the Defiant.

"Our hyperspace field was not strong enough to break free of the space that is holding us, correct?"

"Thats right, sir." said the Chief Engineer.

"Well what if we bring the fleet close together. Very close together. We would form one big hyperspace field that might be strong enough to get us out..right?" Bandus asked.

"I'm not sure. The fleet may come out of hyperspace right on top of each other if it works." the chief Engineer said.

"Lets try it." Bandus replied.

"Aye, sir." the chief engineer replied, and the intercom went dead.

Comm. Ryker was busy sitting at his desk going over the surveillance

Team that will put Dark Sky under OpÔÇÖs. With an in intense look of frustration on his face Comm. Ryker had everyone assembled on the surveillance team except the unit leader.

His last unit leader Lt. Comm. Bryan Green was currently suspended for disobeying a direct order from his CO (Myself), endangering the lives of his unit, and breaking security clearance with fleet command.

ÔÇ£Who can I get to lead this unit, someone I can trust explicitly. Someone who will remain loyal to me his crew and the fleet no matter what, Ryker thought to himselfÔÇØ

Ryker turned to his computer and logged in on the fleet personal files.

As he began to scroll through the active status he saw to his amazement Lt. Commander Seth Grayson. Status: Active, Assignment: Open. Wow!! Just the person IÔÇÖve been looking for.

Grayson was a member of the Olympus II under the command of Comm. Ryker about a year ago. He took personal leave just before being promoted to Comm. Rykers 1st officer. No one really knew the nature of the emergency leave, but Grayson was and is an outstanding officer and had kept an exemplary record with Galcom.

Ryker turned to his desk comm. link to speak with his secretary.

ÔÇ£Lt. White.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£Yes sir, Comm. Ryker.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£I need you to prepare the paper work for Lt. Commander Seth Grayson to be assigned to CIOPS as Unit Commander of Intelligence and Surveillance. I will send you the personal information from my computer. Send it to Fleet Command for approval ASAP!!!

ÔÇ£Yes Sir, I am on it.ÔÇØ

Comm. Ryker turned and began to type a top security message to Lt. Commander Grayson ordering to him to report to Renegade Station. Just as he finished the message his comm. link flashed ÔÇ£Security Message Urgent!ÔÇØ Ryker turned and typed in his security code. It was Commander Josh Dilvorn.

ÔÇ£Comm. Ryker, it is Comm. Dilvorn.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£Yes Josh.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£The Dark Sun has docked with Renegade and the crew has been transferred to my ship. It will probably take a few hours to get everyone off the ship. As soon as the crew is off, the engineering crew will begin the overhaul procedures.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£Thanks Josh, when they have completed the overhaul let me know via my personal communicator so I can have the surveillance team move in . They will be on standby. I want them in and out as quick as possible.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£I agree Ron. We do not want anyone to suspect anything.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£Ok I will be awaiting you call, Ryker out.ÔÇØ

[/rp]

I need to know Ben, if Comm. Ristar needs any more info on Grayson. He is not holding an official command as such, but any help will do. I will be posting more on the surveillance soon. I have an idea for a little skirmish on the ship, I will email you about. wink.gif

Lt David Garveys' face turned pale. "Multiple Intrusive Transports Captain... we have intruders onboard!!" he cried.

Commander De Bruce was off his chair, over the desk and into the bridge before most of the other bridge officers had even uttered a sound. "How many intruders and give me locations NOW!!"

"Two teams sir!" The fear was clear in the mans voice, however his training was in control now. "First team are second deck, cargo bay one. Second team, Deck three, flight deck"

De Bruce, now sat in the captains chair, flicked the intercom button. "Chris - we have multiple intruders, Decks 2 and 3. Get your teams on it now... and Chris... Protect engineering at all costs. Lt. Garvey will update you from here as you need it. De Bruce out."

Security Officer Chris Raistricks' reply was swift and mechanical "Raistrick here sir, I'm on it. Out"

Lt. Garvey spun round "Captain... the Gammulan fleet... its moving sir!"

De Bruces' heart missed several beats. "What is their course, Lt?"

"General Fleet is on an engagement course sir... two Battlecruisers are on an intercept course with the Event Horizon!"

We need power, De Bruce thought to himself, otherwise we're dead in the water without even the ability to run, let alone somewhere to run to... he activated the intercom again "Mr. Hilton what is the status of the reactor?"

"Reactor offline sir... repairs underway."

The chief engineer must know something was wrong. The minute intruders had been detected, klaxons had been going off all over the ship, and De Bruce knew the security officer would have secured the Engineering spaces by now. He thought quickly "John, what power can you give me?"

There was hardly a pause - the chief had already been working on the problem. "If you rotate the ship 72 degrees, solar collector output will be approximately 31 units. Reactor will be online at approximately 20% in four minutes, with reduced cooling... but captain... I cant guarantee it'll hold even at that power."

"I understand Chief, thank-you. De Bruce out." De Bruce turned to the Flight Officer, "Rotate the ship 72 dgrees upon its central axis please. Tactical Officer, what is the status of the fleet?"

"Two Mandorain vessels have lost power and are adrift. Wraith fleet vessels are moving to counter the Gammulan attack." the officer replied. "I have FATAL lock on the two battlecruisers that are engaging us, but no power for weapons. The vessels will have us within weapons range in approximately 4 minutes..."

This is going to be close, De Bruce thought to himself. We have just enough power for launch control, assuming we still want to run life support systems, however if the intruders cant be brought to bay, that may not be an issue. "Launch interceptors 1 and 2. Transfer interceptor 3 and 4 pilots to shuttles 1 and 2."

"Gammulan vessels are beginning their attack run sir!! We need our shields NOW!" the stress on the Tactical officers face was mirrored in his voice.

"Steady Dave. Move the interceptors into position and order them to defend the ship as best they can. Launch shuttles 1 and 2. Order shuttle one to secure the Event Horizon in a tractor beam. Communications Officer transmit this message to shuttle 2 and wait for a reply..." De Bruce's face was cold, without a trace of emotion.

The Comms officer glanced over the message before turning to the captain, "Sir..."

"Do it Lt!" De Bruce barked.

"Aye Aye sir."

The wait was short, "Shuttle 2 say they will perform their duty to the ship sir. They wish us good luck..."

"Thank you, Lt..." De Bruce activated the intercom, "Chief - prepare to initiate plan alfa one... jettison the core."

"As you wish Captain." came the reply.

A rotating door in the underside of the Event Horizon slid open and the long slender bulk grey of the ships reactor core was fired from the hull, however instead of shooting into the safety of space, the core was suddenly bathed in a blue glow as it was caught by the tractor beam from shuttle 2. Spinning on the spot, the shuttles afterburner fired it towards the rapidly approaching Gammulan Warships. From the Bridge of the Event Horizon ther crew watched as the shuttle headed towards the enemy. The Gammulan vessels, with a helpless battlecruiser on their TAC screens, ignored the shuttle until it was too late. Suddenly the core erupted as its reaction overloaded, filling the viewscreen with a brilliant white light. Outside in space the shockwave from the reaction struck the Gammulan warships with a force more powerful than any conventional weapon, ripping through the shields and buckling the re-enforced hulls.

The first ship never stood a chance, taking the full blow of the explosion it was ripped in two, the rear section exploding as the engines were blown apart. Shielded by the first ship, the second vessel faired slightly better, however combined spinning debris and the shockwave were enough to serverely damage the vessel. Aboard the Event Horizon, now travelling towards the nearest system exit point under tow of the second shuttle, Commander De Bruce bowed his head and spoke a prayer for the pilots of the shuttle.

I hope you guys like my solution to the situation. I dont think the Event Horizon will be of much further use in the conflict unless somebody has a spare Reactor core, however I get to keep my head. Feel free to have the Event Horizon captured if you like... I'll go along with whatever.

I am posting under a slightly different name by the way because my password and email address for Robert De Bruce are at uni and I am on holiday so I cant access my normal account... I hope nobody minds.

Also thanx for a warm reception to the board - I hope my posts entertain.

Gentlemen,

I know I haven't been posting for a few days, but my grandfather has been in a comma for the past 2 weeks and we went to see him because the doctors said the end was near, he passed away a few days ago, I will be gone all this week to attend the funeral and help my grandmother out. Please understand my absence, and I will return to the role playing as soon as possible. I wanted you, my friends on the RPG, to know.
