And it's for what?

Recommended Posts

Hugo, For the last time I'm going to warn you. IF you are going to quote me, get it right! I said that "If I had someone who wanted to defect from the Insurgency that I would escort him to your door with my blessings. IF I had a spy, I'd summarily execute that spy!" Now you've been issued this final warning. Get it RIGHT or don't attempt to quote me. Reprocussions will surely follow if you choose to ignore my warnings. Understood?

And notice that there are no RP Tags here Hugo.

Hugo, you have once again proved to us the underhanded methods and brainless belief in the UFN's propaganda. And here is the end result of such belief: in order to create a sense of "right" you have stooped to misquoting, half truths, and material take out of context to form your basis. You have proven nothing but your own gulibility.

Cmdr. Hugo, if you insist upon quoting my words, quote the entirety of the sentence and in this case, the context.

This is a true case of GalCom not telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. In typical GalCom fashion, Hugo decided to only use my words in which benefit him and his cause, rather than pointing out the entirety of the facts at hand. Notice, everyone, that he didn't even complete the the sentence.

His quote was as follows:

quote:

killing is as much a part of the Insurgent lifestyle

That's what he quoted me as saying. I do not deny saying this, yet he conveniently forgot to include the entire context which is this:

quote:

Sadly
, killing is as much a part of the Insurgent lifestyle
as freedom. But our methods are not self-imposed. They are brought on by being banished and outlawed from our homes. Brought on by the division of our families, simply because we want a better, freer Earth, as it was intended to be.

As you all can so plainly see at this very moment, Hugo did nothing but bend the truth to aid in his lies. This is why GalCom mustn't be allowed to continue the practices in which it indulges so frequently. The people - all of humanity - have a right to know the complete and utter truth.

GalCom obviously isn't willing to make that concession yet.

Think about it.

Hugo, you're digging a hole for yourself. I suggest you try a different method. wink.gif

I do admit that Cmdr. Hugo has ben a bit ling on his propaganda and a bit short on his history, but look at it this way: there will ALWAYS be a better way of running things, and there will ALWAYS be someone saying they know it and others don't. But look at Galcom. Most humans tend to forget that while Galcom's headquarters is orbiting Earth, Galcom does not just reperesent Earth or the Sol system. Galcom is the only inherently peaceful collation of races in the galaxy. While it is true that Galcom has done some pretty despicable things in it's past, our core goal has always been to extend peace to other races and worlds, because with peace come safty, security, and happiness. While I admit I admire the goal of the Insurgency to bring down a corrupt governement, I am disapointed by the Insurrgent goal to bring down Galcom. As we speak, the worlds of Galcom are trying to liberate a repressed and exploited people, the Falakries, from what I belive we can all agree is the most frightening and dangerous race in the galaxy, the Gammulans.

You Insurgents, to me, seem to be confused. You lash out at Galactic Command, a group that strives for harmony of all people, of all planets, of all civillizations, while your real enemy is Earth Command.

I openly admit I have no love for Earth. I was born and raised on beatiful Centris, and my entire carrer I have spent defending our brother Empirians from raiders, Gammulans, mercnearys, and even Insurrgents. I look upon Earth in pity, for while it is the home of my race, it has fallen into corruption. This I admit. And while I also admit killing your people, Insurgents, I also feel very sad. I see you attacking a peacful people who have done you no wrong, and courageus and idealistic lives are wasted because you are misdirected in your actions.

When I left home, I had tw paths I could have gone down, two groups I could have strenghtend. In the begining, I was tempted to join the Insurrgent cause, because they strove toward freedom and liberty for Sol. But instead I chose Galcom, which strived for liberty and freedom for the galaxy.

But there is another reason I chose Galcom. While the Insurrgents are by nesscity a millitary driven organization, Galcom strives for freedom by non-violoent venues. If the Insurrgents "take over", they will control and organize the only way they know how, by millitary action. But Galcom, already a group that knows how to run a governement, rules by vote and peace, and strives for the good for all.

Even in my short time in Wraith, I have seen Galcom at its very best. Even now, brave men and women are spending thier lives in the hope that the Falakries, our nieghbors and brothers in this small galaxy, will soon once again remember what it is like to be free.

Insurrgents, you have a most powerful hate, and use it like a sharp knife to cut down your enemies. But your aim is poor, and instead of lashing out at your true foes, you damage a people that might have even helped you in your quest.

[rp]

That's long. And a bit futile I suppose. You think the SC would let Galcom help the Insurrgence and take out EarthCom smile.gif? Boy, that would be a turn of the tables biggrin.gif.

I once too believed as you do liev, that the UFN served to protect the greater good, that GALCOM stood for truth and honor.

But as my career continued I became witness to such depridations as numb the soul, perpetrated by fellow commanders who only acted under orders.

I said enough, and followed the path of others far more worthy than I. The Insurgancy is the last, desperate hope of humanity to free itself from the shackles of

oppression.

Ah, but Whisper, Our original goal was to cripple EARTHCOM and force it to be disbanded by the UFN. Galcom it would seem jas found fit to interefere with us. Because of that, we are now forced to battle both EARTHCOM and GALCOM.

/rp off

the first part is from the manual, the second 1/2 is speculation. But it would seem that we are at war with GALCOM as well, though why isn't clear. Just that ingame GALCOM ships fire on Insurgents.

Now, see? This is what might be at the heart of this topic. Note: what I am about to say puts into question one the most favorite institutions on this board, the hate/hate realationship between Galcomers and Insurrgents. This doesn't mean I really think we should all get together and hold hands, 'cause that's not very fun!

But think about it. Why did Galcom and the Insurrgents start fighting each other? After looking throught the manual, I found this (not quoting): as Sol became aware and began assoicating with alien races, they also spent an increasing amount of resources on millitary and exploration, areas which the Insurrgents believed were already highly over budget. When Galcom was formed, under the consent of Earthcom and the Emperian and Vesperon governments, the starstaion around Earth was converted into Galcom HQ.

Now, I have a theroy: to a people already weary of alien intervention, the Insurrgents saw this as the final straw, in which Earthcom had now annexed entire alien nations. Believing Earthcom was the real ruler of this new galactic union, the Insurrgents merely declared war on this new manifestation of thier old enemy.

Nowadays, Earthcom has sunken into the backround, while the Insurrgents have apperered to all but forgotten about thier real foe, and spend the vast amount of thier resources fighting three unified nations, instead of just one little planet.

[rp]

"Freedom for Earth!", you often cry, so why do you fight a govenment that holds no direct jurisdiction of Earth? If you're going to wage a war, Insurrgents, wage it with the right folks! Galcom's still in this fray because you people keep attacking us! If you just concentrate on Earth, you'll probably get it!

[rp]

Insurrgents have anything to say about this? All satements of fact are from the Almighty Manual Herself smile.gif, and all the stipulations are gleaned from it. Anyone have a different idea of what went on?

Whisper, the reason the fighting evolved from Earthcom to include GalCom, in my recollection at least, was the very purpose of Galcom's formation. I quote the manual, page 21, paragraph 4:

quote:

(Describing GALCOM) The organization's primary objective was to maintain law and order within it's member's regions...

The members of GALCOM are currently the Terrans, Empirians, and the Vesperons. The official Earth goverment is the UFN whose military is EARTHCOM. The UFN is, essentially, the Terran government within GALCOM meaning, their laws are to be upheld along with the laws of the other members. To that end, the UFN has declared the Insurgency and outlaw organization meaning that our very existance is illegal. Hence, GALCOM inherits us as an enemy.

[RP]

Tac, you had better do a better job with your people before they become our public relations department! To quote your eccentric Commander Liev,

quote:

If you're going to wage a war, Insurrgents, wage it with the right folks! Galcom's still in this fray because you people keep attacking us! If you just concentrate on Earth, you'll probably get it!

Sounds to me like there's a serious flaw with this Galcommie's logic!

Okay, so I admit that Earthcom is in bed with Galcom, which is also around to protect its nations from internal warfare. But where did you get this information that states Galcom Navy is composed mostly of Earthcom ships? Sure, Sol has all sorts of Earthcom running about, but as I keep saying, there's more to Galcom than just Sol!

Oh! I'm eccentric! I always wanted to do that! smile.gif And be sure, with Galcom being a free and equal government, I feel no qualms stating that I personally feel that Earth would be in better hands with the Insurrgents, as long as they stuck with thier admirable ideals once they control Earth.

Flaw with my logic? Do you think that if the Insurgents don't concentrate on Earth they will get it? True, Galcom is in this because Earthcom wanted help repelling your people, but that is just a part of Galcoms duty to its nations. If the Insurrgents played they're diplomacy good enough, Galcom might even SUPPORT the Insurrgent cause!

We'd have to move HQ, though. I never liked it around Earth anyways. I've always though Tramis was a much better location, more central. Of course, I'm rather outspoken with my peers, but that's okay. I have every right to be eccentric! smile.gif
