MAN! A lot has happened in the past couple days. I'd better catch up.

GCV McKendrick

Medibay

After searching for several minutes, Caine finally came across someone who was willing to bother giving him the direction of the McKendrick's medibay.

After a quick ride in a lift, he managed to lead the engineers, and his new, blind friend, to the bay.

There he saw that nearly every bed was filled with injured, but at least the chaos was controlled. Not having the impending explosion of a ship makes running a med bay easier.

He led the blind man to a bed.

"Let me know when you get an outside line. I have a few things to do." Caine whispered quietly to him, carefull to not be overheard. He would have just had his implant fixed, but somehow he doubted that would be allowed.

He then smiled, and slapped him on the back genially before leaving the bay.

Caine then turned his steps to the bridge. After all, the ringmaster of this little circus did leave an open invite to see him about problems and such.

[/rp]

Well, it's not so much a problem, as it is an offer

The Leo is still following. By the way, it is, and always has been, uncloaked. No one has told Jo to be indiscreet.

Officer Stateroom 3

Savage took a deep breath and paused outside the allocated quaters to his wayward young commander. He hesitated before ringing the door chime when two of the recruited Insurgents turned around the corridor and headed past him. Savage politely nodded to them as they approached, and they returned the gesture with

a similar, if not outwardly friendly tilt of the head. When they had passed, Savage again tried to bring himself to sound the door chime.

Take it easy Karl, this wont be as difficult as you're making it.

He took in a deep breath then pressed the chime.

A minute or more passed before the door slid open. Standing before him was young Akuma Minako, a short, thin and very damp bath robe barley covering her nakedness.

Oh boy.

"Ah, im sorry. I didnt realise you were in the shower."

Akuma looked glumly at him. "I was just getting out anyway. Is there somthing I can do for you, sir?"

Savage barley registered her words. He heard them, of course, but her standing there in the bathrobe, intoxicatingly beautiful, vulnerable, innocent - all these things and more were of more urgent notice now than anything she could say.

Cool it Savage, this wasnt what you came here for ...

"Akuma," he started, wrestling control of his hormones, "we need to talk."

Immediately, she stepped back and tilted her head to the side, inviting him in.

"Thank you." he said, brushing past her and into her room.

Akuma stepped after him once he was almost in the centre of the room. The door closed behind her, and she stepped over to a dressing table adjoining the staterooms ensuite bathroom.

Savage watched her as she perched herself down on the seat, picked up a tangled hairbrush and began drawing it through her long, black hair.

Like Savage, Akuma watched him as a reflection in the mirror. He stood there with folded arms, looking both embarresed and concerned. He didnt have the same air of authority he had previously on the bridge of the Vulture, nor did he seem as imposing now as when they had first met, some time ago in the GalCom lounge. To Akuma, he now looked tired, almost old, despite his relatively young 43 years.

"You look tired." she said.

Savage squinted and brought up a hand to massage his tired eyes. "I am. Im so very damned tired."

Akuma pondered his choice of words. A simple statement of fact, or somthing more relevant burried in those words? Was he simply talking about his current physical condition, or perhaps their relationship, such as it was?

Regardless of how it was meant, a cold shiver descended down her spine the moment he finished uttering those words.

"What do you want, Karl?"

Savage pulled his hand away from his face and looked directly at her reflection in the mirror.

A simple question, he mused, and one that needs to be answered. *sigh* Here goes ...

"Things have been, well, confused of late. The outbreak of the war with the Gammulans, Akiras abduction, Rattler and this damned mission, your involvement, Neena, me ..."

Savage paused for a moment, trying to summarise what he wanted, needed to say. "Akuma," he started, quickly seating himself on the edge of her bed. "whats going on with us? I mean, is there an us at all? I know, Im involved with Neena, but for a long time now, even before that night back at HQ I've been feeling ... well, feeling things."

Savage paused again, not quite sure how to procede.

Akuma sat there, brushing her hair, her eyes never off his in the mirrors reflection.

"Listen, Im sorry about what happened in the cargo bay. I've known that you've had feelings for me for a while now, but I never really knew if it was real or jsut, well, a crush or somthing. I dunno, maybe just some sexual attraction and nothing deeper."

Savage threw his hands in the air. "I just dont know. I dont understand women. I mean, I understand women, dont get me wrong. I've had more than my fair share of understandings in the last few years. There was this one time, ah, about two years ago - this ensign from the GCV Valient and this tech from deck three maintenance-"

Savage noticed Akumas previously expressionless features were now contorted into anger.

Shut up shut up shut up shut up you *******! What the hells the matter with you? You're here, trying to establish if theres somthing betweent he two of you, and your bragging about that night to her? Hold god! You need to get help man!

"Sorry." he said. "I have a habbit of babbling incoherant garbage when Im off ballance. And believe me, Im off bllance now."

Still Akuma remained silent. Savage decided it was time he heard her side of the story.

"Just tell me Akuma, whats really going on with you. I need to know what it is we're doing."

Savage sat back and allowed Akuma to explain.

Sorry sweetheart, but we all need to know this.

Bridge

Savage returned to the bridge to find it virtually vacant. Only Reynolds, Ailsa and a junior officer stood watch on the bridge. He quickly learnt that Rattler and Gallion had left the bridge with Neena a few minutes previously to get some food, and perhaps a little rest. He didnt blame them - the next 12 hours we're going to be very busy, not to mention dangerous.

"Anything new?" he asked Reynolds.

Reynolds turned to his commanding officer and shook his head. "No, sir. We're right on schedule."

Still on schedule. Almost makes it sound as if this is routine.

"Although there is this one thing .."

Savage stepped up to him and looked over his shoulder. He frowned when he noticed what Reynolds was refering to. "Have you had TacOps confirm this?"

"Yes sir. The Tacops officer examined it just before he left the bridge. He was of the opinion that it wasnt anything out of the ordinary."

Savage regarded his Station Communications officer. "So why are you bringing it up?"

Reynolds explained. "Well, I had a hunch, sir, so I began modifying the ships external sensor array and tied them into the comms array to test my thoery. It's not conclusive, but it does suggest that we're being, ah, tailed, sir."

More than suggests it, especially considering how many Insurgents we have onboard.

Savage thought for a moment, his initial expression one of confusion. Then somthing clicked, and his expression changed to one of astonishment.

Oh my god.

Savage turned from Reynolds and took a position at the TacOps station behind Reynolds communications console. He began punching in numbers, accessing library and security functions, as well as a PDA unit he had kept on his person since the beginning of this sorry mess. Over the next few minutes, he corrolated all of the information and began running a search routine through the ships security archives. It took a few minutes for the operation to be concluded, but when it was, what Savage had feared now proved to be correct.

We've been infiltrated.

"Reynolds, get Neena up here on the double. Also, make sure all external comms and anything else that could possibly be used as a method of smuggling out a signal is locked down tight. Oh, and make sure you lock down engineering control Last thing I want is someone sending a coded message via our engine harmonics or exhaust emmisions. That been soooooo overdone, and I'd be embarrased if the mission got

screwed because of that."

Reynolds snapped off a hasty salute and went about his orders.

Four minutes later, a rather tired and less than pleased looking Neena Polovoski entered the bridge.

Savage found it almsot painful to look at her.

Not now, now is not the time to think about this. Worry about that later, right now we need to focus on our newest problem.

"What have you done now, Karl?"

Savage held up his hands. "Wasnt me, I swear. It was somebody else. At least two somebody elses according to these security logs."

Neena looked over the data Savage showed her. "What are you showing me, Karl?"

Savage explained. "Reynolds here came accross a discrepancy in the sensor readings over the last couple of hours. He showed it to your TacOps officer, who didnt believe it was anything to get excited about. Reynolds decided, based on one of his famouse hunches to tie the ships external sensors into the comms relay and-"

"Bottom line please Karl. It's late, and we've got a big day tommorow."

Savage glared at her. "Alright. Bottom line is this. By the looks of it, we're being followed and have been since at least a couple of hours into the Vultures flight. Now, whoever is folowing us is under cloak, and looks like in at least one very small vessel."

Neena would have been the first to dismiss the idea of a vessel that size being capable of being fitted with a coaking device, but her previous experiences on the GCV-Chikuma reliably informed her otherwise.

"Ok, so you think we're being followed. Not good I know, but how can you determine that it's been following us since we picked you up? If you recall, when we pulled you out of there we were under cloak, and a ship tracking the Vulture wouldnt have been able to suddenly switch to tracking a cloaked vessel."

Savage smiled. "You're right. Unless of course, the vessel thats been tracking us hasnt been following a ship, but a locator beacon of some sort within the ship."

Neena pondered this for a moment. "So what you're telling me is this. Since mid point during your flight on the Vulture, these cloaked vessels have been tracking a member of it's crew that has since been transported onto the McKendrick. Hows that possible?"

Savage shrugged. "Im not 100% sure, but Im almost certain that whoever it is either beamed onboard the Vulture during our flight and somehow remained hidden, or smuggled a device on board that the mercs with their sophisticated scanning equipment couldnt pick up on. Either way, we got intruders."

Neena frowned. "Intruders? Theres more than one."

Savage nodded again. "Yes. Once I'd worked this out, I began doing some visual checks on our compiment. And guess what? I picked up two unknowns in the cargo bay along with the rest of us. Heres the profiles on them."

[/RP]

Profile one belongs to Mr 'roid, profile two belongs to a certain Mr Chavik.

[RP]

Neena looked up at Savage when she finished examining them. "So now what?" she asked.

Savage side stepped her and moved over to the navigation console. "According to these readings, we're four hours away from entering the earth region. In three hours, we've got a mission brief. Within the next hour, I want those two tracked down and thrown in the bridge. I want them captured, not killed if at all possible. Regardless though, they need to be found, and we need to determine exactly what they are doing

here."

Neena took in a deep breath and quietly exhailed. "Ok, I'll begin a video search. As soon as I locate our unwanted guests, I'll have them aprehended."

"... and thats contestant number two." reported Neena Polovoski over her wristcom to Savage.

"Nice job." replied Savage. "Have you isolated their positions?"

"Indeed I have, Karl. Profile two is keeping a low profile amongst the mercs in berths, and profile one is taking a walk on deck three. Not sure where this ones going to, but he doesnt seem to be in so much of a hurry."

Savage stopped in his tracks when he realised he was himself on deck three. "Ah, Neena?"

"Yes karl?"

"Im in section six. Wheres our perp?"

Neena paused. "Section four, heading to five."

Dammit. Here I am, all alone, walking the corridors with a hostile comming towards me. Not good, yet again.

"Neena, pressure doors down on section five. Make it quick. Activate the radiation protocols if neccesary."

Neena was quiet for a moment, then returned amidst the sound of bulkhead doors sliding quickly into place.

"Locked down. I've taken measures to isolate the mercs berth as well. Surveilance in the berths indicates that our bad guy has just realised somthings up."

"Flood both sealed areas with KDY-15. Knock the bastards out cold."

"Acknowledged!" said Neena from the bridge. "If it breathes air, it's gonna be unconscious within the next six seconds."

Savage bunched his fists and punched the air. Yessssssssssss! Finally a good result for the home team!

"Give me some good news, Neena." said Savage into his comlink.

Neena remained silent.

"Neena? Whats going on?"

From a few feet beyond Savages current position, a loud thud echoed outwards. Then another.

What the hell?

"Karl, profile two is out cold. But we have a problem with perp one."

Uh oh.

"Ah, problem?"

Thud

"What kind of a problem?"

Thud, thud, THUD!

"Looks like perp one doesnt need air."

[/RP]

We're consolodating everything together now folks so we can get this mission briefing done and get to the serious business of rescuing Akira. Im leaving the current cliff hanger open for a little while just cos Im interested in what our 'roid is gonna do now he's discovered. Feel free to post what y'all did up till this point, but dont directly involve yourself in this little encounter here unless you got a good angle.

Remember - most of you should be tucked up in bed or getting some food this close to the briefing. If you wandering the decks like a certain misguided fleet commander I could mention, you might yet wind up in deep trouble.

Interesting place of confinement. I'm sure I'll be thrilled to wake up in your presence. But after knocking me out you claim I am still wandering the halls. Make up your mind. I went with the knockout since it was the RP.

Z'ed had long since climbed into the cockpit of the T-2 shuttle and had been watching the proceedings. Things had been boring the first part of the trip but had quickly picked up with the entrance of the Gammulan cruiser. The shuttle had lost Chavik's signature twice. Once while he was aboard that transport and the second time now that it was destroyed. Z'ed feared for the worst. He was intently searching thru the CVD trying to find a signature. The flight path was still assigned to Chavik but Chavik was not in evidence.

Z'ed inititated tacops and began another searched. This proved as fruitless as the first Z'ed got down on the floor and opened the access panels. With a few re reouted cables he boosted the power to the scanners significantly. He got back up and checked the scanner again. He thought he saw something for a moment and began tuning the scanner.

On board the McKendrick Chavik finally stowed his gear and started thinking. He seemed to be doing a lot of that lately. He hoped he would finally find someone in charge. Whether it be Blades, Rattler, or that crazy Corsair. He got up to start making his way towards the bridge when he noticed something was wrong. The "escorts" were just a little too alert and speaking to each other in quiet tones with sidelong glances at each other. Suddenly the quarters were flooded with gas. Trying to contact Rattler; Chavik only had time to activate his personal commlink before passing out.

On board the T-2 shuttle Z'ed was still searching Tacops. He wasn't having much luck. He sat back stumped. Suddenly he had an idea. He had been all over those shuttles in the junkyard and knew every system on them. Thinking furiously he went to the main computer and opened a channel to the two T-1 shuttles he knew to still be in the loose formation they had been able to keep. Using an extra two sets of scanners and the augmented power of his own he started to get a reading. As if in answer to a question the signal solidfied with amazing clarity. The shuttles had lost a lot of ground. So much so that they when they got a confirmed lock they whipped around and initiated a jump.

Z'ed grew worried. He had managed to proceed but what was he proceeding into? Perhaps he should have just run with the shuttles. No that wouldn't do. Chavik was the only one to have shown any sort of interest or compassion to him. Besides, he thought, I'm getting my damn skimmer back.

[/rp]

Zelons are greedy after all. hehe.

There you go. I know you don't like jumps in your stories but they are part of the game and part of the RP universe to me. It would be quite dramatic if the poor things jumped just off your port bow. But if you simply want them to gain on you I can live with that.

The character Blades really is a dumb bloke if he thinks Chavik is up to something after inviting him. Chavik is loyal to Rattler who is helping Blades (and himself) for now. You have a domino effect of loyalty going at the moment.

Anyway, Use the shuttles as you will. They are stock with missiles of varying types, a stowaway, and three skimmers. Use me as you will and speak for me if necessary.

The turbolift opened and let Liev onto the bridge. He saw Savage and a woman he did not recognize listening to a comm transmission of some sort. Savage was obviously exhausted, and whatever he was hearing did not seem to be improving matters. Stumbling a little with his semi-numbed knee, Liev approached Savage. Turning away from his comlink with an exasperated expression, Savage gace a weary eye to Liev and said, "Yes?"

Giving a short bow, Liev replied a little hesitantly, "David Liev, sir. You...summoned?"

Medibay

When Zeke awoke his leg had better bandages on the the fabric and duct tape he had put on. He felt strange and couldn't feel any pain coming from his leg, this made him angry.

"Damnit! Hey you, medic, come over here," Zeke called to a medic he heard nearby talking to someone about second degree burns. He heard the approaching footsteps and then, "What is it Sir?"

"I told you guys not to pump any of that sh** into me. Which part of it did you not understand?"

"I don't Sir, I wasn't one of the people working on you."

Zeke sighed, it doesn't matter now anyway, it's allready done, "What about this bionic eye problem, is someone going to come up here an fix that?"

"I believe Mr. Caine left an Engineer behind to take care of that," the medic sounded annoyed about something.

"Well bring him over. I don't want to stay in here any longer than I have to." Zeke was growing more and more annoyed with this medic.

"Sure Sir, but could I get your name first? It needs to be logged."

Zeke did a quick memory check and found the name of a Merc he had identified on the Vulture. He just hoped this person wasn't still alive, or at least wasn't in the medbay, "Frank LeBlanc. Now let's get this blindness problem fixed."

He heard the medic walk away and a few seconds later another set of feet approached him, this person sounded heavier.

"Allright, I'm not exactly a specialist in this area but I know a few things and I'm a quick learner," the engineer had a deep voice and was hard to understand. Zeke could feel fingers on his face and allowed the person to remove his eye.

"Looks like some EMP damage, you must have been having more fun than me. Allright, I can fix this in no time."

Jet finally finished running all of the tests and decided it was about time to check on his friend in the Interceptor. His scans indicated that the person was still in it and when he got there he was happy to discover that the person was still unconscious.

Back in engineering he started to work on his new method. The first step was creating the new program, this took some time. He managed to finish it though without being bothered once. The Cheif Engineer was busy watching some new engineers who he couldn't make leave, they were from the 'Leo'. Jet started the program up, it was working, but it would take some time. Thompson hid the program underneath a whole bunch of other programs and so on and then went to find his Commander.

Allready well aware that Zeke wasn't on this deck the android made his way to the turbolift. At Deck 2 he detected Zeke making his way out of the medbay.

Medbay

As the engineer placed Zeke's eye back into it's proper socket he could allready see a blurred image coming to life, then everything was clear and he could see again. The first thing he did was look around to see who and what was around. He knew right away that he was onboard a Galactan Class Battlecruiser and the Engineer who had helped him really was a big man just as Zeke had pictured.

Next he switch to infrared to see what was around that he couldn't normally see, then he tested out his night vision, just to see if it worked. A few more tests and Zeke was satisfied that the man had done a good job.

"Thank you. I will be sure to compensate your crew for their troubles. Right now I have a favour to fulfill." with that said Zeke got up, rather unsteadily, he wasn't sure what condition his leg was in. It seemed better than it was so he made his way out of the medbay.

He had to find Jet.

When Jake discovered that Thompson had not been beamed aboard and also noticed a large power spike in the vicinity of the Vulture he came to the conclusion that someone else had beamed the crew off. Just in time too, since the Vulture feel apart a second later.

Although Jake had managed to get a transporter lock on Thompson and was now tracking that down.

"Zeke, wait up."

The Commander turned to see the familar face of his CSO Jet Thompson.

"Where have you been Jet? I have been stumbling around blindly for the past couple of hours."

"Sorry Sir, the Vultures Engines were disrupting my sensors. Blind Sir? How did that happen?"

"Dang Marine and his Grenade, EMPed my bionic eye."

"Have to EMP protect it when we get back to the ship, which I suggest we do real soon before we get in anymore trouble," Jet urged his Commander.

"Sorry Jet, I have a favour that needs to be taken care of first. Do you know of anyway we can break into this ships comms systems and send a message to another ship?"

"Actually I have a program running in Engineering which might do just that." Jet responded.

"Good go down there and wait for me, I need to find Caine. He is the one who wants the message sent."

"He must be incharge of the UCV-Leo. They came along and offered assistance to the Vulture a while ago. Must of got forcefully pulled into this whole mess. When should I expect you in Engineering?"

"If I'm not there in 2 hours come looking for me. I might take care of some other things first."

Deck Three

Jet had been noticing the ship becoming more active for a while now and it was making him nervous. As he walked down the corridor he noticed some one heading his way and made sure to keep his head low.

Suddenly, security doors were put in place and he quickly realized that they had finally spotted him. The next thing he noticed was gas being pumped into the room and he rapidly switched to his auxilary air tank. He still needed air to run his human brain but this backup tank would due him for a few hours.

Thompson ran up to one of the security and began to pound on it with his fists.

Thud, Thud, THUD

After a minute of punching the door he realized that it would take him too long to get through. There were large dents in the door but by the time he got through a full security team would be assembled around the area.

Before doing anything he shot the camera which was busy recording his movements. All he had was a wrist laser which he had been hiding under his sleeve. His other weapons were hidden in a good place. There was one other thing he managed to conseal, it was the home made bomb he had assembled on the Vulture.

"I knew this would come in handy," Jet said to himself and placed the small bomb on the door, set the charge for 5 seconds and ran in the opposite direction.

There was a loud explosion followed by the automated alarm system which went off at the first sign of trouble. Back at the door he stepped through and spotted a familar face. It was that of Fleet Commander Savage, Jet could remember hearing about Savage back when he was in Galcom. Of course he only knew his face from Communications to the Susceptor when Thompson happened to be on the bridge.

Jet bowed amuzedly, "If it isn't Fleet Commander Savage, I was beginning to wonder if when you were going to show yourself." Jet scanned the area and found a security team heading their way, "Looks like your boys are coming to rescue your a**. You should know better than to wonder the halls by yourself."

[/RP]

I was wondering how long I could wander around before getting spotted.

Well looks like the kitten gets to reveal some stuff about herself....Uhhgh thanks babe..Grr. Anyway here's goes!

[rp]

Akuma's head shot up at the sound of the chime and swore perfusly throwing on a robe and running to the door..slipping twice then pressing the button to slide it open.

Oh no oh no oh no!

"Ah, im sorry. I didnt realise you were in the shower."

Akuma frowned her eyes narrowing just a bit and said in the nicest manner she could..."I was just getting out anyway. Is there somthing I can do for you, sir?"

Somthing's up...Damn it.

"Akuma," he started, wrestling control of his hormones, "we need to talk."

Akuma couldn't speak...She stepped back and gestured him in...Oh boy here we go...Okay...Distract yourself. You don't really want him in here so make him feel not wanted.

"Thank you." he said, brushing past her and into her room.

Akuma stepped after him once he was almost in the centre of the room. The door closed behind her, and she stepped over to a dressing table adjoining the staterooms ensuite bathroom.

She sat down and picked up a brush watching him from the reflection in the mirror...You bastard. She ran the brush through her hair.

He looks so...Old...Oh wait don't say that it's impolite...

I bet you are...Oh man. "What do you want, Karl?"

Savage pulled his hand away from his face and looked directly at her reflection in the mirror. "Things have been, well, confused of late. The outbreak of the war with the Gammulans, Akiras abduction, Rattler and this damned mission, your involvement, Neena, me ..."

Savage paused for a moment This is it...He's going to ask somthing important.. "Akuma," he started, quickly seating himself on the edge of her bed. "whats going on with us? I mean, is there an us at all? I know, Im involved with Neena, but for a long time now, even before that night back at HQ I've been feeling ... well, feeling things."

And those are?? Damn you Blades! Just tell me! You're acting like a frightened school boy...But you are frightened arn't you? So very scared of how this is going to turn out.

Yeah that's it...A sexual attraction. Kiss my @$$ Karl. I knew I loved you since I layed eyes on you!

Oh great...That's just what I wanted to hear...Bastard! I should tear you to shreads!

"Sorry." he said as if reading her mind... "I have a habbit of babbling incoherant garbage when Im off balance. And believe me, Im off balance now."

Akuma fumed in her little corner this time violently ripping the brush through her hair in the most controled manner she could manage at that moment.

"Just tell me Akuma, whats really going on with you. I need to know what it is we're doing."

Akuma stood placing the brush down with as much control as she could manage. "What I want to know Karl...Is what's going on with you?"

She strode over to him and regarded him for a few moments her arms crossed and her eyes again narrow with rage. "You never told me." She shook her head. "If I had known that you were taken I would have never even given you a second glance and now...Now when I look at you it hurts."

She turned away and went fishing through her drawers for a clean uniform. "You're the first...The first man I've ever kissed Karl..." She closed her eyes. "For many years I've pretended to be a lesbian so that men would leave me alone and I could accelerate with my work."

She pulled out the uniform and slipped into the bathroom to change, her voice rising so that he could still hear her. "It worked..For a time..then I was transfered here and you came into my life!" She lowered her eyes. "I thought that I would be safe in this fleet because you were there...I knew I could trust you right away and that's quite a feat if you ask me."

She came out dabbing her hair with a towel. "Uncle Rattler is the only family I have left...You know that...And you're the first person that I've ever allowed myself to fall in love with, open up to, and now I don't know if I could ever do anything like that again."

She glared at him. "So what's wrong with you Blades? What have you been feeling since that night at Orion hmm?"

With that she sat down beside him fixing him with an intent glare. "And you'd better make it good."

[/rp]

Hee hee! You just had to put me into a bathrobe didn't you mister Blades? And I'll stay in my room till ya call me.

Judging from that look directed to Gallion there appears to be no love lost between those two. Wold's thoughts turn back to Savage asd he relents a bit and begins dishing out detail.

“That’s it? That’s all the detail you are going into?” Wold asks, barely keeping the bite out of his voice.

quote:

“As I said, you will be briefed on the exact specifics nearer to the mission time. You got a taster of whats to come, and that’s your lot. In truth, there are still some details that need to be ironed out. Certain things that our operatives on the surface are trying to determine at this very moment. There is a high likelihood that things will not go as planned, which means you will have to act on your own inititive to get the job done.”

This last statement leaves Wold a bit stunned. Not because of what wasn't said, but because of what was said.

Details to be ironed out? And surface things to still be determined?? Things are likely to NOT go as planned. No kidding. You got to HAVE a plan before that can happen.

How can a mission be planned w/out no friggin' details? What hardware's going to be needed? Oh, yea, just hop over to the local SpaceMart and grab your pre-packaged battle hardware kit. Guaranteed to have everything you need including body bags with a form letter (postage not included) for your loved ones. Rattler must have been in his den too long to get involved with this Yahoo on a "mission" like this! The caustic sarcasim in Wold's mind was enough to melt deck plates if it had leaked out.

Turning his head he notices Gallion and his shadow leaving and makes a spontaneous decision to catch up with them.

As Wold gets within 2 meters behind them York suddenly whips around stepping in front of him. Gallion, deep in thought didn't notice anything for several seconds.

Yorks sudden defensive action prompts a fleeting thought I wonder where Mel is... Maybe I should put her on my payroll.

"Ah, look, I'm friendly. Was just going to get a quick bite and wanted to know if you and Gallion would join me?"

Gallion, turning around noticed that Wold was holding a folded hard-copy as if a written invitation was being given. [/rp]

Station Security, Galactic Command Headquarters

Earth, Sol

The Chief of GALCOM Hq Station Security was stomped. He still had no leads in regard to the explosions that had rocked through the station, resulting in two confirmed deaths, thirteen wounded, and one prisoner MIA. Then there was the timely disappearance of the GCV Graf Spee. Coincidence and happenstance or were the three incidences woven together in a complex web rooted in conspiracy? The tabloids were having a field day with these incidents, much to his chagrin and at his expense. The Hq brass were starting to turn the screws on him too, they wanted answers, yesterday. The brass did not understand the investigative phrase, We’re checking several promising leads. They want results, nothing more, nothing less.

The door to the Chief’s office suddenly opened with his aide running in, “Quick sir! You’ve gotta listen to this!” His aid activated the ‘vid viewer and tuned into the GNN channel ...

GNN Headline News

We interrupt regularly scheduled program to bring you this GNN Headline Report

[ - Camera pans from opening placard to GNN anchor Connie – ]

Terror and mayhem hit close to home today.

[ - GNN ‘vid viewer queue changes from Connie to a TacOps viewer PoV zoomed to the S.S. Vulture, just minutes before its destruction. -]

[ - The view zooms out from the Vulture and centers on a Megeron Class Carrier, the UCV Leo. It appears that the UCV Leo launches several missiles at the S.S. Vulture,

[ - The TacOps PoV zooms out some, showing the flight path of the missiles launched by the Leo towards the Vulture. - ]

[ - The TacOps PoV zooms in towards the Vulture. It appears that the missiles reach the Vulture milliseconds before the Vulture explodes - ]

[ - GNN ‘vid viewer changes back to the GNN anchor desk and Connie ... -]

We received this holovid from a Ter/Jou vessel that just happened to be passing through the [bLEEEEEEEEP] system where this event occurred. We now turn to Brett Mushberger at Galactic Command Headquarters for a live update on this incident and the explosions that rocked through the station several days ago. Brett ...

Thank You Connie. We have not been able to get any updates on the explosions that rocked through the GALCOM Hq several days ago or any information in regard to the destruction of the transport, S.S. Vulture, from my sources or from any GALCOM Officials. We keep getting the standard, “We do not comment on ongoing active investigations,” or the blatant, “No comment,” from any we contact.

As a matter of fact Connie, GHq cannot confirm or deny the validity of the holovid we had just seen. It seems that all contact with the Terran/Journalist source of this holovid has been lost. What is scary Connie is how close to home this and previous events occurred. Galactic Command seems no closer to finding the cause of these seeming separate incidents today then they were when they first happened. Frankly Connie, it looks like a cover-up to me ...

[ - GNN ‘vid viewer is cut-off - ]

“Is this being recorded?” The Chief asked his aide.

“Aye Sir,” was the aide’s reply.

“Good, let me know when it is finished,” The Chief stated, “I think that we have just got our first break in this case.”

The aide said nothing as he snapped to attention, saluted, departed the Chief’s office, and closed the door.

The Chief sat back in his chair, rocking ever so slightly as he used over his thoughts of the GNN vid he had seen. That ‘vid had been doctored, he thought, now to prove it. There’s something fishy going on here and I’m going to find it ...

The gaggle with Blades and Rattler was somewhat productive in Gallion’s opinion. The escaped prisoner felt that Blades was getting a handle on the situation and would reveal more at the next motley fools gathering. Or so he hoped. As York and Gallion departed from the bridge, Gallion reached into his pocket and pulled out the note York had slipped him earlier. There was nothing spectacular about the note, just the nature in which it was delivered.

quote:

We have matters to discuss Corsair at your convenience. Your know how to find me but do not take to long.

- Wold

Why would Wold slip a note to York? Damn these cans of worms!

“Ok York,” Gallion said to his shadow after reading the invitation, “since you started this ... lead on McDuff.”

York smiled and said, “Aye Sir! Follow me,” and lead the way to Wold’s billet.

Gallion did not want to know how York knew where Wold’s billet was located when they reached it. The old marine rapped on the door three times, refusing to use the conveniently located doorbell button. The door opened with Wold waiting inside.

“I knew you would come,” Wold said as the he closed the door. Gallion turned to where York would customarily be and noticed that his shadow had not entered Wold’s billet when he did. He managed to catch a glimpse York taking up a guard position to one side of the hatchway before Wold had completely closed the door.

“Make yourself comfortable Gallion,” Wold began and gestured towards the chair near Gallion, “we have important matters to discuss.”

A sadistic, mischievous, and malicious grin/smirk appeared on Gallion’s face as he settled into the chair, “Its your dime Wold, don’t waste it.”

Deck Three

"Do I know you?" the Fleet Commander interrogated. Jet simply grinned at the man, he had control of the situation now and he wasn't about to reveal anything he didn't need to.

"I'm just a figment of your imagination," Jet replied and pointed his wrist laser at Savage, "Now remove your wrist laser and sidearm."

Savage did this cautiously and then Jet motioned with the gun to move and said, "Quickly."

They jogged down the hallway with the Fleet Commander in the lead. Turning into another hallway which jetted off from the first they continued down it until they reached a small panel in the wall.

With his wrist laser still pointing at Savage, Jet removed the panel to reveal a bunch of large cables. Tucked in underneath of the cables was his sidearm and rifle. He placed the sidearm in it's proper position and as he grabbed the rifle the Fleet Commander suddenly dropped to the floor and tripped the android with a well placed leg sweep.

As Jet fell toward the floor he almost smacked himself in the head for allowing himself to be tripped by a human. There was a loud thud as Thompson slammed into the floor. Savage made a quick run for the nearest door and Thompson sat up and fired three times at the Fleet Commander before he disappeared behind a door.

Jumping to his feet and went to the door and wasn't to surprised to discover it was locked. He scanned the area to check on the status of the Security team, they had just got past the first door and were heading to the one Thompson had blown open.

His fingers moving quicker than a human eye could follow he began to try every number combination he could before the security reached him. Luckily, they seemed to be moving cautiously, and there was currently only three of them.

The door finally slid open just as the security spotted him from the end of the corridor. As they began running toward him he slid in through the door and locked it behind him.

The android found himself in a large room occupied by the ship's Nuclear Reactor, there was plenty of hiding spots in here. It was a smart choice by Savage because the Reactor was disrupting Jet's sensors and he couldn't fire an energy weapon nearby a Nuclear anything.

As the door behind Thompson began to slide open, since the Marines could easily get the access code, Jet leapt up to the high ceiling. Grabbing a hold of a steel beam he pulled his body flat against the ceiling, all of this happened before the door completely opened. The Marines came in quickly, yet cautiously, each watching the others back, it never occured to them to look up.

"No weapons unless you have a definite shot, it's too dangerous around this reactor," one of the marines ordered the other two. Then with a quick hand signal one went left, one right and one straight.

Jet let go to the steel beam with perfect timing, the one that had gone straight was now unlucky enough to have a heavy android fall unto his back. The marine only managed to grunt before going unconscious. The other two had managed to hear this and they appeared on both sides of Jet.

"Freeze!" the one on the right yelled.

Jet placed his hands on his head and the marines slowly closed in. When they were both within arms reach Thompson jumped several feet into the air and kicked on both sides, knocking the men's weapons away from them.

The one on the right tried to grab him with a big bear hug, after all these marines were big guys and Jet looked scrawny. Thompson easily tossed the guy off of him and the other one kicked at Jet's chest. His human instincts told him to dodge the kick but his intelligence told him to stand still and let the marine hurt his foot, which is exactly what Thompson did.

The first marine was back up and charge at the android's back. Jet decided to get fancy and performed a frontward flip, kicking the man behind him as he was upside down and then kicking the other one when he came back around. Doing several backward cartwheels for effect he motioned to the two marines to come at him.

One of them tried to make for their gun so Thompson ran at him and drop kicked him into a wall. The other one had snuck up behind him and kicked him in the head, stumbling forward Jet turned and punched the approaching marine in the chest, sending him flying back 6 feet. All the marines were unconscious now.

"That was fun Fleet Commander, do you want to test your skills too!" Thompson called out mockingly.

To the androids surprise there was a reply, "Sure, I'm up for a challenge." Savage came out of the shadows holding one of the marines rifles, he fired, Jet dodged left but Savage had anticipated this and allready fired again. This second shot sent Thompson flying back into the wall, as he impacted the wall dented outward and Jet then fell face first into the floor.

Thompson rolled onto his side and kicked himself into the air and landed on his feet. Another shot from Savage caused yet another dent in the wall.

"Want to try for three?" Savage asked mockingly.

Thompson would have tried for three but the second shot had fried a bundle of wires leading to his legs and now he couldn't move them and he knew he couldn't draw faster than Savage could fire.

"Not bad," Jet said to Savage as the second Security team surged into the room.

Anyway, I'll post on the morrow.

Bridge

Caine stepped out of the lift into a virtually empty bridge. There was a security officer looking over a panel as he spoke over a comm. He was directing a security team to deck three. He looked up to see Caine as he walked over.

"What are you doing here?" The man was big, and looked to be unhappy.

"Just came to see blades. Or whoever it is running this op. I have an offer to make."

"Well, you're too late, they're all either in bed, or eating." He didn't bother mentioning the intruder alert. "Now I'm kinda busy. Why don't you try to find them in the galley?"

Fustrated, Caine didn't even bother with a response as he turned back to the lift. "Deck" came the impersonal voice, oblivious to everything but what's inside. "Whichever one has the galley."

The lift began moving, but stopped only a few seconds later. When the doors opened, he saw the once blinded merc he helped to the medibay. It was obvious he wasn't any more, but he seemed a little...nervous.

He was about to turn around, when Caine said hello.

"How's the eye? Got 'em fixed I presume."

The man paused, and gave him a quizzical look. *Of course, he was blind. He couldn't exactly see what he looked like before.*

"I'm the one that helped you to the med bay."

Recognition dawned on the other man, and he quickly stepped into the lift.

As they rode, the other man gave a different deck.

"How's the link with the outside coming?"

[/rp]

This could get Caine in hot water... Being caught with an intruder.

Turbolift

Zeke looked at Commander Caine quizically, he didn't receognize the face but the voice was starting to jar something loose.

"I'm the one that helped you to the med bay," Caine informed him and Zeke soon remembered the merc. He stepped into the turbolift.

"How's the link outside coming?"

Zeke looked up, searching for a camera. Finding one behind a panel he decided this was not the place to discuss matters.

"They wouldn't let me use the comms system, so I'll have to get you that cheap Radine some other time," Zeke attempted a cover story for Caine's words, the camera was most likely visual only anyway. The turbolift doors opened and the two of them headed down to the galley.

They each ordered drinks and sat at the back, there were some people in there allready, but they were busy with their own lives to notice the two mercs.

"Here's the good word. I have a man in engineering trying to hack into this ships main computer as we speak. I told him that I would meet up with him just as soon as I found you. I need to send a message to my ship too, I probably need to get out of here real soon."

[/RP]

Not sure if warning klaxxons would go off from that explosion I set off on deck 3 or not. I said they did, but nobody else seems to be hearing them so if you like I will delete that part.

Anywho, back to you Mr. Caine.

Nimitz had just gotten a good conversation started up when what sounded like a explosion down the hall followed shortly by klaxons.

What a realistic drill...

Suddenly the marines stood up

One of them said, "That isn't any drill. Let's go see.

As they came closer some shots could be heard. They watched a security team enter engineering....

Guest Quarters Cabin 12

He'd always loved the beach in San Fransisco. And today he was in his favorite spot, feet in the sand, watching the sunset with the Golden Gate in the foreground. With him was what he still felt was the most beautiful person the galaxy had ever created. It was his good fortune to have found and married this wonderful woman. To be able to stand here and hold her hand as the sun went down.

Through the Golden Gate the oranges were turning into blood red, playing off the clouds overhead in interesting shades of dark blue. Above them, stars began to twinkle in the sky.

It was one thing about them that Somerset loved. They could merely stand somewhere in perfect silence. Nothing needed to be said. The whole conversation required no words at all.

When the sun had finally dropped below the surface of the sea, she turned to face him. He looked at her, deep into her sea blue eyes, and held her head in his hands as he pulled her near and kissed her.

And as they kissed, he heard a sound that didn't belong on the beach.

The sound of General Quarters.

He awoke with a start. The atonal sound blasted his ears like sledgehammers, as he remembered where he was.

"Oh, bloody hell. My bleeding head..." he said as his voice reverberated through his ears. He went over to the kit that he had carefully packed in the suits cargo space back on the Vulture. He'd be damned if he left his things on that godforsaken ship.

From the kit he withdrew something he knew he put in there for a reason, though he needed it only rarely. An alcosal inhaler. Guarenteed to remove any vestige of intoxication with one quick burst. He hated it, but at GQ it became a necessity.

He opened it, and put it to his mouth. Exhaling slowly he closed his eyes, winced, and pressed down.

His head exploded in fire, and he fought to regain his internal balance for a moment. When he reopened his eyes, the haze in his brain was gone, though his head still throbbed. Not as badly, but it still throbbed.

He returned quickly to reality as he heard the atonal sound again. He returned the alcosal to his kit, reached over to the table and grabbed his pistol. The same pistol he had "borrowed" from a dead Gamm warrior. He checked the charge, and ran out the hatch to face whatever it was that threatened them this time.

What more could happen to mess this mission up, he kneweth not.

Gallion, me thinks the [/rp] in your post was 1 paragraph too late.

[rp]

“Its your dime Wold, don’t waste it.”

I wonder if this is just a quick 'commander capability test' or just posturing....hummm

A slow, lazy smile crosses Wold's face as he starts in. "IMO, Gallion, whatever 'dime' that is spent elimiating, enhancing, or providing options is never wasted, and that is what I have in mind: Options."

After several seconds of silence, the mischievious malicious grin that Gallion was sporting changes to a slightly more serious grin and Gallion gestures for Wold to continue.

"Savage's ending statements disturb me. IF he has a 'plan' it is going to be so full of holes you could put a Gammulan Super Carrier battle group through it undetected. Frankly, I want to accomplish this mission and get out alive.

"Why should I care and what does this have to do with me?" Gallion responds with impatience begining to creep into his voice.

Leaning back and grinning maschieviously with a twinkle in his eye, "Plenty, I should think. You see, York mentioned that you have a slight, er, difficulty with Galcom."

Raising his hand, "Please, Gallion, let me finish first. York didn't go into details as we didn't have time and he figured to leave that up to you. However, I do know enough to know that I can help you, the degree would vary depending on what you want done. Perceived 'truth' can be a powerful tool or weapon."

Wold reaches behind his chair and pull out a black plastic item roughly the size of a 20th century laptop. "This doesn't exist. It may look common and definately ugly, but it isn't. You see, I was once a 'guest' of Earthcom's banned medi..."

Wolds voice turns low and rough as unbidden horrific memories attempt to rush in. His voice chopping off as an internal fight ensues to keep the split personalities in check. Body shudders heavily as his face gets a haunted, hollow look while mummbling to himself 'NO, not yet... your time will come to be loosed you must wait!'

Gallion, having seen a lot in his years of service, feels an involentary shiver run up his spine.

Closing his eyes and shaking his head as if to clear the cobwebs, Wold makes a very visible effort to get control back, coughs, and continues, "medical experiments. They were rather unpleseant. In the process of excaping I aquired a unige tool, this 'toy' if you will. "

"I don't have time for in-depth details at this time, but I will say this. Standard security issues, you know ship systems, peronnel records, military police records, etc, are a cake-walk for this box.. Most security systems, 3 strikes and an alarm goes off. With this box, I'm in by the second try."

"Problem with Earthcom, they don't use standard security. They want to scan live body parts for admittence to any thing. You, Gallion, being a Galcom officer, are in their systems. Working as a team....course 'if' Galcom is looking for you we'll just have to leave them a false path...freedom of movement will become far less restrictive and escape options more abundant. "

Wold finishes off, "BTW, just so you know, the box is genetically coded for my use only, dead body parts won't work." [/rp]

Your turn Gallion.

Ping-pong anyone?

"Captian we have lost all of our Radine crystals in the fire. Power will be gone in 1 minute."

"Smith do we have any means of getting off tis ship? Shuttles? Interceptors? The Transporter?"

"No captain all gone"

Captain Maddox's conversation with Lt. Smith was fresh in his mind. Ever since we hit that LRT-15 our ship's systems have slowly been failing and for once I have no control over the situation.Maddox thought.

"Smith get in here"

"Yes, sir?"

Explosions in background

"Smith find out what that was!"

"Yessir"

Just what I need I bet that was life support. Great.Maddox sourly thought. He was in the midst of reviewing options when Smith returned.

"Dead sir."

"Who?"

"All of them. What happened is Reactor coolant leaked into life support, but since the vent to this room collapsed none got in here. I activated exhaust. We need to get off this ship. Fast!"

"I know that Smith. We have only one choice left. I want you to get to the power allocation and put all power into communications. Then I want you to send this signal...."

"There now I am emitting a new SOS signal."

New SOS signal: This is Commander MAddox of the HarksRader requesting immediate assistance. I have no power and am stuck on a ship with an idiot who has managed to burn himself, break a console, eject the reactor, drain most of our power. and finds it funny. HELP ME PLEASE!!

"Any word?"

"Not yet Jo, we're scanning any channel we can think of, and a few other possabilities as well, but there is no signal from Caine yet."

A small icon appears on Huber's consol.

"I think I've got something. Naw, it's just a news broadcast. Says there's a special report though."

Jo was getting tired, she hadn't slept in ten hours, and most of that time has been spent grinding her teeth.

"I don't really care Huber."

Dejected, he recorded the GNN newscast, and saved it to his personal bank. He'd watch it later. Just as that completed, a second icon appeared, flashing red on the screen.
