Reply to Chavik,

I served in the Finnish Coast(al) Artillery (when I was in active duty, it was part of the army, but now it is part of the Navy smile.gif ), on a nice little Island about 5 km off Helsinki. My special training is a medic, and I am part of the rapid deployment reserves (I sure would like to see how rapid my deployment will be from here (US) smile.gif).

I served as a pioneer in brigade of Savo in Mikkeli (little town in Finland, middle of nowhere!)BOOM BANG! I think I lost part of hearing in those days. That's why I think I'm such a great musician, 'cause I can't hear a thing I'm playing! biggrin.gif

I've never been in the military, and don't plan on joining. Not that I don't appreciate what you guys do, you do a very fine job indeed, I'm just not cut out for it myself.

Heh, just goes to show you that you don't have to be old *cough* ( smile.gif) to be in a command position smile.gif

Well, Chav, I plan on going into the Air Force. Don't know what I'm gonna do just yet, but it WILL require AF Tech School training to do it smile.gif

45 years.

Those who read this forum and have not confessed their age, please do so, and then let's rework the numbers for average age.

You want I should close it maybe Blades? Then it would drift farther and farther down as the new discussions pop up and maybe not be so noticeable. Say the word.

Guest Commander Hamblin

Ok, after much thought over the subject, I've decided to come out and tell my age.

*Ahem*

I'm uh...well, I was born on December 22nd, 1957. That makes me a ripe old age of 42! But, I like to say that I'm actually 43. Why? Because I'm still a child at heart who wants to be older...as you can tell, I have a mental age of a person a quarter my age. smile.gif

I feel bad that we keep flooding your e-mail, Blades, especially on a relatively old post that's undergone a small rebirth of interest.

So no one moans at you, but to keep this interesting topic open, I'll start a new post, summarizing the info to time/date.

To all commanders who have yet to 'fess up to the number of years they've walked this sphere, don't answer here, but go to the new post AGE OLD QUESTION PART DEUCE and sign in, please. This will save Blades some e-mail grief.
