Supreme Cmdr
The move to the brand spanking new Vserver host server was pretty uneventful. Jim and I have been configuring the site for the past 2 days and I just finished putting in the finishing touches. All looks fine. If anyone notices anything weird, let me know. One thing you will notice is that the primary DNS address is now 3000ad.com instead of bc3000ad.com

Thomas Siemens
Kewl! New site works fine from me. Two (little?) questions: 1st - can we have pics in our signatures (you disabled that in the UBB settings, OTOH can those be "faked" by editing the post right after sending it)?2nd - as I visit this forum very often, I wondered if the "show last entry first" feature could be activated, thus we would see the new messages first and would not need to scroll to the back of each thread.Regards.Thomas (a.k.a. Ben Zwycky
One problem so far. I can't view all the smilies from posts made before the move, since they're linked to bc3000ad.com instead of 3000ad.com, which I can't access.Other than that, pretty smooth (if a little slow) Let the posting floodgates reopen! ------------------ Cmdr. Supreme Cmdr
InterNic have resolved the DNS for bc3000ad.com, so all that should be sorted out now.And no, am not reversing the order of the posts again. Did that once and I barely escaped a righteous lynching. The site will be a little slow until Vservers fix their T3 problem.
Parias
Hah hah yea.. check my thread a ways down, "Woa, whassup with the forums?" for details on that..Nice to see the page back up, I nearly had a heart attack when it died and didn't come up again the next day.... of course, my hopeless gaming addiction quickly put aside any fears I had, at least for a few hours ------------------ Cmdr. Supreme Cmdr
Thanks Mano, I fixed those links earlier today when I did a scan on the page.hehe, I got so many emails about the site being down, you'd think I had died or something. What an amazing community this is. You guys are the best. www.bc3000ad.com has already resolved and just points to 3000ad.com now.The new host has a bunch of new toys: IRC, MajorDomo, PostOffice, Finger, mySQL, PHp etc. Now that we have mySQL, am gonna look for volunteers to setup the new fleet and roster databases. Anyone up to the challenge? No newbies please. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 05-03-2000).]

My coding skills are caput, but I'm a data modeler and JAD facilitator. I can certainly help in the relational data modeling for the new database. What tools would be necessary for the new roster database? What is mySQL (I'm in an Oracle shop)? I'd volunteer to work with developers to design a good, normalized database. Guest
Well chief, I ain't volunteering for anything, but take a look at the system this game uses to manage their squads.. its really awesome, and in my opinion, would be a blessing for any fleet to have http://jumpgate.netdevil.com/terminal_civilian.html Go to NEWS/STATISTIC -> SQUAD CENTER and check out their squad creator. Since you can't get in, you can check the squads that are already there... any player can get in there and do a mini-page like that inside the website in less than 10 minutes. Allows players to add/remove players from the squad, assign ranks and put up to 3 paragraphs. Quite cool for Fleet Management. Quite cool eh? Blades
Could it be just me, or is anybody else not getting email notification to replies to their topics? While Im at it, Im useless when it comes to rememberin passwords. As such, whenever I lose my system for one reason or another, I generally re-request my password so I can post to the forum. I've re-requested email notification of my password three times now, and still got nothing. Ok, so I found a password backup so I can post (Im good like that) but I thought it was worth mentioning *Just In Case*.Is it just me?------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country'
