And so it begins again, the annual flood of games just in time for Christmas. Today I picked up my copies of Civilization 3 and Myth 3. And I'm STILL PLAYING ULTIMA 9!!!

Ahhhhh!!!! Too many choices. So much fun to be had and so little time! To make matters worse, AvP2 should be showing up any day now and BCM is still slated for this week! Ack!

Post back what you think of Myth 3 please ! I agree too many good games coming out(alot of the ones I want are coming out on Nov. 13 & 15th). If only I had the money or time. Besides BCM what I would like to pick up is: EtherLords(awesome game, I got in the beta,it's a cross of HoMM and Magic the Gathering), Gothic(from what I've read about it it might be better then Morrowind), Wizardry 8(being released through EB just like BCM), & Battle Realms.

Not to mention that I would like to pick up an X-Box with Halo, DoA3, & Morrowind this holiday season. And EGO(Peter Molyneux's RPG) whenever it comes out.

Next Year Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights, WarCraft 3, & whatever they name Sigma to.

And then whenever it comes out(I think it's vapor ware):Team Fortress 2.

But until the time comes when I have money again (and even after) I will be playing BCM and enjoying ever minute of it !

I played about three missions out of Myth 3 and it looks promising... gave me Myth/Myth2 flashbacks. The difference is that the graphics are MUCH better. Unfortunately, running from memory, you wont realize it until you put the two side by side - and it hits you like a ton of bricks, hehehe.

Anyhoo, at about 4:00pm I decided to give Civ 3 an hour of my time as well (Gotta try them both), then get on with homework. About ten minutes ago I realized that it was 11 O clock. D'oh!

There's another $iLk?

Nope it's SiLk, he doesn't have the PiMp tight holla holla dolla dolla sign like me

Wow...

Anyhoo I picked up CivIII yesterday and played it for about... 8 hours and lost. Note to self: Don't carry on a war for 3 millenia - it hurts your economy...

It sucked cause I was playing as the Germans, and damn Aztecs declared war because I didn't give them 300 gold and I laughed until the damn horses came running through my newly developed road system and took half my cities.

America was mad because I got a right of passage agreement and used it to position my troops next to their cities and launch a nice attack.

Lincoln never got over it...

The editors pretty cool, I've started trying to add new government types and am looking into adding new units and such and removing others.

I know what you mean, and have already started a list for my wife to get me.

We were at Sam's Club on Saturday, and my wife had to have MS Zoo Tycoon. Needless to say, her PC crashed a day before, so she couldn't play until Monday night.

I will probably get her the next Sims expansion pack for Christmas.

The most notable title on my want list is the Half Life Platinum Pack which has 4 games in one. Now I am no big FPS fan, but I want this one.

Ofcourse I have a big need for hardware to, but that is not something I trust my wife with, as I am extremely particular with brand/model#.

Ok.. now WHY in the world would you say this? GR is not out in stores yet, have you played it and know something I don't? I played OPF and it is good and all, but it didn't just grab me like Rogue Spear / R6.

I've have Rainbow 6 and Rogue Spear, liked them so that is why I am getting Ghost Recon. From the screenshots of GR, I'd say it looks better than OPF, plus GR models modern day weapons. Kind of like comparing a WW2 flight sim to a modern day flight sim.

Other than the lack of multiplyer for Civ 3 (of which I don't really care) is it any good?

What are major improvements that are discernable?

What has been added or taken away from the game?

Does the AI cheat or does it play by the rules of the game?

Do you like it? Please elaborate.

I'm looking forward to purchasing it, but would like you to hear your comments first before I put my money down.

I like Civ III, they took out most of the government types, but included an editor where you can make your own.

I remade Facism, National Socialism, Religious Fanatisism, Islamic Fundamentalism, etc. and added them into mine as choices.

They took out wonder movies, but added in some Ceasar type stuff where your people build on to your palace - kind of like in call to power.

The game lasts longer. It is extremely difficult to carry on a war. I captured 3 cities using tons of men over 3000 years. You have to try and get ahead in advancement because 1 man in a city is worth 4 attacking it. Unless you are a superior unit.

The veteran and elite status of units is overexaggerated, and those damn aztecs build too many horses and kill me with them.

Anything else you wanna know?

Yeah, I believe they took those classes out because of the terrorist attacks. Bastards. They also removed an ability to plant diseases in enemy cities as a spy measure. Damn them!

(IMO, I think the entertainment industry is getting a little carried away with their self-censorship)

O:FP is a cold war simulator, it's based on the 80's, not ww2!! In terms of gameplay and graphics, I can't wait for both the O:FP add-on, and Ghost Recon............mmmmmmmm night combat....drrrrreeeeeeewwwwllllllllllll

If you want in deapth info, with reasons for the changes in the game check out www.civ3.com . They did not take out those govs because of Sept 11. They are for balance i believe.

Although i have not bought the game i think i know $ilk's problem, you should use an armies vs those cities you wanted to take. You also need to have a high culture level and a good trade network to win the game.

Here are some things they have added in Civ3:

-Every unit needs a resource to be built(some need more than one), the city building that unit must be connect to a city with that resource to build that unit.

-There are now wonders every country can build. They also kept the major wonders.

-Each Civ has its own unique unit that is a improved version of a standard one. Americans have the F15 and Germans the Panzer.

-Each race has leader they can build(i am not sure whether you build it or you get automaticly). The leaders have many benifits.

-Culture is a new thing added to the game. You get from city improvements, wonders, and other things. It affects borders, happiness, diplomacy and more. Check the web site for more information.

Here is some info from the civ3 site:

-More interactions, alliances and realistic artificial intelligence responses put players in the middle of negotiations, trade systems and diplomatic actions. Advanced trade system to manage resources, trade routes and spread of technology.

-Improved combat options provide finer levels of control for enhanced war-making capabilities.

-Technologies, Wonders Of The World and Great People expand the scope of the game.

-New elements of Culture, Nationality and the Arts help players plan a new peaceful pathway to victory.

-Active world generator creates more realistic maps and organic terrain features.

-The most detailed and beautiful art, animations and sound ever found in the genre.

-Easier-to-use interface for streamlined management and better control.

I am going to get this game if I have any free time after BCM.
