About Patching…

It is highly recommended that you read the Version Control File for your game before applying any patch. Also check the patch discussions forum for additional information, especially if you have the digital distribution (e.g. Direct2Drive, Digital Rivier etc) version of the game.

Applying an incorrect patch (e.g. applying a boxed retail patch to your digital download game version) version can invalidate your DRM (Digital Rights Management a.k.a. Copy Protection) license and in most cases will require that you uninstall and re-install the game from scratch.

Try to use the game’s “Check For Updates” shortcut if at all possible and if the patch server is online. All our games since Universal Combat Gold use this patch server but you must add the updater.exe program file (located in the folder where the game is installed) to your firewall exceptions list or the program will be unable to connect to the Internet. Using the game updater, the patch file is downloaded, automatically copied into the game install folder and executed.

If you end up with a patch update that you are not satisfied with, you can simply install the previous patch (the downloaded file should be in your game’s install folder) without having to un-install and re-install the game.

Starting with Universal Combat - A World Apart, all patches are cumulative. This means that you only need the latest patch to bring your game up to date. No need to download multiple previous patches.

WARNING: There was a DRM issue with the previous DVD-ROM version of the 1.00.05 patch. If you previously downloaded it and are having a problem with the program starting, just re-download it from our link below and re-apply. No need to uninstall the game.

 
Universal Combat Special Edition

WARNING: All previous versions used Starforce copy protection and different key. Unless you have the Direct2Drive or Gamers Gate versions, do NOT download this patch or your DRM license will be invalidated. Stick with the previous v1.00.03.01 patch instead until we roll out the new DRM for the other (e.g. Digital River) versions.
