  1. There has been a demo of it released here for anyone interested. I'm downloading it now.

    -Sho

playing the demo, how do you jump through the gate after the battle in the beginning? the tutorial is greyed out, won't let me choose it to play, starts the game with a cut scene and goes on.

  2. I know I know, you're going to say why post, since I haven't checked it out.

But I won't because I don't like fighter games since the wing commander days, WC/freespace etc, stuff I enjoyed as a kid. I rather be the commander in charge of the crew...and walk the halls of my grand ship and say yo to them from time to time.

So chain yourself to your desk! GALCOM ONLINE!

  3. Check it out

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/07/20/astro-logical-starport-gemini/

I have not tried it yet, but might buy it when I get some funds. I been living pay check to pay check recently :)

Looks very solid and very interesting. It is released, thats the only thing I can find on it from last year. I saw it on a news post on bluesnews about the release in March.

A lot of people are pirating the game but then finding that cannot play because it crashes alot and filing bug reports at the developers site which has delayed some patches.

Additionally the word around the web is that its buggy so avoid it. lol. on torrent sites you see comments about it being buggy.........glad the devs can stop people pirating it, but I hope it gets the commercial success it deserves.

  4. If i buy http://www.direct2drive.com/5229/product/B...dition-Download at d2d then use this update http://www.gamershell.com/download_45220.shtml , I will have UCCE 2.0? Just want to make sure before i buy it on D2D. I'd rather buy UCCE original, then upgrade to 2.0, than buy 2.0 and realize my computer can't handle it, or i want to make a mod. Thanks in advance.

    Yes, that upgrade will work.

Ok thanks gonna buy it pretty soon, just wanted to make sure. Been wanting to play a good space game again and this game is really good.

anywhere else to download the 2.0 upgrade? there's no link anymore at gamershell to download it. I have the d2d version.

  5. STO is going to die within the year and go bankrupt. It's a crappy MMO.

Luckily i didnt pay for it :)

sto will not die in a year do not be rediculous.

sto is already in profit. it had a 15m production budget. times that by 500k-1m in sales. its already made back more than it cost to make.

then theres going to be at least a couple hundred k subs for a few months.

even if it falls off it'll have at least 100k dedicated fan boys. and it was designed to be sustainted by a population of 50k. (all this info from an interview with the owner)

star trek was designed to be an innovation or a good game, it was designed to be released, and to make money fast and shelve it. too bad paramount for the second time in a row gave it to an incompetent developer. who thinks cryptic is capable of doing something beyond the scope of COH or champions especially using the same damn engine.

sto at its peak had 60 people working on it. and a dev time of just about under 2 years.

and cryptic is developing 3 mmos at the time , champions, sto and another one to go beta later this year.

its shallow simple and lacks any depth. you cant even fly anywhere in space. only in shoe boxes they provide.

  6. while it isn;t exactly 'fair' to review a games beta. In 6 days time STO launches and the game design cannot change and enough can be seen of it to see the flaws behind it.

    I digress...

    http://www.yougamers.com/previews/27017_st...ine_first_look/

an unprofessional article which has all valid points (doesn't miss much) on why STO is pretty terrible.

unprofessional because the writer gets too personal.

but I forgive him, if someone took my beloved franchise and shit on it like cryptic id be mad too...

and shit on my franchise they did.

cryptic developed champions sto and an unnamed MMO all at the same time. I hope they go bankrupt and just die for this.

  7. The last I saw of it was in the pilot to SGU when brain boy is figuring out the code in the "Atlantis" city.

sorry to be bearer of bad news but stargate worlds has had money problems for over a year.

its on indefinite hold and likely wont see the light of day, hate it when this happens to a game, all that art, code, and work down the drain before anyone gets a chance to play it.

    like gods and heroes...

anyway the plan is now to make some 3rd person shooter........... you can google about sgw and go to the main site, you'll find the info there.

  8. We moved on to the MMO project. It is the last game that we do. More information in my next blog update.

k i look forward to it, as a side note, since you may or may not cover this in your blog, (maybe you will now )

are you continuining with the previous development from before or starting from scratch?

  9. if precursors is out then i am mistaken. but their official site is stuck in time. at least the english one, i wouldnt know what is going on with the russian one.

I am *let down* by star trek online. ill still play it i guess, but i wonder how long for...

my idea for st online would have been let the player choose what race he wants to be, and then go from there.

from there they can choose to enlist in one of several factions, klingon/romulan/federation.

so for example lets say at level 20 you decide to go to starfleet academy get some training some new skills etc and eventually commission of a small ship to command. and same thing for the klingon or romulan ones.

anyone who didnt want to have a starship or be a captain wouldnt have to be. there forcing players into a specific way to play startrek, that works fine for a standalone game like starfleet command or elite force, but it doesnt work for an MMO.

content could easily be there for people to do the captain/command thing and for people who didnt want any of that type of gameplay.

theres a whole big world to star trek other than that is seen on the screen. I thought that as a developer and what most developers like is creativity, freshness, life, something different, but by making the type of star trek game that they are making they are not making anything that has not been done before or seen before on the screen.

we've had space combat st games before and we've had ground combat ones, only difference here is both are linked. and poorly so. through load screens. you can almost modify bridge commander to do the exact same thing. few loading screens then change your environment your in and viola you have 'traveled far'

I want to see the slums of the star trek universe, the unlawful parts, the frontier, the fringes, the places hardly seen in the show, the gamma quadrant. theres a place for content for whats seen on the show, but to me the best challenge for the devs would have been what we do not see or have not seen, but i guess they chose the easy route.

well for all my wishing its theirs to do with as they please and its just another lost lot of potential for greatness. but i wish it could have been created sandbox style with a market of 500k niche players in mind.

hopefully their exploration content which we probably wont get to experience until beta and launch, because thats not really something you can show off. hopefully it will have something good. but right now the PVE content which is being shown off, the engage in space combat, beam down engage in ground combat, beam back to your ship end of episode content is not sending enthusiasm through me, will it be fun? yeah maybe, but it wont be great and it'll get old. fast.

you dont have a choice of what to do in a mission your being scripted to get off your ship when they want you off of it and on the planet.

    anyway welllllll...........

tl:dr I could write a book on why the current sto is fine financially but in terms of what it could have been its garbage.

im sad to hear about knightblade, really looked forward to it.

what is on the horizon since aoa and aaw are finished and shipped.

GCO? or your last best single player space game?

  10. Hey Derek can you update your OP or something with latest info?

also these are the games on my radar.

wondering if anyone else is following.

    black prophecy

precursors (no news recently probably vaporware, sucks this happening to games EVEN before they get a chance to be played, all that work)

star trek online (curious on peoples opinion now that we know so much about at least 50% of the game) closed beta signups have started too.

jumpgate (personally dont thibk ill play it, i require more depth than twitch based combat or just pvp or just blowing stuff up, jg sounds like a planetside type mmo, nothing else to it)

blackstar (still way out there, I hate fantasy but at least its a fantasy/sifi hybrid)

galcom online (nothing known) is there even a finalized design of this game?

knightblade ( nothing known except the premise, is it still on par for 2010? like the main site says?)

  11. I have no clue what you're talking about.

The PSU should either have a 6-pin PCIe cable built in or it should have a standard Molex to 6-Pin PCIe connector. Either way, the idea is to power the card from the PSU. So if your PSU only has a Molex connector, you are going to need two of either one. Then you're going to need two Molex to 6-Pin PCIe connectors and connect one into each 6-Pin connector on the video card.

When in doubt, contact your PSU manual.

And if you don't know if your slots are PCIe 2.0 or not, consult the manual for your computer or motherboard. Seriously, READ the manuals!!!

been a while since i been inside it, last time was because it wouldnt boot. i did a bios reset, by taking out the battery and it fixed it, seriously what the hell can go wrong like that that you have to reset bios? rhetorical

ok ok about the manual, dont remember it being that detailed though :santasliegh:

nvidia nforce 590 sli mcp thats my mobo, and from checking online, it was a high end gamer mobo released in 2006, supports core 2 extreme and am2 chips.
