According to the FAQ that came with the game, the developers stated that it does use realistic physics. As far as I know so far, it's only fighter to fighter combat, but you can see the capital ships, etc. There is a thread over at Gone Gold that talks a bit about gameplay.

Been playing this for a few days now. Graphics are pretty cool, but the handling of the Starfury takes a lot of getting used to. All in all...good job here.

If anyone is look for a copy of Harpoon 2, I just put my copy up on Ebay. It's pretty much in mint condition and comes on 3.5" HD diskettes.
