  1. Congratulation!!! May all go well for you both! And may you have more kids then me!!! ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  2. You are all welcome! All those lights are towns/cities. Having traveled the state of Alaska I can pretty much name each light. Some of those towns that show up are SMALL... Most don't have any pavement... even the runways are dirt. Then I see that map and wonder about China and Africa. No wonder they call it the "out-back" in Australia... In Russia, see that trail of lights running East to West? That's their railroad system.

  4. Foss.... you are running out of time! I can stall a bit more..... [RP] 04:00 hrs, 19th May, 3008 SS Vulture Sickbay/Medibay Thinking over his options about what to do with this upstart insurgent suddenly dumped in his balliwick, Commander Foss decideds to rest on it before making any final decisions. Humming to himself, Foss taps a few commands into a nearby console. "Ensign?" "Yes, Commander Foss?" "Wold seems to have a phobia w/ clinics. I want him moved to room 14g, deck 1 as soon as you finish setting that broken arm." With that, Foss heads out of sickbay to contemplate his choices before making an irreversible plung. 05:30 hrs, 19th May, 3008 SS Vulture Rm 14g, deck 1 The room is medium sized, roughly 5 meters square. Entering the room, it has a private head in the back left corner straight across from the entrance. On the left wall the food dispenser while on the front wall is the closet, stopping 1 meter from the door. Wold was on a bed stuffed in the back right corner, restraining straps removed. Next to him another cot had been placed for the mercenary guard. Both are asleep, though Wold, judging from the thrashing, seems to be having drug induced dreams. 11:11 hrs, 19th May, 3008 Having had her rest the merc steps into the head. WHAT THE H** NOW!?!?! as the red alert warning screeches through the room. Jerking the bathroom door open she sees that a gammulan had transported directly into the room. "It" had leaped to the side of her comotos charge and had a wicked serrated blade raised in the left hand ready to sever Wold's head from his body. Not having time to aim, the merc snaps her disrupter up and slams the firing stud home while issuing a fervent, silent prayer that Wold doesn't suddenly awaken and sit up. The gammulan had no warning or time to react as it's chest suddenly explodes out the front of the combat armor. The impact from the shot bounces the dead gammulan across Wold's bed before it slides off to the floor leaving a trail of yellow blood. ...the grass...it's...weird..why is it a flourescent pink? It seems to...move..like it's waving...beconing...a path...where to? Should..NO...can't follow... its waving more vigerous...What's happening? Pulled..dragged...down the path...NO NO NO..begging, NOT THE canyon... can't... The ground, rocks, moving..earthquake? What's that shreeeek? IT WON'T QUIT...my ears.. I see a door...clawing, scratching, PRYING...YES " Wold's eyes pop open as a heavy weight on his chest slides off. A warm, oozing feeling of flowing liquid soaks through his clothing. Bewildered, he turns his head and sees a somehow familiar looking woman in combat clothing w/ smoking rifle standing w/ a rather empish grin on her face. "Well, it seems that I underestimated my bid to Commander Savage. In case you don't remember me from way back, my name is Melody, but I go by Mel. Tell you what. You sit or lay, as the case may be, tight and I'll go check things out. I'll be right back! Oh, here's a stunner incase someone desides to 'hello' while I'm gone." Wold nodded a response as his mind was still trying to figure out who she was, where he was, and why he was there. She turns and disappeared out the door. Fourty minutes later Mel pops back into the room carring a duffle bag. After taking a change of clothes out, she stuffs it into the closet then she walks over to Wold's side. "Here, take these and go get cleaned up. In the meantime I'll shove this gammulan out an airlock. BTW, the mercenary complement seems to be severly reduced and that the other commanders are now armed. I, ah, tracked down your confiscated items for you and they are now in the closet. Commander Foss is supposed to be back any time now." Though awake, Wold's mind is still sluggish. Taking the clothing he heads to the bathroom to get cleaned up. 5. CPU Core voltage is too low. It should be 2.2V to 2.25V. I wouldn't go too much higher then that. Course I'm assuming that your CPU data at top is correct.... there is an AMD K6-2e and the Vcore for that chip is 1.9V Temp is fine. Get the voltage bumped up to the correct level then see what happens. Don't know the specifics on that board so can't tell you how to adjust the voltage. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Wold (edited 02-23-2001).]
  6. How good are you w/ a volt-meter Epsilon 5? or do you know someone who is? 1. Verify that you don't have any voltage between neutral and ground in your house wiring. 2. Does your pc have monitoring software for voltages and temps? If it does, check it. 3. strart disconnecting devices until it, hopefully, runs stable. You may have 1 component that is acting up. I've also seen reset switches get stuck half-way in the case. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Wold (edited 02-22-2001).]
  7. 1. Ignore the 'IRQ holders ACPI blah blah'. There isn't anything you can do about those. You have 2 devices sharing IRQ 5. It shouldn't be a problem, but that may depend on what, if any, USB devices you have installed. 2. Do you have any free IRQs? If not, disable COM2 and/or COM1 and set those IRQs to PCI/Plug and Play in CMOS. Hopefully your modem will grab a free IRQ. 3. Check your modem install instructions. Some modems REQUIRE the software drivers to be installed FIRST before the card is installed into the computer. [RP] quote:but why the Wraith ships were shooting on the Graf Spee AT THE FIRST TIME? Rumor Control

[RP] MEMO to Commander Savage: It has come to my attention that some mis-information has been passed around. Consider the following before making hasty decisions in providing resources to Wraith fleet. I fear that I am wasting my time, but being the gentalman that I am, I felt it my duty to inform you of the following: quote:The Rules of Engagement are clear against Insurgency targets, and this applies to one of our own as well. Terminate with extreme prejudice and quote:a well respected member of the Wraith Fleet who had disgraced hiself in the field of battle The datachips from the GCV Graf Spee have been removed by Spectre starstation engineers. The battle to which you refer and the actions of the commander in question are there recorded. This data has been cross-checked w/ several mercenaries and traders in the area at time of battle. This disgrace that you refer to was nothing more then self-defense. Following their ROE, several of wraith fleets ships fired on the GCV Graf Spee, who was in charge of the battle line. The commander then ORDERED these ships to cease fire, THRICE! His orders were ignored! As such, he had no choice, and he terminated his attackers. As he was the survivor, the blame was given to him. I ask you, would you tolerate anyone of your command, say even Epsilon 5, firing on YOUR ship?!? If you wish to place your command on the line for such as Wraith, the Insurgency will oblige[/rp] Hi Blades! ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Wold (edited 02-20-2001).]
  11. [RP] quote:The Rules of Engagement are clear against Insurgency targets, and this applies to one of our own as well. Terminate with extreme prejudice WOW, I'm sure that the officer in question had numerous reasons for joining the Insurgency. The main reason must have been that he could no longer conduct actions that were contrary to his character. However, with a ROE that specifies terminating your own w/ extreme prejudice... Maybe Wraith fleet needs just that much more practice.... [/rp] ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  12. [rp] Dear Sir: The bubble gum order that you requested for your CE has been stalled. The shippment was stolen by an unidentified Galcom commander in Midea and thus had to be reordered. I have directed the station engineer to come up with a suitable substitute. I understand that she is now embeding the bubblegum "flavor" into a substance. Eta for REAL bubble gum is 2 weeks pending no further interuptions. Substitute gum should be ready in 2.4 hrs. Thankyou for your understanding: Commodore Wold [/rp] ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Wold (edited 02-20-2001).]
  13. quote:Now, there is an easier way, if you're sure there is no virues, etc. I seem to remember that you can simply edit your registry by deleting the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEEnum branch and rebooting. Win98 should take you through the process of reinstalling all your systems devices... be sure to backup your registry before trying this (user.dat & system.dat Thy memory is correct Akira! BTW, IF you can, copy the whole win98 cd to the hard drive, as well as any other drivers, 'cause you won't have access to the cdrom when windows goes to reload the drivers. First thing you'll see is windows trying to find your video card... Hit Next/OK and hang on! ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  14. Happy Birthday, though it's almost over now! Update ICQ?!?!?!? You can do that?? ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  15. Brother, seems like a rash of computer weirdness going around... Here is my 2 cents worth... (In otherwords, try the following) Looks like you have your internal modem and your USB on the same IRQ. According to the PCI standard, IRQs are supposed to be sharable. For testing, pull that 56K modem, delete the driver (from safe mode) then boot to win98. Most people don't have anything connected to com1 and com2. If they aren't being used, DISABLE them in CMOS. (located under I/O or Peripherals, usually) This will free up 2 IRQ's. Boot to windows then delete them or mark them "Disable in this hardware profile" WARNING: Look for a CMOS option "Plug and PLay OS? Yes/No" Set it to NO. Reason: If set to YES, then Windows has control of your CMOS. On some systems the YES is hard-coded. Then the only option is to load the driver, open device manager, look at the properties of the offending device and mark the box "Disable in this hardware profile", then REBOOT. After you have 1 or both of those com ports disabled, reinstall that 56k modem. Hopefully it will grab IRQ 3 or 4 and your problem will go away. Finally, if that doesn't work, you can also try moving the cards around. Most systems assign 4 IRQs to the PCI slots. PCI slot 1 (next to the AGP port) typically shares an IRQ w/ the AGP port. Hope that works for you... ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  16. quote:I've even switched the IDE cable (used a new one I keep as a spare), even put both cd's into another computer (they both worked). Uh oh. What's your other idea? (the one that doesn't involve the KABOOM) Thankyou for the offer Jaguar, but right now I have my fingers in too many pots and I think my biscuits are begining to burn. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  17. WOW! What a surprise! I enjoy watching car races from time to time and Dale had been around for years! He wasn't my favorite driver either, but he was good and more importantly, he had good character/class. He will be missed by a lot of people! I see so many nasty wrecks during those races when the driver walks away it is easy, as a fan anyway, to forget how dangerous those wrecks really are. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand" [This message has been edited by Wold (edited 02-18-2001).]

  20. I've been running a DVD and CD burner on the same secondary cable and have never had win9x mess up like that. Make a win 98 boot floppy. Boot off that floppy and enable CD rom support. You may want to F8 and step through the boot process and make sure that the CD rom drivers are loading. From dos see if you can copy files from Both CD ROMs to your hard drive. If you can't copy files from either CD rom under dos then your motherboard IDE secondary controller may be bad OR 1 of your CD roms is bad. Discconnect the Slave drive and try the primary... if that doesn't work, make the slave drive the master and make your current master the slave. Reconnect just the master and see if it works. IF you get a drive to work under dos then reboot to windows and see if it is working. IF windows still wont run the drives correctly there is a step to reload ALL device drivers w/out reloading windows. It involves the registry so if you, or someone else wants that info say so and I'll post the steps.
  21. quote:There are 4 things on IRQ 5...) which are Um, which 4 things are on irq 5? And, Are you using your built-in com ports? IRQ 14 & 15 are OK. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  22. Epsilon 5, as I don't know your windows knowledge, I'm not going to assume you know something, though you probably already know how to access Device Manager.... At the desktop, right-click on My Computer Left-click on Properties Left-click on Device Manager Make sure that the button next to "View devices by type" is selected Double-left click "Computer" icon in list In the window that opens up make sure that the top left button is selected "Interupt Request (IRQ)" You now have a list of your IRQ assignments Ignore the IRQ PCI Steering or any ACPI IRQ Holder lines Any IRQ numbers NOT listed are available UNLESS it is marked as a Legacy ISA in your CMOS settings. Standard (not lock in stone) IRQ settings are: IRQ 3 Com 2 4 Com 1 5 Legacy Sound card OR network controller 6 Floppy disk controller 7 LPT1 (parallel printer port) 8 System CMOS and Real Time Clock 9 Whatever 10 Whatever 11 Video, if require by video 12 Mouse 13 numeric processor 14 Primary IDE controller 15 Secondary IDE controller Try the folloing IRQ settings: Open up your CMOS Set IRQ's 14 & 15 to PCI/ISA PNP Set IRQ 5 to legacy ISA, if you need sound for BC3K. You can then re-enable your legacy sound in windows. You will also need to change the DMA to legacy. Soundblaster pro default is DMA-1 and DMA-5. Don't know about ESS.... IF you have any dupelicate (dupe for short) IRQs you can DISABLE the on-board Com 1 and/ or Com 2 ports in cmos (assuming you aren't using them) and change the corresponding IRQ to PCI/ISA pnp. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  23. I got my copy from a guy at work. He would preorder games before their release and get them at a discount. So he order BC3K and waited...and waited...and waited.... Then got the first release, 1.0! He couldn't figure any of it out so he gave it to me to see if I could. I got it running, but couldn't get some of the stuff to work. So came here and saw some rather large patches. Did the DL & patch thing, played some...and waited for more patches. Was somewhere (OH or CA) on diebold atm/alarm training and saw the 2.0 version. Picked it up and well, here I am. BTW, I still have both cd's. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  24. Epsilon 5, FYI. I don't know if you are aware of this, and I'm not trying to insult you. Aramike is one of the admins of this board. He doesn't, nor does anyone else for that matter, like to see people banned. Personal attacks are not tolerated on the board and Aramike doesn't want you to unknowingly cross that line. He noticed that you were not making use of the RP markers and wanted to make sure that you understood them. Without the RP markers comments tend to get taken personally. That leads to flame wars. There are plenty of boards out there that allow flame wars. This is SC's board and he wants a clean board. With BCM and other projects he is running, SC has tasked Aramike and other admins to address things and to make sure the board runs smoothly. Anyway, on to other things.... quote: From Blades: Wold, one day Im going to beat you to death LOL, Blades, that's one of the things I like about you, your sense of humor! If you're really serious I bet I could have some crumpets and tea waiting for you when you get here. Just catch a British Airways flight, hop over the North Pole, land in Anchorage. Give me a ring (as in phone call, number is in the Anchorage area phone book) and I'll come pick you up. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
  25. Heh, those are a headache to find. Isn't that an all-in one board--main video and sound built into the motherboard? If the unit is still under warranty and depending on easy they are to work w/ I'ld take it back and ask them about the PSU show them what's going on. Just about anything in the box could be causing your symptoms. Me? 1. Make sure I have the current drivers for all devices. 2. I would boot to safe mode, open device manager and look for dupe drivers or unnecessary drivers that are loaded. If there are dupes+ I delete them all, w/ a few exceptions like PCI steering. When Win reboots, it will reload the drivers. 3. Search the web for sites that have info on that specific motherboard or the 530 chipsets. May find the answer there. 4. Physically remove the Monster 3D (pci card, correct?), and the software for it then run things. ------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre Fleet ICQ 4669033 "You can only love or hate something you truly understand"
