    Problems

Uber, yes my frontend screen is black as well, flashing the window border with nothing to click on. Here how I got around it: Move your mouse pointer around the lower right quarter of your screen and if yours does what mine does when you pass over where the buttons are supposed to be, they will come up as blue spots. There's only 3 buttons... start game, options, and exit. The top one starts game, bottom one is options, and the little one to the right of the top one exits. Once you get past this screen, everything runs fine.
  2. Nope, still can't dock mission 1.
  3. Yes when i dock with the station in the first mission, the game simply exits and leaves me on the desktop. Havn't tried the one in the second mission yet.
  4. Ben, I'd like to tell you I read a few of the last entries in the round robin story, ending with your engine room disaster scene, and your style is good. It read like one of the better star trek episodes, but much better grounding technically. (I noticed in your profile afterward you liked star trek) Am I right in assuming that you're mixing the storytelling of trek with a little Honor Harrington for realism? It's a great combo. Felt like I was right in the middle of a decent novel. Not too technical, but not so vague that you feel like you're on blind faith either. Good work. Everyone else - You're all doin a great job, I just noticed a style I particularly liked and wanted to comment. [This message has been edited by Advil (edited 03-15-2001).]
  5. Amazing how many kindred minds are on the internet. I like you guys more and more all the time. Yes, welfare is destructive. There are better ways to handle people in need, other than the almighty (god?) government. But do you know why electing Bush was so hard to do? Because inherently people DO NOT want to work. It's human nature for most people to want a free ride. Tell me, if you were living on the system and getting it pretty easy why would you want to think too hard about the alternatives? You are going to vote for the side that continues the free lunch. The sad truth is that those of us who PAY for the others will probably be a MINORITY of the voting population in another eight years if something doesn't change. I think the solution is simple. If you are on any government welfare, you don't get to vote. Period. That way there's no political bribery of votes. Call me inhumane if you want, it's FAIR. I'm making jack for a living, but I'm doing my damndest to make myself and this country work. I don't want a handout, and I want to help those who are down... not encourage them to be down like the system does now. (You may now open fire on me... be warned however I follow my second ammendment rights and may return fire)
  6. Well, there it is. Congrats Derek! Now all we need is the demo. (hint hint)
  7. Heh, and I thought I was going to be the first one to respond too.
  8. Sending a 320 bitrate MP3 to your email.
  9. Yes on a serious note, you should ALWAYS have a disaster pack with you. I recommend a backpack. Have you ever stopped and really thought about this simple possibility: What if you had to walk home 20 miles after an 8-9 earthquake? No cars, no supplies but what's in your trunk. You can't do it in 1 day through a city folks, so plan on spending a night outside. Think about what you'd absolutely need, and how to make it light enough to carry, assuming NO ONE is going to help you. My bag is always ready. One afternoon is all it takes to gets yours ready.
  10. Potential fan here as well, anxiously awaiting the demo. Somehow I missed the whole first BC3000 thing, not sure how considering my addiction to elite/privateer back in the day. And now there's no way I can run BC3K due to its age and my system config. I keep thinking about throwing together some old parts with a voodoo2 just to see what the original was like.
