I've been meaning to pick it up when I get the spare cash... maybe next week. I loved the first game and from what you say it sounds like this ones definately an improvement. I think I'll check around about those graphic glitchs before I buy, though... may be worth waiting until they patch it. quote: AND at the end of each mission you get a rating on how well you did. highest is "stealth assassin" lowest is "mass murderer". That seems rather backwards in my opinion. I'm more fond of mass murder than stealthy assassinations... nothing beats playing with the minigun in the final Columbian mission of the original, afterall

quote: I have never been hit with a missile while my EMD was active no matter how many were fired at me Nor have I, but I couldn't help but notice this in the original post... quote: Shooting down anything is easy, be it a super carrier or a small fighter, just as soon as their in my scope, let of loads of missiles and BANG, their dead. I predict loads of MP trouble in somebody's future. BTW, O' Lady of the Giant Mythical Reptiles, check your PMs when you have a chance. [ 10-06-2002, 03:30 AM: Message edited by: Litvyak ]

This whole two party thing is lame, I dont really agree with the Democrats or the Republicans Ok, so any party that I agreed with wouldnt even be remotely mainstream so it doesnt make any difference anyway, oh wellTrue, the Republicans are the lesser of two evils. I've yet to see any political canidates that I really support, even the fringe ones. It's really discouraging to know with the screw ball politcians out there there's none as sick and twisted as myself. Then again, most people probably consider that a good thing. quote: Originally posted by Jaguar: You're right, it was rigged, dead people voting for Al Gore Hmmm... dead people... I was wondering who would vote for Al Gore. quote: Originally posted by $ilk: You have to do something to deter those who would fly planes into buildings. You mean taking away thier frequent flyer miles isn't enough? quote: Did anyone notice the lull in suicide bombings when Israel started demolishing the homes of people who's family members attacked Israel?I'm not sure how that would work in preventing attacks. It would seem to me that the terrorists of the caliber we faced on September 11 were more than willing to give up thier lives. I can't picture them hesitating because we threaten to demolish a few homes of their relatives. Really, I think the only feasable solution is a complete no holds barred military campaign in Iraq and other terrorist supporting countries with the goal of removing terrorist friendly governments and rounding up or eliminating suspected terrorists (preferably the latter option).

Oh well, might as well get around to signing up. You can count me in

quote: Normally I don't post on politic topics but IMO that whole thing about the Florida ballots was so rigged. I mean c'mon Gore was clearly the winner if it weren't for Bush's bro Jeb the governor pulling the strings so that he would win. Well, that might be so, but then again nobody ever said that government corruption never did anything good. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Bush is the greatest president that ever lived, but I think a return to having the Republicans in the White House was timely considering the events that have transpired during his term in office.

quote: Just out of curiosity, do you think Al Gore's popularity would've soared as much as Bush's? I'm still shocked that people even voted for Gore to begin with.

quote: Man those are serious bugs! I wouldn't have released a demo with that kind of problems! Nevertheless, I'm downloading it. Hopefully I won't have much trouble. I wouldn't worry, from what I can tell the known bugs sound worse than they are. There is definately sound, just not all sound effects and to be honest I have no idea what effects are missing. All keyboard shortcuts I tried seem to work as avertised in the help file. You should have Directx 8.1 already (BCM uses it along with countless other games), and if not I believe it gives you the option to install it. None of the last three I tried, so I just take thier word that they are bugs.

Well, I've only played one mission so far which turned out rather unfavorably but I have to admit the game looks good and is fun to play... definately worth the download for anybody who has the connection speed... it's 166 mb. It does have some bugs and some unfinished portions... here's the list from the readme... Known bugs: - All sounds are not present - Keyboard shortcut commands are not all functionnal - Game is unstable with DirectX 8.0 or less - Level design is not completely finetuned - Modify your screen resolution during the game may cause a crash and a return under Windows Desktop - GameSpy Mutliplayer is not functionnal yet - Multiplayer game with 4 players causes crash when using different Operating System

Well, it certainly looks worth checking out, so I'm downloading it now. Will post my thoughts once it's done and I get a chance to check it out.

quote:The Bush-Franks solution demands an equal reaction - more homeland terrorism - this time possibly big-time!Oh... so this guy thinks 9-11 was some minor inconvience? I don't think question is really one of whether we should attack Iraq or not, but rather one of trying to decide on the best use of Saddam's remains... maybe the Bush administration could make authentic Saddam hide wallets to hand out to visiting dignitaries to the white house. Just imagine how much revenue can be generated by auctioning something like that off on Ebay.

quote: You forgot the situation when someone appears to your jump target AFTER you initiated jump procedure. Nothing wrong with that... will be important in multiplayer. It's the downfalls of taking a slow powerful ship, since enemy ships can reach your target and set up ambush before you get there even if they jumped after you. It's a major tactical component to the game even in single player (I do it all the time).

I can't help but think of my friend who wanted to be a nun but who got kicked out of the convent for practicing wicca and running around naked on the roof. She wrote the whole experiance down, and it's one of the funniest memoirs I've read. I have to see if I can get a copy from her sometime.

I find the Raven quite easy to kill... no more difficult than any other fighter. Granted I find most cap ships to be the easiest of all to kill, except for the heavy cruisers with 8-12 turrets, but even those are easier than fighters.

Wow... been flying the lights for a little while now and the Lightstar and Zodiac have to be my new ships of choice. They may not be as fast or armored as the supers, but nothing beats those superfast hyper times. The Starmonk has even better stats... but it's just too ugly for my tastes... after all when MP comes out I can't be flying fighters that I'd be embarassed to be seen in

Another use for the very versitile baby skin... condoms. Nothing like using babies to prevent babies. It's more natural than latex, and probably offers a better feel than sheep skin. It's also good for that couple that screws up once, and has a baby... they can have that child recycled into safe effective birth control to prevent further incidents. quote: Then again I like being naked. wonder if I could be naked in a stuffy old church? I don't know, I'd be afraid to be naked in a church, especially a catholic one. Then again, I'm over age 12, so maybe my fears are unfounded...

quote: Wiccans? I have to admit, I like them better then Christians. Still don't believe in thier religion, but there's something to be said for people who worship nekkid in the woods. Much more appealing than some stuffy old church.

quote:As for what I would do come recycling time, why IÔÇÖd be lounging around in the Caribbean sipping imported blood wine and eating leg of baby while extolling the virtues of a society in which the young slavishly worshiped the old and discussing the best way to preserve my body after I die.Yes, figuring out what product line you want to be a part of... nobody said recycling won't come with tough choices we have to make.
-
quote:It's easy to talk like this now but what about when it's your turn to be recycled? Well, really, we all have to go some time. Wouldn't you want to know that your life served some kind of purpose when you go? Would you want to simply be stuck in a hole in the ground and forgotton about, or would you rather contribute usefully to society? I don't mind if somebody makes me into a coat or a wallet when I'm dead, or if I end up on somebody's grill during thier 4th of July barbaque. I mean I'll be dead anyways, so it's not like I'll care if I become somebody's thanks giving dinner. [ 10-02-2002, 12:34 PM: Message edited by: Litvyak ]
