  1. My biggest question right now is related directly to this. If I were to buy the boxed version of UC:CE which I'm guessing is what you meant by DVD-Rom, then it would come with the Sony's SecuRom correct? I don't have the internet at home at the moment so my question is, will I be able to play UC:CE Without internet connection? Can I call a number to activate it for example? <edit> found the answer to this queston in another thread. SC Himself stated that it only checks to make sure you have the DVD in your drive so No, I won't need the internet to do this. -jumps out an air lock for not searching harder for the answer to this before asking-
  2. Any chance we'll ever see this awsome Enstrom class carrier in UC:CE? : ) Man the graphics for Echo Squad are so intense looking. I imagine there is no way that would ever fly with UC:CE because there is so much more to it , it would probably destroy a computer to have graphics like that whilst also running all the stuff in the back ground
  3. I think WoW has proven itself to be the best MMORPG game of all time to day, judged only on sales and membership alone that is No one even come close to their numbers of enrollment ect and their sales numbers are insane. I played it for a while when it first came out and I havn't played an mmorpg since that gave me as much satisfaction (and believe me I've played a BILLION of them it seems) I sensed then that It was TOO addictive and cut myself off before I got to far into it. I think of WoW disappeared tomorrow many of you may not care but I feel like there would be a rash of law suites and suicides across the planet lol. I started playing mmorpgs when they consisted of text combat games called Muds, moved up to UO when it came out and went over to EQ and then back to UO. Tried other games as they came along but nothing really ever compared to UO in my mind (They got the most money out of me) then when UO fell to the @#$@#$@#@ at EA I had to leave. I've tried WoW, Eve, EQ2, Light and Dark , Dark Ages of Camelot or whatever, Minions of Mirth, Starwars Galaxies, Ragnarok Online, that Conan CRAP, Lineage 1 and 2 , City of Heros and Villians (Actually kind of like that one) Rubies of Eventide (I beta tested for this one WAY back when it was first coming out, worst game eva) jump gate, kinda of an mmorpg but not really I played Sword of the new world and just about EVER one of those Korean mmorpgs that are free that I could stomach, they're all the same thing more or less. The best game I've played since Wow has to be Eve. At least in my mind that is the only game out right now that could draw my attention to the degree which Wow has done and it allows you to advance your character while you're off line (more or less requires it to some extent) I imagine when GCO comes out I will be hooked on that as long as the servers are live even if I'm playing alone lol. I've come to the realization though that most MMORPGs hold nothing for me any more, they are just like the muds I used to play only drawn out over months of play time to get money out of you. We should look into making a free to play Mud for Battle cruiser where people can come and RPG as well as have combat between ships
  4. So did it work mate? Did you try it with all your virus scanning and anti-mal ware programs like Adaware turned off?
  5. I noticed that along with the nice poster you may or may not get if they're sold out of them or what not. I don't get how you can pay by Fax , it would be nice if they explained what their payment options mean I've never heard of Switch/solo lol. Any how back on topic is Knight Blade going to be more like Halo in FPS mode or more like Republic Commando where you're in command of a squad and have to work together (halo being a situation where you're a one man army capable of massive death tolls on your own) -edit- Well I just ordered UC-CE through mail. It gave me an order form I can print out and send to them, aparently with cash even (that sounds like a bad idea lol) I'm probably going to get a money order and send it that way -dances- can't wait to get this game in the mail lol. Wish me luck, hopefully they still have those awsome posters for my bedroom wall, I feel like I'm 16 again waiting for crap to come through the mail. I think the last time I ordered something like this was when I baught some lego pieces through the mail lol
  6. Journal Entry 4 - It has been several weeks since the last time I wrote in my journal. Things have been rather boring as of late. From what I hear our fighter pilots have been doing rather well with about six kills between them. That is all well and good but it doesn't really give me anything new to do. My patrols over the last several weeks have been varried and I even got watch over the detention hold for a few days even though it's empty. . . I write now because the ship has docked at Wraith station for upgrades. Aparently one of the GalCom ships we destroyed was transporting surface to orbit missles and we were able to recover a few. The commander now has enough money to upgrade the ship due to sale of these missles to Wraith station, and they're going to take a few days. With the ship in dock I am more or less on shore leave, though the station is just as boring as the ship. The rec room and library are almost exactly the same as the one on board so I've decided just to hang out at my bunk and get some rest whils I write here. Journal Entry 5 - Well we're planet side now, or so I hear. I'm back on full patrol duty since we left Wraith station and I felt a bit of a jolt as we made planet fall, made my stomach flip a few times I think. According to one of the recon force marines a military base has been under air raids from a near by Galcom base and requires our support. The command landed the ship right next to the base and now our PTA system is working as an extremly expensive anti-air system for the base. Patrols have been stepped up now that we are landed and we are to be prepared to depart the ship for combat at any moment. This is the most exciting thing that has happened so far, I just hope they choose me for the next away mission as I still have more kills than any other marine. Journal Entry 6 - Dear journal. I write this entry with a robotic arm. I got my wish a few days ago when my helmet buzzed with the orders to make my way to the shuttle bay. When I arrived there were four other marines there of various types. I was the only mobile infantry marine, it seemed, the rest were recon force and medics. I was told that it would be my job to drive a heavily armed APC into a combat zone on a misison to rescue a downed pilot named Lace or something like that. All I had to do was drive the team as close to the base as possible and the recon force marine would sneak in and spring the pilot. I don't know why they didn't just clone the guy but I wasn't about to question orders. I loaded directly into the APC driver seat along with the other marines and the downed pilots co-pilot flew the shuttle. The ride was bumpy and the pilot saw fit to deploy us about 10 feet above the ground whilst he was still in flight. The APC fell 10 feet to the ground without warning and jarred us all. The medical force marine checked everyone else for injuries as I kicked the APC into high gear. The controls were very simple, much to my surprise, and before long our team had arrived at the deploy zone. I could see in the distance through the thin viewing portals the enemies buildings in the distance. Everything went fine up until that point and the team deployed without being detected. The three recon force marines departed and left myself and the medical marine behind in the APC waiting for their arrival. It was night when they left and they were suposed to be back before the sun came up, so when the alarm at the base went off we could see the search lights flare on in the camp. In no time gunships and fighters were flying here and there scowering the land scape for us, and I knew it would only be a matter of time before they found us. Still, my orders were to stay there until the team returned or die. Sadly the team never made it back to the APC as a phantom gunship found us shortly after the alarm went off. The incoming missle set off so many alarms in our APC we didn't know what to do so we both jumped out the rear exit moments before the missle impacted. I supose command was watching the entire situation from the ship as second later I found myself in the transporter room along side the remains of my medic friend. Bad news is my arm was cut clean off by a flying piece of the APC's armor plate, the good news is the Recon force marines managed to make it out of there after all and radioed back to the CC that they weren't going to be able to make it to the APC. At that point the carrier went into orbit so they could beam everyone up, I guess they really do care about us eh? Oh well, the medical office on board fitted me with a powerful robotic arm and set me as off duty for the next few weeks while my body gets used to it. Obviously I can already write with it so I'm hoping they'll put me back on duty sooner than this.
  7. A duh! UC is free now why don't I just download that? anyone know if the UC Apendix suffers from the same issue? If not then just delete this thread. Geeze I'm stupid I guess what I'm getting at is that I'd like to be able to access that part or the entire appendix online without having to download the entire UC game since I've already got UC:AWA installed and I don't have any internet at home. I was able to find the UC manual online in a .pfd under the uc/downloads section with Yahoo (Though there is no link on 3000AD.com to reach it, strange. . . )
  8. Before I begin I would like to say I know this may be in the wrong forum but after looking through them I thought this would be my best bet because this is not a technical issue related to the game itself. Also let it be known that I am aware UC:AWA is not supported any longer AND that since I baught this game from Direct2Drive it may be their fault for the error I'm about to expand upon. Also I know I can go out and buy a new copy of UC:CE, and to be honest i'm trying to do that but no where in Kentucky/Indiana near Louisville that I've checked with thus far has it and I can't order it off the internet simple because I can only pay in cash SO with all that in mind, if this request is extra-ordinary then please feel free to move this post, delete this post, space me or whatever else you deem fit O forum Gods. Now onto my issue. I have braught this up in the past but the thread was no related to my issue so I didn't want to do any necromancy on it. In my appendix that comes along with the UC:AWA Direct2Drive version there are parts that are missing. The appendix here is kind of a html thing where you can click on diffrent links and it brings up different pages. So far I as I can tell the launch site appendix is missing, the ship upgrade sections is missing, and I believe there are other parts that are missing. Now I say they are missing but to be exact, these parts of the appendix use drop down boxes to narrow your search for you. Once you hit ok I guess it is suposed to list all the stations/upgrades ect that meet your filter. In my case no matter what I select it never shows a station or upgrade. With the upgrade section it only lets me choose Stormcarrier even if I choose cruiser or heavy carrier and hitting okay does nothing for example. Now I did pay for UC:AWA and I feel it isn't TO out of the question to ask if it is possible that I might be able to access this info some other way. Once again I know UC:AWA is no longer supported so if this request falls on deaf ears I understand, however if it isn't to much trouble to ask I would really be thankful if someone was able to provide me with the missing parts of my Appendix. It will help me avoid buying upgrades I can't use, going to stations I don't need to visist ,ect ect and save me a lot of time. I only have a few hours a week to play so time is very important to me at this point Even an appendix from BC 2.0 or BCM or something would be helpful because I'm sure the info I'm looking for hasn't changed all that much lol. If I'm barking up the wrong tree feel free to nuke this baby at your lesiure and don't take offense at me for asking this please.
  9. This secret thing is driving me nuts trying to figure out what it could be I just hope it is a success for you after the slow sales of ES. I think the fact that 3000AD is still around after all these years shows your staying power and ability to balance the books and make the hard choices that have to be made in order to keep the company alive. So many other major devs have gone under even with giant publishers backing them up but 3000AD is still around after all these years and all the unfair reviews and sniping. Still can't undertand why they have idiots review your games, it would be like having a red neck from the hills do a taste testing for caviar. At any rate I'm glad you're still around and can't wait to play knight blade. currently I'm trying to track down a copy of UC : CE locally so I can pay for it in cash I wants that box and I don't currently have a credit card or debit card to buy it offline lol.
  10. My suggestion is not to trust the status bar. Leave that bad boy running over night and see if it isn't installed when you wake up in the morning
  11. That is FANTASTIC News and so quickly too I pray that your new wife will be everything your children deserve in a mother and hope you many blessed years. Congrats on your new daughter My new born son is suddenly 7 months old and my first born is close to turning 2 so I know how exciting it can be. The first time she said " I love you too daddy" nearly broke my heart lol.
  12. Hey, just wanted to add my prayer to the list mate. You probably don't know me (I'm pretty sure I don't know you ) That doesn't mean anything though, I can still pray for you if I want to. It has been round 9/10 months since you updated us so I really hope things are going alright here. I've got two small children and a strange family myself so I can't even imagine what you must be going through with all this. I couldn't take it if someone took my children away and it would only add sting to it if it were my grand parents. My wife's mother threatened, before my daughter was even born, to call child protective services on us because our apparment at the time was a mess. With both of us were working full time and there were no children in the place, it was clean and sanitary it just had a lot of stuff piled up. At that point I wanted nothing to do with her but over time we've got back on good terms. She still makes remarks about how dirty it is every time she sees our house but from what my wife tells me we do a much better job of keeping things clean than she did when they were growing up I don't know what I would do if she suddenly took us to court and tried to steal our children away, I would probably have a break down. I admire the fact that you've handled yourself as well as you have and I pray that things go your way and your childrens way mate. Good luck!
  13. The Journal of Marine #13 Journal Entry 1 - I refuse to date these entries because it will only remind me of how long I've been doing this in the long run, and that is one of the things I don't want to remember. I decided to start keeping this journal because the medical officer told me it would help me with my stress issues. I'm not here because of any ideology I hold or any hatred I have against our enemies. I joined the crew of the ICV Death Wing because the pay is good and I thought I'd get to see the universe. Question, was I wrong? Answer, YES! The pay IS good this is true, but I don't get to see anything! They should tell you when they're recruiting you that, while your ship will be all over the galaxy, you won't be able to see it because most likely your ship doesn't have any windows where you'll be! This is only my third day on ship and already I'm starting to get bored. The first day here I reported to someone named Paul. He was supposed to be an officer but when I approached him on the deck he was staring at a blank vidscreen and I swear I think he was drooling a little bit. To get his attention I tapped my rifle lightly against his station, before I knew it I had a Scat pistol pointing at my skull and Paul had a wide eyed look of a rabbit about to get run over on his face. Once we'd sorted out who was who he gave me my orders, which consisted of a poorly drawn map of the ship using what appears to be tomato soup, highlighted with smashed peas to designate my patrol route. On my way out another officer downloaded an actual map of the ship into my personal computer complete with patrol orders for the next six months. After this I checked into my bunk where 19 other marines of various qualifications also live. At that time most of them were out on patrol or sleeping so I didn't want to bother any one. The crew quarters are cramped, very Spartan I believe they say back on Earth. I checked what little I had into my bunk, lucky number 13, and started my first patrol. For the first week of deployment I'm scheduled to patrol the lower decks, apparently all I have to do is walk and keep alert and my helmet will update waypoints for me, I don't even have to know where I am. . . . .boring. My first eight hour patrol ended without event, my helmet even pointed me to my own bed and told me to sleep, thanks mate I had NO idea that is what a bed was for . . . This isn't what I had in mind when I decided to join up. Journal Entry 2 - Today I got my first piece of action on board. As I was trudging along on the low mile a general intruder alert was sent out through-out the ship. The low mile is a tunnel that runs from the nose of our Megaron carrier all the way to the launch bays at the back. It is poorly lit and has no purpose other than a direct route from one end of the ship to the other, however in the past intruders have been known to hide down here so . . . At any rate the alert went out while I was in the middle of the mile, either way I went it would be half a mile until I had access to the rest of the ship so unless they beamed right into my corridor I wasn't going to see any action. My helmet told me to head towards the front of the ship so that is what I did, low and behold what do I find by two Earth Com soldiers running down the corridor in my direction. Get this now, they were lugging between them a entire replacement engine for a fighter craft!! I have no idea where they got it or why they wanted it, but they didn't see me in time. I opened fire with my issued rifle and managed to pick them both off in my first burst. I radioed back to command that I had down two intruders in the low mile, this was the first time they informed me that I was supposed to take them prisoner if at all possible . . . whoops hehehe. Journal Entry 3 - Well I'm the only MI marine on board with any kills now, and that has earned me a measure of respect among the other marines. They admired the fact that I take no prisoners, sadly the commander did not! I have been given a violtion on my record because I smoked those EarthCom idiots instead of taking them to the brig. Even worse the entire situation is under review because it turns out it is also against the rules to kill unarmed enemies in the first place, how did I know they were unarmed? Oh well it doesn't effect me all that much, my patrol route is the same and I've still earned a rep around here for being a real killer. These feats of man slaughtering has earned me the nick name Predator among the marines but I doubt it will stick. Just to update I have no idea where our ship is, as again I havn't seen a window since I got on board. I heard we managed to take over Wraith station, which I believe is in the Terran quadrant other than that I have no idea where it is. The worst thing that has happened since my last entry however, is when the ship cloaked. I was on patrol, once again in the low mile, when a general alert went out across the ship that we were about to enter combat and that the ship was going to cloak. Aparently the people that build these things havn't perfected this technology yet, and after a few minutes my RAD meter started ticking like crazy. We were only cloaked for about 5 minutes in total but it was enough time for an alert to sound in my helmet that I had been exposed to high levels of radiation, but did not require medical attention. I guess I'll have to stay away from the micowaves in the mess hall for a while eh? My friend #12 says I'm starting to glow in the dark . . . what a jerk.
  14. What happened to the photos of knight blade ? : ) Are they still there and I just can't see them or did they get yanked down?
  15. Well, from what I can gather Echosquad is going to be in episodes. He made it for gametap and they decided not to release it, why not I don't know considering they have a TON of crap on there and adding something to it couldn't possible hurt it any more than it already is hurting It would just give people something interesting to play. any how . . . Echosquad SE ( think it is called ) is like a sequel to a game that was never released and it already has a DLC as you know. Galcom Excalibur was suposed to be the Xbox 360 version so I'm guessing Talon Elite is just the new name for it. Before you ask Galcom Bravo Team is on ice at the moment (at least the last I read about it) as SC doesn't want to do FPS titles because their are a billion of them right now and GCO (Galatic Command Online) is still coming I believe. If you want to know more about all these read the dev logs , they are pretty interesting even though they've havn't really been updated in a while. Personally I can't wait for this game (Knight Blade) I hope they do it along the lines of Star Wars Republic Commando for the marine part, I thought that game was VERY well done. SC said he wants it to be like COD4 too , at least in so far as you switch between two people. I just can't wait until I get to see the inside of a battle cruiser finally ! My imagination is pretty good though so I hope it lives up to what I see in my mind already.
  16. Talen Elite is suposed to be the XBox 360 and maybe PS3 version of Equo Squad due to it will be so different from Equo Squad because of the controller ect ect.
  17. Just a new comment on this topic. I agree with the OP (and took his advice, going out of my way to get cargo pods) I found one with 3 surface to orbit missles in it and sold them all for about 21 Mil at wraith station It is crazy what you can find inside these things. Also I think I found those STO missles inside a journalist jentar remains, whats up with that? He was a gammy so I guess that makes sense, he was probably gonna make his own news
  18. Sounds interesting. I think that MI marine mission where you have to evade death with you and two buddies after being shot down would be a good mission to show off ground combat. It is really easy once you realize you don't have to see anything to kill it, just dial it up on your radar and poof ^_ ^ Also it ends when you getting a gun ship so that might work out for the pilot section since all vechiles work pretty much the same. Though a dedicated space/fighter combat tutorial might be useful as well. Flying a fighter has its own risks/rewards. For example a gun ship has no jammer, at least not that I've seen, while proper use of a jammer in a fighter can save your life 9 times out of 10. Also could do a trading tutorial and tac ops tutorial that shows you how to deploy shuttle craft and transport people down Power allocation tutorial. You could be doing these videos for a while lol. (sorry if I suggested anything you already did in your first tutorial, I havn't been able to watch it as youtube is blocked at work and I don't have any internets at home heh) -edit- I finally got to see it. First of all WOW the graphics in SE are so much better than in AWA, the still pictures just don't do it justice so thanks for showing me that first of all. Secondly very well done, I like the intro, shows just how much you can get into the game. Very well done all around, I can't wait to see the next installment; )
  19. This is a great idea. hopefully once people see this on Youtube and try the demo they'll get hooked on it and end up buying UC:CE Keep on going mate. You know what would be awsome, if you did the entire tutorial that comes with the game and put it up on youtube just so people can see what all you can do and how easy it is if you just try. Also it would be sweat just to put up a video of you exploring the galaxy in a shuttle craft or something, I know the first time I saw Jupiter in UC it took my breath away it was so beautiful. Same deal the first time I saw a CC land next to a base, the scale in the game would really play well on youtube. Make your own channel ect, I'm sure you've already thought of this I'm just bored and trying to give ya some ideas on how to be the next big YouTube star Alas I'm afriad to do that you'll have to slap someone in the face whilst playing UC to get any attention.
  20. Isn't that opening from Call of Duty 4 ? : P I would like to hear more from this story, sounds interesting.
  21. so with this in mind you're going to focus back on the PC? My dream is to see 3000AD and Stardock work together My two favorite indie devs/publishers ect.
  22. I can't watch it here at work, but you made this? This might bring about a new epic age of UC love if you can show people how to play on youtube and point them at the free download lol.
  23. Thats the picture I was talking about! I want to see a picture like that only with Battlecruiser ships : ) I would also LOVE to see photos of ship progression from BC300AD 1.0 up to UC:SE
  24. I know this thread is ancient but I'm bored and I wanted to put my opinion in here because I missed it the first time it came around : P I really love the Nightstar just because the way it looks. The design is so awsome , it really looks like a space carrier I love to get out of my ship and walk on it just because it seems like that is what it is made for. The crew/shuttles/fighters all meet my style, though to be honest I'm a horrible commander. Always have been always will be lol. I've been playing these games forever and I still suck , I guess that is my destiny but at least I have fun. I like Firestorm but I tried what people suggested and attacked a land base with it and got shot down in short order. The PTA system did take its toll on the enemy base and took out most of it defesnes but I was LITERALLY shot down. My giant fire storm crashed next to the enemy base and burned and burned but didn't explode I couldn't think of a way to get it out of there as EVERY computer was broken, I couldn't order repairs or anything like that. so finally I just jumped out and watch the ship burn from a distance, then tried to close in the base and finish it off myself didn't go well, all that smoke and fire blocked my view of the small army of enemy marines the base sent after me lol. - edit below this line - I've been playing heavily for the last week or so and I've actually finally gotten good at the game. It hasn't crashed on me at all which is something new, maybe I finally get the settings just in the sweet spot and the patches made AWA very stable I dunno. Any how I've been playing the Megaron due to posts here about how good it is. I have to say its shields are extremly powerful, I've upgraded them pretty high and I can sit there and go toe to toe with any ship and my shields regen almost as fast as the enemy can shoot me. I took Wraith station with it without any problem, the first time I've ever captured a space station since I started playing way back when O.o I really like the fighters that come with the Megaron. Several of them have taken a beating but none of them have been totally destroyed and the pilots are starting to wrack up some real combat kills. I believe the first pilot in the last has 8 now : ) I took the Megaron down to attack a land base and the PTA systems made short work of most of my enemies from kilometers away it seems. Was a bit of a tough job having something so huge so close to the ground to avoid lock ons but it was a great deal of fun. The PTA could fire so far away that I destroyed a near by city wtihout even knowing it because my PTA was wasting it the entire time I was fighting the first base lol. The shuttles on the Megaron offer a selection as it has two MK1 and two MK3 shutles so depending on your needs you can pick and choose what you need, same with fighters. I have one small problem where one of my drones has gone missing, it still shows up as being on the planet I left it on but the shuttle won't pick it up, it just says drone not found. Also can't seem to replace it since it still show active, not that big a deal since Mining is mostly a waste of time compared to trading or popping cargo ships for cargo pods ^_ ^ My favorite fighter is the Raven now, I just love the way that thing looks and it is the best all around super fighter as well. My experiences in the Night Star can't compare with the success I've had with my Megaron so it is my new favorite
