  1. Hehehehe We are currently stuck. We are almost out of fuel and we can't buy anymore becouse of the CTD Doh.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Download this data file and unzip the contents (with folders intact) into your game folder. It will ask you to overwrite two files. Do that.Is that file still there? I went to d/l it and there is nothing there. My friend (who I convinced to get in Battlecruiser after I got BCMG) just got UC, but came across the CTD when trying to access Tradecom as well. P.S. I am trying to put my order for UC through EB, but it is taking some time as they are checking up on my visa card since I am in Australia I can't wait (been playing it on my friends computer). 3. quote:Originally posted by LostInSpace: looking through the shelves I see another game that maybe I haven't heard about I don't pick that game up right away I go home with the name game and check all reviews I can find out about the game that caught my eye and if the reviews are good (they don't have to be great) I go back and pick up that game. I've done that with games like Urban Chaos, Outcast, X beyond the frontier. All three of these titles were bought by seeing them in the store first when I went to buy a popular game and checked out their reviews. Funny, thats how I got BCMG, I saw the box at EB, never heard of it before. Went home, read tons of reviews, went to this forum. Then desided to buy it.
  4. Just letting you know that I have cancled my pre-order in protest. I would perfer to buy a $40 game and get great support then to spend $20 and get no support. Besides I love BCMG so UC would of been just as great (I am new to the BC games until the last few months)
  5. I asked around at the local EB stores (Australia) about UC and if I can pre book one. They just looked at me blankly and said thay have never heard of it. Pfff So it looks like I will order it from Amazon. They have a release date of the 9th, I have seen a release date on this forum of the 7th so I think it is near correct. I just hope that they can ship games overseas (they can ship DVD... but can't ship hardware, never tried software before)
  6. Hehehe after playing the game, when I first hired it then FINALLY owning it hehehe (had a little trouble) I am loving the game. As a old Elite II Vet, I am glad to find a game that alows you to do anything. With Elite II the two choises were really Trade and combat. The same seems to be with with this game. I have seen other roles like Paramedic and Support pilot. From my Tribe and Tribe2 days I have always like the support role, helping/healing people and building defences ect. I am wondering how the paramedic/support pilot roles work. I have tried them but nothing happens.. but then again I don't know what to look for when playing those roles. I have also noticed that The CC can hold guests. Is ther a way to be a ferry and transport people from one place to another? The manual says only that you can get guest, not how to get them. Any back to playing the game. I am currently trying my hand at mining while trying to stop intruders from stealing my shuttles (lost one until finally worked out to turn off power to the launch bay. Don't know how to replace it yet hehehehehe) P.s. It is sad when you play a game like this while playing music from Elite (I and II) hehehe
  7. Yep I am d/l'ing it as I speak. While doing that I am just playing a normal combat role. I'm glad I have found this game (a Elite II vet).
  8. Wow I have never seen such service before.... Thanks for the great offer, but I have now got a working version. After the 4th cd I returned the whole game back to EB and got a refund. Then went to another EB and got the game there. It works like a charm. Been playing the game ever since getting home with it (3 hours) Been killed a few times but haveing fun hehehe
  9. 3rd CD... same result. I even took them to my work and put it in 4 PC's, all the same result. Looks like my local EB got a bad batch. I will get this game even if it kills me hehehe Well I hope to be flying getting shot down by the weekend
  10. Well tonight made my choices clear. Went to EB, they never heard of UC and don't have a release date. So I got BCMG. Got home and opened it up. For a start the manual is only has a 50 page manual?!?! one good thing though that is has detailed tutorials in it. and no keys reference card (it is on the last two pages of the manual) So I pop the CD in and it sounded like a lawn mower in the cd drive. It failes to install (error in install files) so I put it in my other drive, sounds the same and the same result to install. Traveld back to EB (30 min each way) got the CD swaped over. Arrived home..... same thing I even tried to copy the files over to the hd, but when I try to install it again is asks for the CD So tomorrow I'll get my money back and just have to wait until UC arrives....

I did have one untill a round little Hobbit nicked off with it, then went down a river with 7 of his mates quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: quote:So should I get BCMG or UC? For example will UC have the same complexity as BCMG? Or will they dumb it down a little. Will it also come out before Xmas in Oz?If you can afford it, you should get both, because BCM Gold is the last Battlecruiser game of its kind. UC is a whole new ball game in some aspects. Well it is late night shopping tonight so I will go to EB. But the games I buy must have replay value. I don't know if I will play BCMG once I get UC..... hmmm I will ask EB if they have a relase date to UC, I am not sucidle (spelling?) so I won't ask here hehehehehe And if it is not too long (with in 4 weeks) I will wait otherwise I will buy BCMG tonight.
  12. I heard of Battlecruiser for ages but never seen the series. But I was in EB last week and they had a lot of these BCMGÔÇÖs. Looking at the cover and reading the back I was impressed (I am a Elite/Frontier veteran) and LOVE open-ended games. But I have been burnt before on games claming the earth and deliverying something very poor. So I found a video store the hires PC games and they had this game. I was prepared for a steep learning curve but didnÔÇÖt expect a sheer cliff face hehehe. Anyway by the 3rd night (last night of the hire) to move around in a carrier and able to get into a shuttle. Great timing as I was traveling down to earth a large cruiser hyperspaced in and my first officer decided to attack it so my ship took off. Scrambling to get to the ship I finally caught up and docked while in the middle of the fire fight. 5 min passed while we trading blows while I was trying to read the manual to launch my fighters. I got all four out and defeated the cruiser (Woohoo). My fighters docked but the launch lays showed red for ages (1/2 an hour) while other enemy ships started to attack the sector. But I was very impressed in the detail in the game and want to buy it. But, checking the net I have seen a game called Universal Combat. Checking the release dates it shows that it is (hopefully this month). It looks to be a updated version of BCMG. So should I get BCMG or UC? For example will UC have the same complexity as BCMG? Or will they dumb it down a little. Will it also come out before Xmas in Oz? But that I have played was great. CanÔÇÖt wait to own one of these games. One thing I tried to do was played as a Paramedic or planetary support craft in roam mode. Can they really do anything ie. help NPC? As I just flew around with nothing to do. The manual didnÔÇÖt explain those career well to get me started. P.S. Who ever written the manual for BCMG. I believe is was written for someone who has played Battlecruiser before, not the newbie. Having a section just getting the basic down will help people who tend to judge a game in the first few hours (and not give up) Hope the UC manual is a bit more user friendly but just as detailed. I am happy to be a new BC fan
