  2. I'm guessing this is the right place to post this. I was just playing UCAWA on server 3 using a Battlecruiser MK1 and playing as a military commander. I started at Paladian station in the Procon system and immediately had a SOS coming from a disabled ship. I towed the ship to the station and dropped it off. I noticed an enemy vessel in the system so I jumped to it. I caught up to it right as it was going through the gate to Castrin. I followed it through and when I got to the other side I had 50+ red dots surrounding me . Unfortunately I had turned off my cloak right before I went through the gate. I tried to turn tail and run but I didn't get away fast enough. Game over. I restarted and went back in as an elite force pilot with a zenstar (Re-incarnation.....gotta love it ). I jumped to the gate and went through, and by this time most of the enemy was gone. There were still 5 or 6 figher craft, but I was able to dispose of 4 of them pretty fast and the rest took off. I had a little revenge so I left the game after that, but all-in-all not too bad for my first time really playing on the MP servers. Can't wait to try it out with human teammates. P.S. It is normal behavior in MP for the NPC players to amass an ARMADA and camp out on the other side of a gate waiting for a poor defenseless NOOB commander to fall into their trap? Cause if so next time I'm sending in a probe first and leaving my CLOAK on....

I'm not going to try to 'change' science so that it fits my religious views, but I'm also not going to let science tell me that even though they don't know why certain things happen, they do know it couldn't possible be due to a supreme being. Science and religion CAN co-exist peacefully, as long as science is able to recognize that until it can gather enough evidence to prove otherwise, a supreme being MAY still be responsible for some things. On the other side, once science is able gather enough evidence, religion has to be willing to recognize and accept it. 4. I had the same problem last night. I haven't tried today yet. Maybe the hurricaine in Florida and their lack of power in a lot of places is affecting the ability for the servers to run properly.....

I see two choices, hardly a false dilemna that things either occurred randomly - or things occurred as part of an intelligent being's purpose. The first can be scientifically proven, in other words with Falsifiable evidence. The 2nd cannot be falsifiably proven, therefore it is NOT and CAN not be considered scientific. Just as ID is NOT scientific, and therefore should NOT even be considered teachable in a SCIENCE class. Any other class is fine with me, but NOT science class, because it is NOT science, and has NO place next to an ACTUAL scientific theory like evolution. Well until science knows EXACTLY how the universe works and can PROVE without a doubt that it is not by intelligent design, life being created by ID and life being created by a spontaneous reaction of chemicals in a split-pea soup are both THEORIES that as of now can't be proven.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: quote:Originally posted by Matchoo: I think this leads to the idea the evolution does happen, but it could be occuring with a little help and guidance from a supreme being? That hs NOTHING to do with science, that is a NONfalsifiable assertion. If you wish to BELIEVE that, in a religious context, hey, be my guest, but NEVER claim that it is scientific, because it's not... Well until the time comes that science can prove without a doubt that life came to pass without the help of a supreme being, science had better get used to the idea that MAYBE (I'm not saying it did) life came to pass with the help of a supreme being.

It's fascinating.I think this leads to the idea the evolution does happen, but it could be occuring with a little help and guidance from a supreme being?
  9. I don't know if there is a similar thing out there, but I wrote one I use occasionally that goes through my drives and tells me using a tree view exactly how much space is being used by each directory. I wrote it because I would want to install something but my 40 gig drive (80 gig now, almost full) was full and I didn't know what was using it all. After running the program I would discover that a game I hadn't played in months and had forgotten about was taking up 1-2 gig.
  10. If it's like the first I will probably pass until I can pick it up in a bargain bin. For some reason Battlefront just didn't have the same replay value (at least against bots) that battlefield 1942 had. I could play BF1942 and the Desert Combat mod for hours on end, but with Battlefront I was usually done after one or two rounds.

I actually remembered we are having a birthday party for my cousin on Sunday afternoon so I won't be able to make it.... Also, I'm not quite sure I'm ready for a duel quite yet. I'd rather get on and be someone's practice dummy to start out with.
  12. A few weeks a go I was made the wing leader of the RP authors because I didn't have an internet connection I could use to play. I have one now, so I'll be doing MP instead of RP and I guess I should probably be lowered back down to cadet, and then someone else can be made wing leader of RP Authors for Vanguard.

Cool if you have time on Sunday at 12:30PM PST Drop by fleet server 1 we could use some more targets for our fleet practice maneuvers. Can anybody drop by? Cause if so, the ECV-Clay Pigeon (oops, I mean ECV-Aneres) should be able to make a brief appearance (brief meaning the short time before my destruction )
  14. House OKs Protection for Gun Makers from Lawsuits It's about time on this one, too.

  16. It's about time. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would block lawsuits by people who blame fast-food chains for their obesity...
  17. link quote:ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) ÔÇö The author of a new state law that allows felony charges against owners of dangerous dogs was hospitalized over the weekend ÔÇö after his own dog attacked him. Bob Schwartz, who also is Gov. Bill Richardson's crime adviser, was hospitalized at University of New Mexico Hospital on Sunday night with bites on both his arms, said Pahl Shipley, a spokesman for the governor. The hospital declined to release Schwartz's condition, but Shipley said Schwartz is "going to be fine." Schwartz has three dogs registered with the city: a boxer and two English bulldogs, said Denise Wilcox, who oversees Albuquerque's animal care centers. Schwartz was instrumental in getting a law passed this year that would allow felony charges against owners of dogs deemed dangerous or potentially dangerous and that seriously injure or kill another animal or person. The law was designed to make dog owners accountable, said Sen. Sue Wilson Beffort, who worked with Schwartz to pass the bill. "But I guess when it happens in your own family, that's another story," she said. "That's tragic."
  18. He actually did help, even though he wasn't the one that rescued them in the end. If someone is lost in the mountains and I go up with 200 other people to search for them, if they are found by someone else I still did help, even though it wasn't me who found them. I agree, though, that the article was biased and gave Kennedy far more credit than he deserved.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Don't take my word for it. Try this. No wonder davewave doesn't like your games. At 12:11 he creates the topic complaining about your games. At 12:18 someone asks him who you are and what it has to do with X3, and at 12:20 he requests that someone close the topic because as he puts it: quote:Originally posted by davewave on X Universe forum: Hmm, im sick of this topic, someone close it off. I guess if my attention span was 9 minutes or less I probably wouldn't be able to play your games either.
  20. Yeah. I understand that the majority of items in the game couldn't be extracted since they don't have an actual model that goes with it, but those things that did could be removed from the cargo pod and have their actual game objects placed on the ground within a close proximity of the pod. You could then use a shuttle to tow the sams into position. Maybe someday.....
  21. I've searched the manual, appendices, and the forum for the answer to this question but I haven't been able to find it. If I put items into a cargo pod and beam it down to a planet's surface, is it possible to get the items out of it so I can use them. e.g. I want to set up a small base on a planet guarded by a couple SAM's. I put the SAM's, some ammo, and nutripaks into a cargo pod and beam it, my AE, and 10 marines down to the planet. When I get down there I have a nice pod with the equipment, but no way (that I know of) to actually get them out so I can use them. Is this possible?
  22. quote:Originally posted by firestar: Tek, I think I got the sig now but if not tell me how to correct it and thanks for your help. It looks like you are missing the Earthcom logo and the actual links. The stuff below is similar to how mine is set up, but with most of your info. Make sure everything below is correct and be sure to replace the XXXX in the system profile information with your actual profile number. This should get you mostly there as far as the sig goes, and then when we have the exact details this weekend on how it should look we can fix our sigs. code:Commander Firestar ECV Firestar Earth Command Alliance - (Bulletin Board) Roleplay Authors - Vanguard Fleet System Profile Information
