    About the Valid Target, is a enemy Marine standing 0.1 km away from my own Marines not a valid one?

    here is what happend while playing instant action :

    Pressing Tab for Priority List, than one more time to select my first Marine, than i give him Escort order and repeat until im done with all Marines.

    After that i walk to the enemy marines until im 1.5 KM away, looking for the next hill and fly up + prone. Now the enemy Marines are 0.8-0.3km away, time to kill some.

    After 20 seconds, 4-5 enemy Marines are around(!) me + my own Marines (range under 0.0km), i fly now up to the air, watching as they kill all my marines without any resort. I kill as many marines aslong my Jetpack last, but after that = My Marines killed not one enemy Marine

    edit: hey nice Idea, have to read the manual again, missed the thing that i can split up my marines + Assign Team Leaders. Can i do this in Instant Action Missions to?

    tryed SAD in Instant Action Mission: same again, they only follow me?! Have i screwed up my installation? (Priority List shows them as: SAD / Following)

  2. Hmm, when i look on enemy marines than i see that they are threating me, but my marines wont engange them with escort/defense me order.

    I tryed this now in 6 Instant Missions + Roam mode as Mobile Assault Force. Im everytime the first who dies and the other Marines havent killed just one Marine, while i took about 20 Marines out. When i fly into the air (just a few Meters), than my marines are getting killed without making a single move.

    I love playing on Planets, but its a bit hard without aid from my Marines

    edit: when i deploy Marines via shuttle while still in CC, than they run off and kill one enemy marine after other. But when i beam down, or i fly the shuttle manualy + deploy and give them escort orders, than its the same as above.

  3. I tryed today all Instant Action Missions at Planets. Every Marines has at begin orders to escort me, but they dont do it. They only follow me and shot when i shot. When im under attack they only stay still and watch till im dead lol. I flyed up in the air and watched how my 8 Marines get killed by just one enemy Marine

    So i think Escort is only a Follow Command or? I really tryed much, gived every marines the escord orders twice. Tryed to run away while in combat, but they only follow me...

    Any hints there?

  4. I have stoped playing UC for a while.

    Now with this new Patch its much more faster on Planets, i got around 20 FPS more. The best thing is that i can blast the half base away just with my marines :-p

    Just one Thing is anoying me. Why cant i hit Vehicles which are very small in size in a tank?

    i tryed to decouple the maingun on my mayem and aimed all the way down but never hitted one, the bigger tanks are no problem but smaller ones like ATV and so on are non killable, because the gun dont aim down

  5. After i buyed all upgrades for my Violon Carrier, i decited to make a stop in Gammulan Territory. After i arived at a Gammy Planet, i destroyed a Military Base and wanted to fly to the next Gammulan System, after my Hyperdrive activated i heard the beeping sound for enemy Units. I scanned my Radar... 2 Fightercrafts are heading toward me, so i raised shield and wracked the 2 Fighters with my PTA. I thought it was all, god was i wrong! Right after i destroyed the two fighters, again the beeping sound, this time 4 Fighters against me, so i launched my FC to intercept them. One of my FC got destroyed, but not from the Enemy Fighters....no...a Stormcarrier decloaked about 8000 km from me, right into my fighters and wrecked them to stardust. I got now 4 Fighters after my Carrier, until i scanned my radar which reads 12(!) Fighters after me, i had panic, so i tryed to reach the Jumpgate, just to figure out that another Stormcarrier + Firestorm decloaked, after 4 seconds BOOOOOOOOOOOOM. I think i never visit Gammulans again

Thats true, try to assault a base with ATV/APC MK2 (on Violon, Battlecruiser MK2, Nightstar etc) its much more easyr, but if you dont have Groundvehicles which have missiles, than youre stuck to your Assault Force Marines. Also note that tanks have problems to hit other vehicles and small targets, so your Marines would be much better to destroy them.

    Fighters = Attack Bunkers, Barracks, all big Buildings

    Tanks = Crush Basedefense Turrets and all Buildings with Medium Armor

    Marines = Take out all Vehicel

  7. Update:

    Assault Force Marines have realy Problems to kill anything. If i order them to shot at a Bunker, than they start running and shooting 3-5 missiles (missed it), after reaching the Bunker they only runs circles around it, without firing. If i order my Assault Marine to destroy a fixed Sam than it runs again and shot 3-5 missiles, which misses all (?!) after it has reached the SAM than it just stops and do nothing....

    i updatet my Manual to notice this

    If you ask me, Marines in Groundassault are really worse broken, SAD dont work and the AI do really wierd stuff

  8. I spendet the last three days to assault military bases, this manual is for beginners as for advanged users. This Manual also includes one of the most effective way to destroy an entire enemy Base.

    Chapter I.

    Knowing your Enemy:

    Its important to know, that every Unit/Building has its own Armorplating, there are three types of it.

    High Armor: These buildings are practicaly non destructable by small arms or heavy guns. Only Missiles are able to damage a building with this armortype

    Medium Armor: This Armortype absorbs completly small arms, but heavy guns and Missiles are able to penetrate it

    Low Armor: Only with thin armor covered, it can be destroyed by any weapon

    Only Units with the same Firepower or higher than the armor of the Building can kill it. Remember, heavy Firepower means the use of Missiles!

    Chapter II.

    Prepare for Combat

    First, warp to a Planet, you should arrive at 150km from it. Put your CC on Autopilot and issue following Command:

    Command Craft --> Orders --> Halt

    Now your ship will never leave this position, so you have all the time to plan a Attack.

    We now have to Assign Personal, to do this, activate Tactical --> Crew, if your Marines are not prepared for Combat than do this, or they will be sitting ducks. After theyre ready to deploy send 5-10 Soldiers + all Assault Force Marines to Shuttlecraft 1. Order the remaining Marines to Man 4 GroundVehicles (OC, in each one Marine)

    Make the same with the remaining Shuttles 2-4.(again, one Marine in each Shuttle)

    Next, go to Tactical --> Loadout --> FC1

    Unload all Missiles and give it 5-7 ATS and 3-5 ATA, repeat until youre done with FC 2 - 4.

    Now, activate Perscan and be sure that all personal are in theyr destinated crafts.

    Next Step, activate Tacops, zoom on the Planet and click on Observe, you now see a Map from the Planet with several Missionzones. Pick one DAY Missionzone which is hostile to you, then click again on a Militarybase, you should now see every Building that the base have.

    Chapter III.

    Setting up a massive Attack:

    Our Attack will countain 4 Fightercrafts + 4 Groundvehicles and a good Pack of Marines.

    First we have to order the Shuttles to fly down to the selected Base, to do this we must place a WP 5-10 KM away from the Base with the Order: "Proceed to Next".

    Zoom all the way out, while still viewing on the Base, than click on Waypoints --> SC1 --> Add --> SetPos and place a WP 5-10 KM away from the Base, do the same with SC 2-4. This will be the entry point in the Planet for our Shuttles.

    Now its time to destinate the Dropoff Waypoints for our Vehicles, again, select SC1, this time zoom in so you can see all Buildings, click on --> Add --> Deploy Vehicle --> SetPos and place it 3-5 KM away from the Base (this is really important, Tanks which we deploy needs some space between the target, or they dont shot) Do the same with SC 2-4.

    Remember that we sent our Marines to SC1?! Now we have to deploy them, select SC1 --> Add --> Deploy Team --> SetPos, place it right in the Base, but at least 2 km away from the "Deploy Vehicle WP"

    We also use Fightercrafts, so we need WP┬┤s for em, click on FC1 --> Add --> Wait for Instructions, place it 10-20 Km from the Base away. This means they stay at a save distance to the base, waiting for orders. FC 2-4 need also the same WP, place it.

    Now we have a full Battleplan, Shuttles will fly to the Planet, deploy Vehicles + Marines, while Fighters will wait at a save distance for instructions.

    Chapter IV.

    Fight!

    In the previous Step, we setted up a Battleplan which is very versatile. It depends on how well the Base is defended, as on how many Bunkers + Anti FC Defenses are in. We assume that the base has a strong Antifighter defense so it would be the best to deploy our Tanks + Troops first, which take out the Launchpad and SAL+SAM Units.

    While still in Tacops, viewing the enemy Base, click on --> Command --> Shuttles --> Order --> All --> Launch

    Voila! Our Shuttles now heading down to the Planet, deploying our Vehicles + Marines.

    After all Troops are deployed, press on HOLD at Tacops, time is now paused...

    Lets pick the targets, which are a Threat to our Fighters, zoom in until you see all Buildings, than click at the Vehiclepad --> Add to Priority List, do the same with all SAL + Sam Buildings/Vehicles.

    Now we order our Tanks + Marines to attack the units in the Priority List.

    Click on Vehicles ---> 1 (Thats now OC 1) --> Attack --> Priority List --> Pick a target from the list which has Medium or lower Armor. Do the same with OC 2-4.

    Zoom in on your deployed Marines, search your Assault Force Marines from them (the guys with a Missilelauncher) click on it ---> Orders --> Attack --> Priority List --> Launchpad, do the same with all remaining Assault Force Marines. Last Step, assign 5 Marines to cover your Assault Force Marines, click on it --> Orders --> Escort --- Support Units --> Click on your AssaultMarine, do this with 5 different Marines. Order the remaining Marines to engange SAM&SAL Vehicles, in the same way like you did with your Assault Marines.

    Ok, that was enought work, press on Hold again and watch the show!

    After a few Minutes, the Launchpad should be destroyed and severall SAM+SAL too. Time to launch our Fighters! Click on --> Command --> Fighters --> ALL --> Launch. After our Fighters are at the WP, waiting for instructions, pick again new targets and add them to the priority List, you should also include Bunker + Barracks, so our groundtroops will survive longer, then order the fighter to destroy it, like the same way you did this with your OC.

    Now the enemy Base will have be greatly reduced in Size

    Add all remaining Units/Building into the Priority List and order your units to Attack them (watch that your troops dont have order to attack a target with higher Armor level than its firepower!)

    Chapter V.

    After Action Report & discussion

    Veteran Players will notice, that my Setup hasnt any SAD Waypoints for the Vehicles or Fightercrafts.

    Vehicles: If you give them SAD or SEAD, than they are switching constantly though the targets, which prevents them to fire. Also note, that Vehicles need at least 1km distance to the target, to be effective

    Marines: SAD on Marines is the worst what you can do, currently they are getting stuck at attacking Targets with higher Armorlevel than its Firepower

    Assault Marines have also difficults to destroy any target, they just stop or running around its target, without shooting it, you can temporary fix it by ordering it to attack a other target, but this is time consuming. I would suggest you stick with ATV or APC Mk2 to destroy heavy armor buildings, marines are still good vs low armor units, but nothing else.

    Fightercrafts: SAD works really good, but to take out a Launchpad you need heavy firepower, strike is only a one hit&run order, so only with Attack, it will continue to Attack its Target until destroyed.

    For Beginners i suggest that you pick a base which have a weak defense, there are bases out which have 4-6 Bunkers + Barracks + 6-10 Gunships, many SAM+SAL etc, dont try this, if you doing it your first time.

    Best Vehicle to trash a base: ATV / APC MK2, they destroy a Launchpad in under 10 seconds if they have Missiles loaded

    Fastest Way to destroy a whole base in 20 Seconds:

    Buy an OTS

  9. edit: i played a bit with my marines, if i order them to attack vehicles and gunships, than they kill these in like 3-5 seconds, but it takes a huge amount of time to give all 15 marines orders for every unit to attack. If SAD would simply ignore any structures it would ROCK!

    Just imagine you watch how the shuttles deploy your troops than they run through the wohle base leaving 20 vehicle wracks and 50 dead soldiers behind em

    How about doing the same for tanks, just drop out the buildings on SAD which they cant destroy... (i know its said easyr than its done )

    I have a little Question, if i press 5 while in FPS mode on a Planet i can select units/buildings (TDU), but what do it do? in the manual there is writen that it select units for my troops, which indentify it + attack?!

Thank you, i would be happy if my marines would avoid the nondestructable buildings...hmm anyway why dont make it so that marines can damage all building, not the full damage, i would say like 10% from the firepower, so we have a reason to use them. Its fun to watch Marines vs Marines combat, but i have no reason to do it, i want to kill the base not the marines :-)

    It just takes to long to launch your fighters 5-20 times just to blast all buildings away, its 1000 times faster to use a OTS but where is the fun in it?

  11. I spend yesterday 7 hours to kill a military Base in RTS like play. This means i tryed to kill that base only with Tacops instructions. I managed to kill all big Buildings, like Command&Controll Center etc. But im stuck at killing smaller Targets, like Vehicles, SAM and SL and these damn Bunkers. Here my report:

    I setted the WP for my Fighters, first WP 5 km away from the Base and the second one with SAD in base, while using a manually missleloadout (10 ATS) they did theyr job fine, until they had 5 Missiles, then they stopped to fire any missiles at a target (i think its because they have to low AI), so i ordered em back to the CC. Next i deployed 4 Mayhem Tanks and 15 Marines. The tanks wont do much until i gived em direct orders to attack a selected Building, same with my Marines, i cant do anything if i give em just a SAD Waypoint, like i did with my fighters (anyone other figured that?) The only way i could kill a bunker or other buildings which only can be killed with missiles, was to order my fighters back in, giving em manually orders to attack it, but it takes forever, after all my FC have fired 5 Missiles each, they must return to my CC and wait 15 Minutes until theyre ready again. If i order Assault Marines to kill a Bunker than they shot at it, but all Missiles are missing it.

    I was wondering why the STO are not firing at me, my cc was 150km away from the Planet and i viewed for about 7 hours on the base... (i dont killed em)

    Please post your tactics, how to crush a military Base in the shortest time, with RTS Command

  12. Shall i post screenshots from it? They allways attack SAL or SAM first (getting stuck at it blasting ammo pointless away, after ammo is out, they just stay at the fixed SAL or Sam pointing the weapons on it) i patched to the latest RC7. I also have a Savedgame with my Battleplan setted up...

    DeepFreeze, that exactly what i mean with tanks, first they do near nothing and than after a long time BOOOOM.

    Another confusing thing i found is that i cant give any marines order with TOM, only if i go to Tacops and set em manually to escort me, than i have acess to the marines with TOM

  13. I dont have trouble setting WP and so on, my problem is that my troops are really dump. After my Marines are deployed they are under SAD, but what do they do?! They run to the next SAM or SAL and blast theyr ammo on em away, without doing any damage, if i give em another target than they destroy it and go after the next Sam or SAL which can only be killed with Missiles. Only Assault Marines are a bit good, but when the ammo is out they join the other marines to blast theyr ammo for nothing away.

    Now to the Tanks, i deployed 4 Mayem tanks, they go to SAD, drive thourgh the whole base, fire some and there a shot but dont kill anything, only if i wait like 15-30 Minutes than one Building is down. What do i wrong?!

  14. Now i finally got my new Radeon 9200 SE + UC today shipped and i played it now for 2 hours. Here are my impressions:

    The first time i started up UC, i noticed the new Mainmenu, its several times better than the BCMG one. I startet with Free Roam and hopped in my brand new Megaron, just to glare at it like 10 Minutes, i cant believe that all ships now have such a nice grafic, so i switched to all ships + station in my radar and viewed from external just to see that this is true

    I flyed with my Megaron in the Front of the Earth, observed it and selected a Raider city in a day missionzone. I setted up all WP to do a quick shuttle + OC Attack, while i beam myself down to the Planet. I readed severall Threats in the DC Forum how bad the Planetary Grafics are, but i must say that theyre WAY better than BCMG. After i had beamed right down to the enemy city, i watched how my Shuttles deployed 10 Marines + 2 Mayem tanks in it(really good 3D Models again) I spendet about one hour to play with my own Marines (ok, i killed the half of it ), than i figured out they do what i do with escort command and spendet another 20 Minutes, just to Jump+Prone etc

    Than finally i wantet to blast the undefended enemy City away. I tryed SAD command on my Marines + OC and severall other commands but not one shot was fired on a building (i had 2 Assault Marines with me, theyre still alive)

    So, i just want to know how to crush that city down. Im still there on the Planet

    edit: 2 Marines are heavy wounded, so i wantet to evac it with my Shuttle. i setted 2 WP, one with Proceed to Next and the other 10 km away exact on the Marines which i wantet to evac (evac is on on them), with Extract Team. The Shuttle landed fine, but absoluty nothing happens than, do i something wrong?

  15. Now i have my Copy of UC but my Grafikcard hasent arrived yet :-(

    i played UC without Pixel&Vertex Shader (possible with 3d Analyze) i really like the new round Hud, is much more better. All textures are wrong and i dont even see ships, if i do planetfall than it just crashes. , the strange thing is, that i have BCMG Grafiks in UC. (like Weaponfire, shield effects)I play now UC just in Tacops mode, with this i dont need any grafics , because all units have a square + name around em

    Damn i want my new Card

  16. Argh, i have buyed the SE edition from Radeon 9200 (it runs at 64 bit, not with 128 like most cards now), i searched the web and found several Threats about how bad this Card is....

    i really have not much money, so i buyed this card, it support direct x 8 Shader, so i can play UC which i have also ordered. As i sayd i use a Geforce 2 MX 400 now with 175/166 clock frequenzy

    I even play X2 the Threat at 1024 Resulution at 20-30 Frames...

    Now my question, is my new card a bit faster that my old? or only a bader chard which supports Directx 8 Shader?

    I wish i had found earlyr the function: show all threats lol

    Love that PTA spots, now my Megaron PTA are my new maingun ;-)#

    But i would prefer that we have two PTA modes, one that cover 360 degree of our ship (or incerased Angle) and with lower power, like only 10% from the selected Blastpower
