  1. Oh man... I always write down that stupid p4"p"v8x-x... Gotta change it... So far, I've noticed (in the AGP settings tab of the display properties) that the optimal speed is 8x for both MoBo and GPU, but it's 2x for the OS. Could that mean that Windows is actually creating some kind of bottleneck?
  2. MoBo I think I've made it... I downgraded the bios to the first version available and it worked! Now I finally have 8x. And the possibility to change it via Display Properties. Thanks everyone for your attention and help. If (hopefully no) there are other problems, I'll post here. Thanks again everyone!
  3. My nVidia adapter properties parameters are just like yours: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0. But there's something in the bios I don't like very much... The AGP setting is "auto". And it's grayed out, so I cannot change it. I've enabled 8x support and changed the aperture size to 256, but I cannot change that setting... I think I'll try a downgrade of my bios, but I have to use a program that runs only in dos mode and... Maybe starting with WIN98 cd would work... I'll try now. BTW, that "AGP settings tab in the nVidia Display Control Panel" thing should have appeared, because I worked on the registry to enable it. But there isn't any tab. Is this because AGP is not properly set in the bios? And if I cannot succeed, "someone" (Resnig ) will soon walk the plank... Yeah, there aren't any sharks, but I think even space vacuum is a proper punishment .
  4. Nope... I had already installed them when I started this thread. I'm getting some infos for you.
  5. I have already installed the AGP controller, its drivers should be in the 4in1. As for the bios, I've updated my sig. And I'm sure that both the VGA and the MB supports AGP 8x (I changed MB just to get that kind of support).
  6. Let me explain better this problem. On the nVidia Display Properties I saw this: "Bus type: PCI x0". But in DxDiag it says that AGP Acceleration is Enabled. Then I tried a small tool, WCUIPD, which found that AGP acceleration wasn't enabled. I searched more and found that I could try using coolbits. Tried, but it didn't work. I also tried a tool which updates nVidia Display Properties with the options you select from it. Nothing, the options were still the same, no AGP menu. I tried reinstalling Windows (it was a bit messy) with correct Chipset drivers (VIA Hyperion 4.49v, they're not the latest, but they're the one suggested for my MB). Nothing at all. I also changed video card drivers, trying many versions of them. Nothing...
  7. I found that my video card was using PCI bus instead of the AGP one. I searched and found that it's not an uncommon problem. But, even with all the informations I gathered, I haven't managed to get it to work correctly. Does anybody here have the same problem? Any hints? How can I enable AGP? Already tried many things, like coolbits (they only give me the possibility to overclock, I haven't managed to get to the AGP settings tab), various tools and BIOS.
  8. I think I'll pass the fleet thing for now because I don't have much time and I'm not sure I'd be present whenever I'm needed... Maybe next seasons. And occasionally I'll try to join some MP games as a pirate. I'll sign in when I can. Thanks again for the infos and for the welcome!
  9. Nothing, can't find the topic I was mentioning. Forget about the manual thing.
  10. Thanks everyone for the attention, I'm now gathering informations. And for the manual, I think I've read a topic about this, don't remember where, I found it casually when searching out the forum. I think I remember SC saying that if you had registered you could ask. If I find again I'll re-read and maybe post a link.
  11. Thanks for asking, but I think I'll pass for now. Don't want to slow you down with my n00bness. Maybe, if you're still recruiting, I'll join later, when I've hardened my skin. Btw, how many pages has the english/american manual? I have the italian one and, if it is like BCMG manual, it's lacking many things. My manual has 54 pages, including credits. If it's the case, I'll ask a copy to the CAT.
  12. I've almost forgot to greet all the people here in the forum... Sorry! I' ve just started to play seriously UC, since I bought it many months ago. Really great stuff. Can't wait to buy UCAWA to get even better gameplay... So, hello everyone, hope to become a good friend of yours. Now... Off to train myself...

  14. Terminus, by Vicarious Visions. It's a space-sim/rpg with newtonian space flight model. Available for Linux, Windows and MacOS. Difficult to find (at least here in Europe, unknown in Italy). HardWar, by The Software Refinery. It's not a "true" space sim, in fact you play over the surface of Titan (I'm leaving, don't beat me! ). Piloting small ships you must trade and kill for profit. It's similar to Egosoft's games. The Software Refinery had scarce fortune, and had to close, so the game's no longer maintained by them. Fortunately there's a strong community that keeps everything together. Look at Planet HardWar and Captain Zedo's HardWar Community. There you'll find even the ISOs of the game, plus patches (recently one of the developers has released some unofficial patches), infos and so on.
  15. Sorry, then. I was just curious about differences between GV classes. I was said I posted on the wrong forum, so I thought that here would be more appropriate, since I was quoting from that file. I promise I'll think twice before posting next time.
  16. I was looking for differences between Ground Assets, so I opened Objdefs to see the vehicles specs. I noticed that in the final part of the asset definition there is, between parentheses, a part that i presume indicate the allowed types of movement for the unit. Vehicles of GV1 and GV3 class have "(TYVENUW)", while GV2 ones have "(TYVENW)". So there's a "U" in Tanks and APCs but not in Buggies and similar. In the comments "U" stands for: "can maneuver while on seabed (otherwise will not be able to move)". Then I tried in game and saw that all veichles can maneuver underwater. Why then put that parameter? Is this being implemented? Or has it another function? I made some compliments to SC, don't know if he had read them before the deletion of my post. If not, well, thank you for the great Game and for being one Game Designer that makes games because he wants to play them. Bravo!
  17. I love NetHack and I recently began playing The UnReal World. Just want to share some experiences and comments with other players. Poste here your favourite ones and your comments.
