Isn't it too little to late for Linux-gaming anyway? I mean, with PC-gaming being already on life-support. The fact is, even Linux users play their games on video consoles. The funny thing is that more and more former Linux users are switching to macs because they don't play on their workstations anyway. It's ironic how open-source champions have no problems switching to macs. At the end of the day all you want is getting the job done, be it work or play.

Short answer: No! I don't know what part of Chicago you live in, but from where I sit, we as a race are most certainly nowhere near godhood. I mean there are still too many things unfinished and problems that remain unsolved that we can claim that we're close to wherever we want to be. And that's the beauty of being human. There are always challenges left to be tackled. What would be the point otherwise?

Actually, there's no contest here, the Wii and the XB360 aren't even in the same galaxy. The XB360 has the lead right now (although it's a noisy console once the cooling fans start spinning) and I have my doubts that the PS3 will be able to catch up at this point. Same here, I've never owned a console before.

I saw a Wii console at work today and I had the chance to try out Wii-Sports. The Wii-mote is pretty cool and while I haven't tried the nunchucks, it seems like a nifty idea. Tennis takes some getting used to, but then it does on any system. Golf is ok and so is boxing. Baseball and bowling are probably the best of the lot. Yes, it's true that the games are very juvenile in style but still I'm thinking of getting one for myself. It's the way you interact with the games that makes the console fun to use. You can either just move your wrist to swing the bat or you can actually do the full motion with your arms and body and get the same result. Playing video games this way may actually be good for your health. It sure beats walking your dog in the rain. I'll keep an eye on the next batch of games coming out to make my final decision.

Maybe, but I doubt it'll be new. A refurbished and/or used one may sell for $200.00. Prices for flat screens have dropped quite a bit, it's probably just a matter of time, I guess.

Here's an update: B5:TLT Pre-Production report with a few snapshots... yes it's happening and right next to Battlestar Galactica's offices.

Looked pretty unspectacular. Night landings on a carrier have the pilots breathe a lot harder. Glider and space shuttle pilots do this all the time. Piece of cake. He was lucky to have the runway close by. He did save a $35M plane from becoming a smoking pile of junk, so he certainly deserves to get a bonus.

I'm glad Shrek wasn't a real creature, otherwise there'd be people spoiling the fun of those movies too. Bambi, not so happy... you can't please everyone I guess.

One thing that did bother me was the opening credit theme song, that one plain sucked, what were they thinking? But then we got a great movie instead, so I guess that's the price to pay.

I agree, definitely one of the best Bond movies in years. Craig is Connery on steroids minus the gadgets, but you won't miss them. Bond is back!

At the pace things are progressing right now it's hard to see things improve in the next decade or so. And then there's World of Warcraft which surely doesn't help the other genres to stay afloat. It's been a balancing act for quite some time, at least that's what space sim development looks like from the outside to me.

I'd put it in the Duke Nukem Forever league of news bits but here goes: Braben reveals Elite's Future He comes off a bit like George Lucas, apparently the (network) technology wasn't ready at the time (year 2000). Someone who can fit an entire galaxy on two 3.5" floppies has technology issues??? Gimme a frackin' break. Anyway, at least it's still in the production line-up.
