Guest Dark Man Posted January 27, 2000 Report Posted January 27, 2000 Hi!I've read the FAQ and got rid of the setup and joystick files. I get through the intro and the basic info at the first then I see the 3000ad logo and it kicks me back to the desktop. I have v2.0 that works fine but when I install the v2.0 to v2.08 patch it started to do this. I could use the help. I'm no computer genius so could you keep it simple. I like this game and would like to play it. Can Anyone help me? If my Cpu is overclocked wouldn't it do the same thing with v2.0? If that is the problem how do I fix it?
SpacePhish Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Okay, read the section in the faq about memories. What is you sysetm spec? We have to know what kind of system you're running and if you are playing the 3DFX mode. ALso make sure you have enough mem in dos. While in the DOS promopt box type mem. Tell me what the line : Largest executable program size : read. That's all for now I guess. Just make sure you read the faq carefully, the key to the perfect game is in there. Double check!BTW, are you into DMX? Isn't that what he calls himself, the Dark Man?
Supreme Cmdr Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 I forgotten where I left my crystal ball. As soon as I find it, I'll post your system specs.btw, v2.08 is not the most recent version.
GREG MILLER Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Make sure you are starting a new game. Prior version saved games do not run in v2.08.------------------ CMDR GREG MILLER (GMAN) ORION FLEET RECRUITMENT OFFICER TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV- SARK'The righteous care about justice for all, but the wicked have no such concern.' Guest Dark Man Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Sorry about not puttin the specs on. Here they are: 300 mhz Celeron Yamaha OPL3-SAx sound card MGA-G100 video card Win 98 v.2.0Let me point out that I have the v.2.0 the CD version. I put the patch to go up to v.2.08 then I got the patch for v.2.09. I put that on and it did the same thing. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it that didn't work. Now I got more problems the intro won't even start. The 3dfx for v.2.0 doesn't even work. Man! do I got problems! LOL. Oh! I don't know if this means anything but I got this message:dos/4gw professional error(2001): exception Odh(genral protection fault: at 127:0000080F I don't know if this means anything. I also checked the memory it said I had 600KB is this enough. If it isn't how do I get more memory? [This message has been edited by Dark Man (edited 01-27-2000).]
SpacePhish Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Will make sure everything in the shortcut is configed correctly. Read the faq regarding setting it up. You have enough dos mem to run so you're cool. Also do not run the game in 3DFX mode when you don't have a 3DFX card, ex. Voodoo1,Voodoo2,Voodoo3 cards made my the company called 3DFX(or whatever as long it can run glide). BattleCruiser use the 3DFX Glide API, that's why only 3DFX cards can run in the 3DFX mode. BTW, I could be very wrong because I don't know nothing 'bout the the MGA card. It's it bundled DVD card???
Supreme Cmdr Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 The Matrox MGA G100 card is not a 3DFX card. Read the FAQ again. Twice.
Guest Dark Man Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 I figured that one out! Yet I can't even run v.2.09 in software mode. It starts normal enough then I see the 3000ad logo then boom back to the desktop. I don't know where to beginning looking for the problem. HELP!
Guest aramike01 Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 I had the same problem awhile back, when I first patched up to v2.08. When I first uninstalled, I forgot to delete the BC3K folder before reinstalling. So, when I reinstalled I kept clicking on the "dead" icon and getting the same result as you. So tyr uninstalling, delete everything, and reinstall the game.Btw, did you download the patch into your BC3K folder, or at least move it there before applying it?Lastly, if none of the above work, do what I did: Uninstall and delete everything, including the patch, and start from scratch. Worked for me!------------------ Commander Michael Kristophers Spectre Fleet ICV-Intrepid[This message has been edited by aramike01 (edited 01-28-2000).]
Guest Dark Man Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Hey! It's working now! Thanks everyone for the help and patience.
Guest aramike01 Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Hey Dark Man, if you please, tell us what you did to correct the problem. That way, next time a newbie comes along who has the same problem as you, he/she can be directed to this thread.Btw, while your at it, you may want to check out the map-pak. ------------------ Commander Michael Kristophers Spectre Fleet ICV-Intrepid[This message has been edited by aramike01 (edited 01-28-2000).]
Guest Dark Man Posted January 28, 2000 Report Posted January 28, 2000 Well! I deleted everything and then reinstalled it; then I added the patches. Tryed it and it worked.
Rattler Posted January 29, 2000 Report Posted January 29, 2000 Hehe, Ya mean you did a proper install? That's all it took? Don't feel bad Commander, You are NOT alone! Shhhhhh! Don't tell anybody, but...... even Rattler screwed up an install once!
