I own v1.0 full, but gave up on the game after a bug filled experience and juggling multiple patches. I loved the concept of the game, and the gameplay, when it held up, was superb.

It's been months and months (over a year, two? whatever) since I even thought of the game. Browsing my entire CD collection, I spotted BC and decided to see what's changed.

$15 to get the latest version? Eek. You'd think for the $30+ I spent originally, and all the time I spent trying to beat the bugs, and for all the disappointments I endured when it crashed... they'd kick down for an "old school" BC fan...

Well, is it the game worth it? I just dropped in and posted.. haven't read the other posts here yet.. I guess I'd better.

Well, after reading through some of the posts, as well as surfing a BC3k Web Ring, I've gotten the old yearning back.. so I searched the web and got some patches for the 1.x version, and am going to try and recreate the game up to v1.8b..

... of course, I forgot to mention I'm running Win2k, which could foil my attempt altogether. Here goes nothing...

All I can say is... You ain't seen nothin' yet!

The current version is 2.09. The biggest enhancement (note *enhancement*, not bug fix) is ground operations. $15 for the upgrade is worth it considering that you are buying into a franchise -- read up on Battlecruiser:Millenium and Battlecruiser:3020 for the scoop on the future vision.

Hmm.. thanks for the input. Do you know if it runs under Win2k? If it doesn't, then I'm outta luck as I only have 1 box.

It figures.

Why do I even bother keeping that cursed CD?

And your reply, "It doesn't", seems to imply one or more of the following:

That you couldn't care less if I get to play it or not.. didn't care to explain why it won't run or won't be dev'd further for Win2k

That you took offense at my mentioning the miserable bugginess of early versions of BC3k

That you aren't interested in developing for Win2k, and maybe not for WinMil

That you could care less

Maybe I read too much into that reply, but I would've thought a reply from the Supreme Commander (aka Designer/Developer) would've been a bit more informative and/or helpful.

Ah well....

CelticLegend!

Hello fellow veteran smile.gif /sp? oh, who cares/ Well, welcome back to the world of BC :-)

It did get better since, and it's challenging to play, at times, even... Most of the bugs are out of the engine, and it's a GOOD space sim, and and unsurpassed free mode "pirates"-like, if u like :-)

Welcome back, and make sure you upgrade to ver. 2.09 and download a "mpak1.zip" to play other than Galcom side... Also, drop in for the chat in the Village smile.gif

Man, i've been here ever since i got that pirated copy of ver. 1.... this game is the closest to my own dream, when i had one ;-) U are back... well, good timing! it's getting there, believe me :-)

See you, oldtimer smile.gif

Supreme Commander-

Why didn't you mention BC3K Millenium will run under Win2k?

CL

P.S. Thank you Den, for the welcome. I may get to participate in this space saga yet.

...because I have better things to do with my time than to keep repeating info that is readily available. Go to the products section of the site and read it.
