Guest crazydave Posted October 2, 2000 Report Posted October 2, 2000 I'm not mad at anyone I'm just frustratted! I've done everything.. I've downloaded and successfully patched in 2.08 & 2.09. I downloaded voodoo & have glide2x I have downloaded directx7.0 and tested it and it is working fine and the game will still not start. I have contacted support via email and get the same things. Here is what happens when I try to start the game. I goto start then programes then click on bc3k then a dos screen appears then more dos then it turns blue then it goes to a blank screen. Can someone out there help me. Thanks Well three hours is enough time to spend I have to goto work now hope to here from you..------------------ David Bentley...
Papi Posted October 2, 2000 Report Posted October 2, 2000 Plz give us more info about your system, video card etc. so we can help you. And always remember to install patches IN bc3k folder, for example you should download or copy patch file in f.ex. "c:gamesbc3000ad" folder and run patch file from there, read F.A.Q it contains very important information!------------------ Cmdr Jason Cloud GCV Silver Lining, GENESIS (Moon) 26 Squadron Commander, 2nd squadron Prime fleet, Gamma Wing

Steve Schacher Posted October 2, 2000 Report Posted October 2, 2000 quote:I goto start then programes then click on bc3k Don't start the game from the start menu. You have to configure an icon with the proper memory and other options.Check the trouble-shooting FAQ.
Eclipse Posted October 2, 2000 Report Posted October 2, 2000 To my knowledge, at least, the Icon that the setup prog makes, SHOULD work, but if you have problems make sure ti read the FAQ. Also as was already posted, please give us more info about your system.------------------ Commodore Kyle Antilles ICV-Eclipse, Destiny Starstation (Nevuela) Commanding Officer, Destiny Spectre Fleet
Rattler Posted October 2, 2000 Report Posted October 2, 2000 quote:Don't start the game from the start menu. You have to configure an icon with the proper memory and other options. No he doesn't! That shortcut formed in the Programs Menu works just fine!Rattler
Guest Vaipa Posted October 4, 2000 Report Posted October 4, 2000 Well crazydave.. maybe I'm missing a point here.. but in the hardware list that you posted on the other thread I don't see ANYTHING remotely close to a 3dfx card. You say you have downloaded voodoo & glide2x.. they're useless without a 3dfx card (Voodoo1, voodoo2, Voodoo3 , voodoo4, voodoo5).Directx is again uselsee.. so run the game using the game executable (with windows explorer) , not the shortcut made by the installer.. it may work this way
Rattler Posted October 4, 2000 Report Posted October 4, 2000 Right on target Vaipa, he doesn't have a Voodoo based card so he can't use the 3DFX shortcut. Good catch! The shortcut made in his Programs Menu in Windows will work just fine. Just use the one that says BC3K. If they didn't work, don't you think that I would have reported it before now and Derek would have fixed it I'm sure! ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester,Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 4, 2000 Report Posted October 4, 2000 Why are there two threads devoted to this rubbbish?
Rattler Posted October 5, 2000 Report Posted October 5, 2000 New Commander who didn't know any better. Have screened the closed thread and found no pertinent/contributional data. Deleted same.------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester,Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104
Charles Lindsey Posted October 5, 2000 Report Posted October 5, 2000 quote:Thankyou and everyone for responding to my call for help. I hope this is enough info: * 64mb SDRAM shared memory architecture with up to11mb dedicated to video mem.. *8.4 GB ultra DMA harddrive. *Expandable and upgradable with 4 bays and 3 slots. *High vilocity V.90 K56flex data fax modem. *Integrated Intel direct AGP hardware with up to 11mb of dynamic video mem. *40X max. speed CD-ROM drive. Sound and Video: Crystal audio codecmpu-401 compatible battlecruiser version 2.07 What shortcut settings? No noticable error messages! These are his specs in case anyone who missed the other thread was interested. Definitely trying to run the 3dfx shortcut with the AGP was wrong. But only 64 meg RAM and then 11 is shared with the video? Ouch. That's about as bad as my original 48 meg RAM with 4 shared with the vid card. It's tough to run it like that. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor FleetOfficial BC3K Tester
Akira Posted October 5, 2000 Report Posted October 5, 2000 Hehe, Chavik, it's tough but not impossible. Just in case you didn't catch what's been said here David: You have what appears to be built in video on your motherboard. You DON'T have a 3dfx video card. Use the other shortcut created by the program. If it things still don't work, then be sure to read the Troubleshooting FAQ first. If things in the FAQ don't seem to work, return here and use the search function to see if anyone has already asked about the problems you're having. If you still can't figure out what's going, return to THIS thread and post another question. Be specific about your system specs. Be specific about what you tried from the FAQ and what happened. Be specific about what you searched for here in the forums. Finally, with as much detail as possible, describe your problem. As Rattler so aptly described, there is virtually nothing you can bring forward that hasn't already been seen. The closer you follow the above steps, thought, the faster you're likely to get the answer you need!Happy gaming
Charles Lindsey Posted October 5, 2000 Report Posted October 5, 2000 Didn't say it was impossible. I did it. But as you point out it was tough. I could have nothing in the toolbar but the clock and the speaker icon. Even then if I pushed the game I could get dropped back to the desktop at anytime. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor FleetOfficial BC3K Tester[This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 10-04-2000).]
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 5, 2000 Report Posted October 5, 2000 It is my guess that the integrated video is probably an Intel i740 or i840. The FAQ covers this.Apart from that, what irks me is that it never ceases to amaze me how people just don't read docs. The FAQ clearly discusses the differences between a 3DFX card and a non-3DFX card.
