Guest Posted December 17, 2000 Report Posted December 17, 2000 I have a laptop, HP Pavillion 3370, AMD k62-550, 64 Meg RAM. I installed BC3000 2.0, got the sound running using the soundblaster driver, got the game to come up to the start new game screen, killed it and then applied the patch to 2.08, I am now getting a Invalid Page exception. Have no idea what the ^&*( that means and am hoping someone can help me figure it out. Thanks in advance!!! ------------------ CMDR Jaguar GCV Excelsior This is not just a game, It's a life unto itself!!

Gallion Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 1 - Patch up to v2.09. 2 - Redo the sound setup.exe at the dos prompt.Post what happens after you do the above. Please provide more details as to the type of v-card/device that HP paperweight is using. I have had BC3K v2.09 running on both a IBM Thinkpad and a Compaq Presario paperweights (aka laptop ) without any problems.TTFN------------------ Fleet Commander Gallion (Pro Tem) GCV Graf Spee, Starbase Cerberus Fleet Leader - Wraith Fleet (Pro Tem) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/Corsair Wing "Run Silent, Run Deep" Corsair Cove Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series Leader, Team 1[This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 12-17-2000).]

Guest Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 I believe that it's the sound card causing all the problems here. VMM sure looks like the soundcard driver. It has a DOS emulation driver, and I believe it is colliding with the windows drivers. Can anyone help me with this, PLEASE!!! ------------------ CMDR Jaguar GCV Excelsior This is not just a game, It's a life unto itself!!
Gallion Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 Make sure that you apply the bc3kmappak.exe.Try that and post result.TTFN
Guest Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 Did all of it over again, got rid of the setup CFG file and HMIset file and redid the sound, and then tried to start, this time it killed the computer, literally turned it off and restarted it. Once it had restarted, I again, killed setup cfg and the hmiset, redid the sound setup, and then tried to start the game. It is totally patched, for the 3rd time, from nothing!!! It again gave me the same error message as above. have tried everything, I am STUMPED.Again 2.0 runs like a rock, it's only after I apply the patches that this problem occurs. The movie plays fine, it just crashes back to the desktop.Frustrated beyond belief, have never had a problem getting BC3K to run on anything.HELP!!! I want to play while I'm on the road!!!------------------ CMDR Jaguar GCV Excelsior This is not just a game, It's a life unto itself!!
Gallion Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 hmmm...not good. You may have a bad v2.08 patch file since v2.0 runs w/o any problems yet when you patch to v2.08 it crashes. Short of re-downloading and applying v2.08 anew I am stumped too. Guest Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 Actually, I did that too, downloaded the patch directly to the laptop from the site. Still a no go!!! Going to give it up for tonight, hopefully someone can come up with a new idea!! Thanks!!------------------ CMDR Jaguar GCV Excelsior This is not just a game, It's a life unto itself!!
Charles Lindsey Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 Uhhmmmm, have you read the faq?Start over. Uninstall from Windows Control panel. Reinstall 2.0. Do not run sound setup or run the game. Patch to 2.09. Then run sound setup. Now you have to tweak your shortcut according to the faq. Been a while but I think that's the procedure from the 2.09 FAQ.Do all the other junk too like checking mouse drivers, etc. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor FleetOfficial BC3K Tester
Guest Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 Thanks for the above, but have done ALL of that, 3 times so far and going for 4. 3rd time I didn't try to set up the game until ALL patches had been installed, crashed, and so deleted files as stated above. Still no dice. Oh, well, let my fryed mind get some sleep and maybe it'll come up with a solution overnight. ------------------ CMDR Jaguar GCV Excelsior This is not just a game, It's a life unto itself!!
aramike Posted December 18, 2000 Report Posted December 18, 2000 When you uninstall, make sure to manually delete the BC directory folder from your harddrive. Then, make sure you install to the default folder.
