Guest Gary Nicholson Posted June 23, 2001 Report Posted June 23, 2001 I Have an AMD 950 w/Windows Millenium and a CH Flight Stick Joystick. Windows recoginizes and I can calibrate the joystick but when i go into BattleCruiser and it asks me to bring the joystick up to top left corner and press a button nothing happens. I have looked thru all the faq.'s and online info and nothing seems to apply. Sound card is Soundblaster Live. Sound works fine. Rest of Game works fine. It's frustrating trying to fly a ship with the arrow pad.
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 24, 2001 Report Posted June 24, 2001 Try going into Config, changing to keyboard. Then quit, delete the joystick config file. Start the game, go back into config and change to joystick....its all in the FAQ.
Guest Gary Nicholson Posted June 25, 2001 Report Posted June 25, 2001 Thankyou for your reply Commander. The only thing I keep running into is that no joystick.cfg file ever seems to be created and thus that step in the procedures cannot be accomplished. Is there somewhere else other than the BC3000ad folder it might be held? Thanks...
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 25, 2001 Report Posted June 25, 2001 If it doesn't create one, that means it can't detect the joystick. Try opening up a DOS console window and adding /j param and seeing if it returns anything.
Guest Gary Nicholson Posted June 25, 2001 Report Posted June 25, 2001 I tried your recommendation and received the following.invalid joystick.setThis file also does not exist in my directory. Thanks again for your assistance Commander. Hope this leads onto the right track.
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 26, 2001 Report Posted June 26, 2001 The file won't be created unless you actually go into Config, select a joystick, and quit the game. Then see if that file is created or not, then try the /j switch again.
Guest Gary Nicholson Posted June 26, 2001 Report Posted June 26, 2001 Commander: I have checked several times after configuring for joystick and no joystick.set file is created. This may be because I do not get past the calibrate joystick screen after the configure screen but have to esc out for keyboard option.Ensign Blue Kestral
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 26, 2001 Report Posted June 26, 2001 Then its not detecting the joystick. Its not a USB stick is it?
Guest Gary Nicholson Posted June 26, 2001 Report Posted June 26, 2001 Commander: No, its a regular CH Flightstick Joystick. Guess I'm S.O.L.
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 27, 2001 Report Posted June 27, 2001 Well, dunno what to tell you. All I know is that I used to play BC3K with *that* particular joystick and it worked fine.Did you try selecting just the pure joystick option in Config?

Guest Gary Nicholson Posted June 27, 2001 Report Posted June 27, 2001 I re-installed program w/upgrades and had already tried every joystick config listed but still no go. No joystick.set file is ever created. It could very well be possible that Windows Me is the problem because it doesn't do DOS well at all.
