Guest nOmArch Posted July 11, 2001 Report Posted July 11, 2001 Hi,figured i'd better post this in the newbie area as i couldn't decide if it fitted into any of the other catagories.i was browsing through alt.fan.elite when i came across a thread discussing other games that were like elite and Battlecruiser 3000AD wasin the list. now i tohught that the game was so buggy as to be unplayable etc. etc. but it said in the thread that the final patched version was pretty much bang on and because of the legal wranglings had been made a freeware release.cue me spending the next couple of hours trying to find a link to download it from. unfortunately every link i tried was dead...extremely dead.can anyone supply me with a link that works?im looking into battlecruiser millennium but i'd like to play BC3000AD first.many thanks!Alex aka Commander nOmArch
Wold Posted July 11, 2001 Report Posted July 11, 2001 Uh, correct me someone if I'm wrong, but I don't think that BC3000AD is freeware. There are some places that are selling CDs from 5 to 15 bucks. If you pick up one of these make sure it is ver 2.0 or newer. There are a couple of patches that need installed. Otherwise, get the BCM demo and play that.
Charles Lindsey Posted July 11, 2001 Report Posted July 11, 2001 Wold's suggestion of getting the BCM demo is great. That would give you give you an updated version. There is/was a BC3K freeware version. More trouble than it's worth nowadays. IF you can find it the very original version consisted of about ten zip files. They had to be downloaded in perfect order. If you could not download them in perfect order you had to unzip them in perfect order to a temp folder and run the compiler. Then once you compiled it you had to run the setup and install it to the default folder. I beleive that later a more integrated version came out that you could download in one swipe. I could tell you where to get the freeware bc3k or the bc3k V2.0 demo but you wouldn't like it. Us AOLwipes don't care cause we already earlobe deep in AOL.Get the BCM demo.
Guest nOmArch Posted July 11, 2001 Report Posted July 11, 2001 thanks chaps!! im gonna order BCM so tally ho and chocks away!! Alex aka Commander nOmArch
Spuzzum Posted July 12, 2001 Report Posted July 12, 2001 Actually, I did a search on this not too long ago. This is the old, freeware 1.01D7C version. It is both a) unsupported, and not nearly as great (that's an understatement) as 2.0, or the newer BCM. And it's still great. Anyway, you can find v1.01D7C over at Home of the Underdogs, http://www.theunderdogs.org/ Actually, I'm fairly sure I'm the one who pointed it out to them...Or, you can direct-download the files from the following address: ftp://ftp.u-net.net/pub/games/battlecruiser3000/...which is the address I gave The Underdogs. I didn't have any problems downloading the files, either. I did have one small error, but that was because I didn't follow the instructions in the readme to the letter. (Actually, I did, but I forgot to change the directory as well as the drive letter. )[ 07-12-2001: Message edited by: Spuzzum ]
Rico Jansen Posted July 17, 2001 Report Posted July 17, 2001 I'm sure you'll notice in the very very near future, but check todays GNN and Developers diary. The SC went crazy!!!And we all love him for it.
Guest Posted July 17, 2001 Report Posted July 17, 2001 The files aren't up yet, but you need to go to fileplanet, or the underdogs, the full version of battlecruiser 3000 2.09 will be up very soon. the SC said that he was uploading the files to them, and I take him at his word, but it takes a few hours for the sites to be updated.
Kwaichang Posted July 18, 2001 Report Posted July 18, 2001 I know, I'm exicited, I've been scouring the file sites for it. Even found the old 2x demo on alot of them.
Guest tom wolf Posted July 19, 2001 Report Posted July 19, 2001 I just wonder how long it might take before those files show up at underdogs and fileplanet...somebody said a few hours, it's been over 24 hours now... Just couldn't hold myself anylonger and had to ask...
Kwaichang Posted July 19, 2001 Report Posted July 19, 2001 Underdogs normally updates at the end of the week. I don't know about fileplanet. I've been checking both and waiting with baited breath :-)
Guest tom wolf Posted July 20, 2001 Report Posted July 20, 2001 well well...I woke up, took a look at gnn and what do I see?..the file is there at fileplanet and I have a long wait in about 7 hours couse of my 56k connection... it's out for the grabers so head over to FP and get it...
