I recently started in trader free flight mode

and as soon as I launched I got a message that karl Reines himself was a guest on my battlecruiser! (band music starts playing)

I was just wondering why? is it just some random event?

By the way in TacOps when I click on the fleet tab all I get is a list of ships and when I click one... nothing happens

Did you go to Mars? I bet that you did!! And if you look closely, you also now have fleet C&C!! Duh, you already said that!! lol all the ships in your allied starbases are yours to command, use them!! They come in REAL handy for taking over other starbases, although, I go for the single cloaked ship approach!! and when you take over a starbase, use those ships to defend it as it is being repaired.

Nope, it wasn't random, everything has a purpose!!! LOL

No karl Reines didn't come onboard on mars (if thats what you ment) he was just there the first time I launched from GCHQ

I thought I read somewhere that you only get guests playing the capaign missions and not free flight??? If so then how did this happen?

Don't know what to tell you then, Karl Reines sits at Mars and waits for you to pop in, and then he gets on your ship. But this game is very strange in that it thinks for itself, he may have been on a ship Mars that had jumped into earth region and therefore when you launched he jumped on board.

The games AI is very advanced and not at all what you would call reliable in it's actions, it will do things tha you would never think that it could or would do. No games is ever the same, ever. But feel lucky, you have had fleet c&c without having to do anything!!! lol

You were playing an ACM mission in free-flight disguise. It was infact a GBS script that set your career to terran/trader and transported a character by the name of Karl Reines onboard. In effect giving you FC&C over terran/trader 'forces'. It is very well possible the SC made this script to transport Karl when GHQ detected you, instead of Starpath. As one of the very first FC&C goodies the SC gave us we had to jump to Mars to get Karl. I think Jaguar was thinking of this one. You probably have a later version or something. Nothing wrong here. Just a tad different.

To use FC&C you need to point your cursor over the (terran/trader) ship/station in question and then click your mouse. (guessing left, ... or right ... No!, left it is) You should get an order-selection menu or something. You can only order stations/ships of your own race and caste.

WHAT?!?!?! you mean I can only order lowly trader ships around??

[big] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooOOOOOOooooooo

That was your intention, not? Becoming a trader? You don't have any jurisdiction over any of the other races or castes, so they mind their own business.

Ofcourse, you have the firepower onboard to teach them otherwise.

My only reason for not starting in normal free flight mode was because (not sure if this is true) I read somewhere that some normaly hostile stations will allow docking clearence to a trader where as they will refuse a military ship. And of course when starting as a trader I had no idea that I would imedeatly be given fleet command!

Now hear that!!! Didn't know he'd get FC&C when starting that particular career ... and then starts whining he can't order things around other than his own race/caste! What a nerve!

Outside? Sure, there's the airlock. Go right ahead.

But I think you got your questions answered, so let's not turn this topic into a pissing contest, shall we.
