Hi there, I just picked up a copy of BCM. Haven't played Battlecruiser in a bit, but I can see that Battlecruiser has gone a long way - BCM is great.

There is one feature I've been unable to locate anywhere, however, and that's the time compression. While I can appreciate playing the game in real time from a realism standpoint, it seems like I'm spending alot of my time in the game just trying to arrive at my destination.

This leaves me with two questions:

Is there a way to activate Time Compression in BCM? (Cheat or otherwise)

If there's no way to activate Time Compression, is there some things I can do to make time compression unneccesary?

By that last question, I'm particularly wondering if there's a way to speed arrival to different parts of the planet - perhaps choosing where to descend from orbit.

I've been thinking it might be fun to go take a Galcom Police Destroyer and buzz a planetside raider base in VTOL mode, Ion cannons blazing, but when I have to look forward to a 50,000 range flight in order to get there the idea pales somewhat.

Also, it'd be nice to be able to accerate time when repairing at a stairbase. (Alas, it seems that my poor Battlecruiser's shields just can't stand up to a prolonged burst from an enemy fighter.)

If you set up a waypoint on the planet for your CC when you enter the planets atmosphere you will be close to that waypoint. If your already on the planet do the same exit the planet into orbit and then re-enter and you'll come back down close to the waypoint.....there is NO time compression

As for the shields.....sounds like it's time to do some trading...make some cash....and upgrade those puppies...lol.......Yes, Fighters can be very Dangerous in this game....Wait til MP when they're gonna have HUMAN pilots!!! It's gonna be great!!

Have a wonderful day.

Setting Waypoints will do what you want here. Manual tells how to do this.

Time acceleration is not an option due to problems it causes with the AI. There's a post somewhere by SC that states this but I can't seem to find it today....

Thanks for the assistance!

Ah, so I place waypoints for my CC eh? Hmm, I wonder if it'll work if I warp to the planet without autopilot (which tends to take it's time getting to the planet).

I haven't learned to survive long enough to accumulate any real cash to upgrade my CC with yet. Hopefully some better shields will stop it from getting popped by a fighter - my poor Galcom Police officer is little match for them right now, I suppose I could fire more missiles but that could get costly in a hurry.

I look forward to seeing this game go MMORPG, although I imagine I'll need more bandwidth than my 56k modem to handle that kind of action, heh.

Ah, it's in the manual, is it? Learning how to play BattleCruiser is a bigger task than most games, and I'm actually glad of this since I like a deep game. However, I somehow missed that whole waypoint thing.

Ah, so it's a engine AI restriction that the time compression was removed.

Not putting it on autopilot? *gasp* You must have alot of patience. If the trip to an object is below 1000 clicks, the AP doesn't hyper. Be smart and take a detour to a distant object first and then jump to your intended destination. It work wonders for my shuttles (mk1), but maybe not for your CC. It all depends on initial range to target, hyper transit&recharge time and max speed. Hope there's a tip for ya.

56k is minimum requirement. so it's not impossible.

Been that since some version halfway into bc3k v2.0x

*sigh*

Alright, if you put a waypoint ANYWHERE on a planet for you CC (or any ship in fact), you will appears near that waypoint when you go down the atmosphere, whether the autopilot is ON or OFF.

To go down a planet, press SHIFT-F9. 2 thing might happen:

1 - If you are far, it asks if you want to go down the planet, and if you say yes, you jump and go down just after.

2 - If you are near, pressing shift-F9 will make you enter the atmoshpere automatically and instantly.

Hope that solves is it up.

And now that SC made playmod available you can access H.S.D and E.N.M, that makes it much easier to travel through galaxy.
