Stolen SC

Recommended Posts

OK I'm a complete n00b so if this question sounds dumb you were warned

I had intruders aboard, they swiped one SC for sure before I shutdown launch control power. After that I'm ordering my marines around, I capture one intruder but I still have another on PERSCAN and it says he's in SC3.

I spent a bunch of time telling marines to go to SC3 but instead they just man their posts. I remembered reading that when you dock at a base the base sends over help and all intruders are removed so I visited a base.

When I undocked I checked PERSCAN and all intruders were gone including the guy in SC3 but SC3 is still showing red. Next I check SC3's status, it's not damaged. I try sending a marine or two to it but they don't go there.

After a while I mouse over SC3 and notice it's location shows as 'Pluto'!?!

So my question is, what really happened and if I wanted to visit Pluto could I hunt down my SC and recover it?

Whoever stole it, ditched it on Pluto

If you can find it, good luck. Just buy a new one

Thats why its showing Red, since you no longer have it. And if its on Pluto, how is your crew going to get to it....from being on board the CC?

OK then it's what I thought it was. I was mostly confused because I still had status on that SC. I don't have status for SC4, I guess it was destroyed.

I imagine locating a shuttle on a planet might be a little difficult. Or do I (or my crew) actually know where it is? Could I send another shuttle down to Pluto and tell it to escort SC3 then once it homes in on it have it land and order crew to go to SC3?

Of course I'm still getting a major kick out of the fact that you can leave space for atmosphere and then land and get out.

I don't want to spoil the fun too much but as to locating the shuttle, that's the easy part. Just go to tacops and observe Pluto (once you're in the region of course) then use the zoom function (big cube little cube icon on the top right) to zoom into the shuttle. Now the shuttle might be listed under support craft or it might be listed under one of the other menus as it can now actually be considered an enemy craft. Anyway, set a waypoint for whatever ship you plan to use for the rescue in the vacinity of the stolen shuttle and then let the fireworks begin!

Make sure that you report back on how well the mission goes and as this seems to be your first venture into this brave new world, save often.

To be honest, this is the first time Ive heard that a NPC can take a SC and land it on a planet.

Normaly, for me, it gets destroyed! So I dont go looking for it.

To be honest, I thought that if the shuttle left the region, it was destroyed automaticly.

Quick question.. Were in the same region of pluto when it was stolen?

There's nothing odd about it. If there is no friendly or neutral (to them) station or ship in the area, they will head for a planet.

And why is it strange that you are five jumps from Pluto and your SC is stolen? What'd I miss?

Surely you realize that whoever stole it, flew it there? Or maybe you don't.

I didnt mean it in a bad way. I was just supprised since I had not come across this before.

There is no doubt a lot more things that some of us havent even seen before, which is always a nice supprise for anyone.

You have to admit, the AI often takes us all by supprise! (unless you wrote it, in which case you expect it to do certain things...)

Naw, it even takes its creator by surprise. Makes me think of when the intruders were taking hostages.

Anyway no chance of recovering it as I was attacked and destroyed as soon as I turned around to go back for the SC.

I'm such a n00b

Back to reading the manual...

Well, since the surprise was spoiled by you being destroyed anyway...it was a setup. Just for kicks, try taking a ship into Pluto's atmosphere as see what happens.
