Rico Jansen
As I'm now (acting) 1st squadron leader, what exactly is my assignment? In your post here above you state this: Gamma Wing, 86 Commander, 8th Squadron (Except for me it's '16 Commander' for 1st squadron.)But in your 'final-but-1st-squadron-under-Alfa-Wing' picture in the 'fleet structure' post I am assigned as "16 Leader".Which one? '16 Commander' doesn't really signal a leading position, as everyone but the highest are a commander by rank. Or the '6' and 'Commander' (of the squadron) make this title sound double (following the staff title mechanism, Sx6='leading man of wing'). And '16 Leader' doesn't really feel right in my mind. But that's just me. What would be with the rest of the squadron. '11 doing-something-in-squadron'? Can't this position just be named '(1st) Squadron Leader'. Sounds flashy enough. As I've seen several different titles in this forum about my position, I am confused by this. I need some clarity to update my sig.------------------ Cmdr. Thomas Siemens
Rico, your signature says it correctly: Gamma Wing, 16 Commander, 1st Squadron means you are assigned to the Gamma Wing, 1st Squadron. You are also its leader, thus the x6 "job", because number 6 is always leader. Sorry for the confusion...Btw., if you don't like the 16, leave it out. Just be aware that it's you if this appeared in Comm messages.[This message has been edited by Thomas Siemens (edited 03-06-2000).]
Thomas Siemens
As I have said in some other place, there is no rule that tells you to use plain text for all your signature. I, for example, use bold text for the 1st line, and italics for the quote line. This is not reserved for my use only - if you liked it that way, use it!Regards.------------------ Fleet Cmdr. Thomas Siemens
Gentlemen,Our Supreme Commander himself set up final rules for the signatures, to be read here: quote: Despite several attempts in the past to end this confusion, especially as it pertains to sigs, some just choose to do what the hell they like. So, once again, I am forced to step in. This is what I'm going to do. Next week, I'm going to go thru the FD and if I find any bogus ranks in there, not fitting my specs, I will delete the record and that person will not be allowed back in that database or on the 3000AD servers. To those of you who choose to use sigs, even though you don't have to, if I find, anyone using the improper format in their sigs, even if its off by a character, you will also face similar action. If this isn't clear, I suggest that some of you go find an interpreter pretty darn quick.A classic example of an improper sig, is Ristar's. Dunno where he got that medal from, even though I explicitly indicated that no medals or ranks should be awarded to any person, without my prior approval and only based on experience and rank, gained from our multiplayer servers. And that Shogun of the Dragon Council...blah, blah, wtf? That is allHere is the sig format:------------------------------ Rank - Cmdr Name Ship Name (if any), Primary Launch Base location (if any) Duty designation (if any) - Fleet/Div Medal Abbrev (if any) Webpage URL (if any)e.g.Supreme Commander Derek Smart GCV Warmonger, GALCOMHQ (EARTH) Fleet Leader - Prime Fleet OOU 1, SOM 1, EOA 1, CMS 6, PS 4, OTW 2, CS 5, AFG 5 http://www.3000ad.com Also, answering a question if we may keep our quotes: quote:Yes, you can keep you quotes as well as your Beta testing sig ID.So, you are strongly advised to change your sigs!Regards.------------------ Fleet Cmdr. Rattler
I'm not your Fleet Leader RM, but I'll fix it for you. GalcomHQ it shall be.Thomas, if you wanted him out there at Starpath, please go go his profile and transfer him back.Upon reviewing the Data Base, RM I'm not going to move you. I think your Fleet Leader has Beta Wing stationed at Starpath. Both members of Beta are located at Starpath. Thomas Siemens
Yep, Rico is right with those stations. Btw., I assigned all commanders to their right launch base and set the according zone as default. We have to fine tune this, once BCM has started... Thomas Siemens
One additional rule from the SC: quote:And btw, the quote/motto line should be whatever your fleet/wing uses, nothing else. This means that if a wing has a motto, then everyone in said wing, should have the same quote/motto line - not some random rambling. Okay, then. All you commanders that are part of a Wing use your Wing's motto, to be set up by your Wing Leader. I don't want any more single ship's mottos here. (Fleet staff members and those commanders inside Prime who are not assigned to any wing may use their old quotes/mottos until further notice.)Also, be sure to use the given signature syntax, like: Prime Fleet, Alpha Wing, 2nd Squadron 16 Squadron Leader - Prime Fleet, Gamma Wing, 1st Squadron S45 Staff Chief, and CO Starpath - Prime Fleet, Delta Wing S36 Wing Leader - Prime Fleet, Gamma Wing G1 Personnel Officer, G4 Logistics Officer, and CO SB Earth - Prime Fleet (The last example is for those poor guys who have to do two jobs. )Regards.------------------ Fleet Commander Joe Gudihl GCV Dark Star, GALCOM HQ (Earth) G6 Fleet Leader - Prime Fleet "Remember, we are trained professionals... Maxamillian
Thomas-Check out my profile on the db. I registered but do not seem to be recognised yet. I go away for a week and everything starts to move. Thanks in advance for looking into this. Would you get some factual info. on the logo or motos of individual ships. Rattler
Thomas, I could be wrong but just in case I'm not, be advised. I think the SC said that All wing members must use the motto of their wing, assigned by their wing leader. If none, they must use the one signed by their Fleet Leader. If he has none, none shall be used by any fleet member. So the statement of allowing your unassigned members of staff to use their own jeopradizes your entire fleet. Thomas explains it very well in the 5th post from the top in this thread there is also a link to another thread in his post where sig where talked about.BTW welcome back!! Papi
Infact no, you should add launch station "Genesis, Moon" and take away squadron name.
