Guest Posted March 11, 2000 Report Posted March 11, 2000 From an old thread, here's the return of the Wraith Tactical Database! >>>>>>>>>Wraith Fleet Tactical Database<<<<<<<<Note:All Tactics are tested 10 times, each under different conditions and given an effectiveness percentage based on the resultsTactic Name:Starstation Siege Tactic Submitted By: Flt. Cmdr. Daniel "Tac" Londono Tactic Category: TacOps->Fleet C&C Tactic Effectiveness: 95% Requirements: 1)Have C&C of at least 2 more PTA-capable Cap Ships (Battlecruisers preffered). 2)Player's BC must have Linear S/III or IV Shielding (Shield rating 2500+) *SHIELDS ARE CRITICAL IN THIS TACTIC. YOU NEED THEM TO WITHSTAND MISSILE IMPACTS* 3)Cargo Bay loaded with Starflash Missiles (optional!) Tactic Description:This tactic can be used in any situation. It is recommended for Siege of a Starstation and for those annoying moments when your ship is under attack by a great number of fighters.How-To:*Step 1*The tactic is simple in execution, all you have to do is put your ship on AUTOPILOT, hop into TacOps and order each ship in your fleet to SAD orders, then issue a "FLY-TO--> PLAYER's SHIP" command to each ship.If the region you are in contains a Starstation, you MUST have your BC and your fleet AWAY from it. To do this, issue a TacOps "FLY TO" order to all your fleet to the nearest location AWAY from the planet. DEBRI Fields preffered. Why this? Simple, if you order them to escort you, they will collide with your ship and worse yet, they will engage any hostile in the region and persue it (which is something you DONT want to happen in this tactic). If you are near the station or the planet, you could lose your fleet or your BC could enter planetfall.*Step 2*Order you BC on SAD and then order a HALT. Your BC should read "SAD, HALT" in its status. Why This?Once you order you BC on Halt, it will stop on its tracks. The ships in your Fleet will not collide with you, they will fly around your ship and never stray from you (which is EXACTLY what we want in this tactic). *Step 3*Turn on your PTA and set it to either 20% or 60% depending on the situation (you will know when to set each, believe me!).Launch 2 IC's and give them the same "FLY TO" command mentioned in STEP 1. Why This? You now have 2 Galactans with their own PTA's on circling your ship giving your formation an AWESOME firepower. Add your own PTA into the picture and you will have a deadly flotilla. Launch 2 IC's if you expect the fight to take a long time (AKA siege of a Starstation), or launch all 4 if your opposition consists of fighters only and ONLY WHEN there is no starstation around. If there is a station around you risk losing one of your IC's to a cap ship or to the station itself. *Step 4*This is the fun and agonizing part.:-) By now the Starstation or the enemy must be slashing at your Fleet, so all you have to do now is keep an eye on your fleet (dont want to lose ANY ships). Leave your BC alone, it will defend itself with its PTA. All you have to do is to command your IC's and NEVER (and I repeat NEVER) let them follow a retreating ship to the Starstation (if there is one in the region) OR NEVER let them jump into a situation where they will be outnumbered (aka, another nav location thats swarming with enemy fighters just waiting for your IC to jump in near them).Chances are, 99% of the time you will NOT be able to prevent your IC's from jumping into those situations, so if they do, order them to "FLY-TO" your ship INMEDIATELY. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your IC's. You have been warned.Once the opposition has been wiped out without any losses to your fleet (yes, this HAPPENS if you follow this tactic...well, you may lose an IC if you ever lose track of them, but still!). Things to Remember: Your BC and the BC's in your Fleet are ok by themselves. You MUST keep track of your 2 (or 4) IC's at all times. If this tactic is to succeed, you MUST keep your IC's within the NAV area of your BC's so the IC's can benefit from their PTA protection.Lets say your BC's PTA a ship into near death and that ship manages to fly out of PTA range or hyperjump out. You send your IC's against it to finish the job and then you MUST return them close to your BC, otherwise your IC's will keep on fighting in that area, alone, without PTA support. They WILL die. :-). Tactic Variations: You may use more than 2 BC's, it will give you more firepower but it will also give you more ships to keep track of. You may add a cruiser force to provide Missile cover (those cruisers LOVE to fire missiles). The important thing is to put all ships on FLY TO and SAD order to have them circling your BC (which MUST be on HALT).Another variation is to release your BC from AUTOPILOT and set a speed of 2 or 3, point towards any point in space and then go to TacOps and then direct the battle just as you would if the BC was on HALT. This variation MAY work for those without the shield upgrade, as it may help the PTA shoot down incoming missiles, I tried this and worked just as well as with a ship on HALT.IF THERE IS A STARSTATION ON THE REGION:Same procedure, except that once the station runs out of fighters it will not send out its cruisers to engage you unless a BC or Cap Ship flies near the Station. Once you reach this "impasse" point, order your Fleet to "FLY-TO" to the nearest HAZARD (comet or debri field or if none present, a nav point away from the planet). This includes any IC's you have deployed. You do NOT want your IC's near your BC in the next step. Now, order your BC to fly to the ODS and take it out. Then wait for your Hyperjump engines to power up and issue a "Fly To" order to your BC to fly to Starstation. When the BC is near enough, the station will launch its cruisers. MORE MEAT ON THE TABLE!.Get out of TacOps (aka, go to bridge), select an enemy Cruiser, set is as a FATAL target (by pressing "d"),Set your PTA to 50% and then return to TacOps. Voila! The Cruiser you selected is now YELLOW! Now you can tell it apart from the other cruisers. Now order your BC to attack that cruiser (BC ORDERS-> Attack-> Fatal->Cruiser) and watch. Your BC will most probably accelerate as it dives into the first attack run. If your BC has good shields (Linear S IV) it can stay around a bit and maybe destroy the Cruiser, but if it has Linear S III or II, your best chance is to allow your BC to perform one or 2 (or maybe 3) passes at the enemy cruiser and then bug out. Why? Simple! Those cruisers are not stupid! They will NOT stray away from the starstation (which is launching those big whammo missiles at you... hey, did I forget to mention to turn the EMD on? Hehe). Once your BC has destroyed the Cruiser (or done 2 or 3 passes and has NOT killed it) order your BC to FLY TO the ODS. This will take your BC out of harm's way, (FAR away from those big whammo missiles) and will allow your BC to recharge its shields. At this point, if your BC did not kill the cruiser but DID strip its shields off and damaged it, you might want to send in your IC's (all of them) with attack orders (to attack that damaged cruiser). Your IC's will hyper in and launch a missile as soon as they jump near the cruiser. Then, depending on the proximity of the cruiser to the starstation you might want to let the IC's do a pass or two at the cruiser and then you MUST order them to "FLY TO" the HAZARD or nav point they came from. Stations and IC's = Dead IC, so do not leave your IC's near that station.Once your IC's hyper out, you have your shield-recharged BC attack the cruiser (or if the cruiser was destroyed, you select another cruiser as FATAL and attack that one).Repeat until all cruisers are gone. After that the only threat is the Starstation itself. I have absolutely no clue as to how to conduct a Starstation attack via TacOps, so until I find out or someone tell me how, you MUST manually fly the BC as you take out the Station. Results: Your Fleet will not lose any ships (if you keep track of them), your IC's will gain CONSIDERABLE experience and you will have control of the region (if no Starstation around).Thats all for this tactic! Hope you enjoy it.Compliments of the Wraith Fleet!I will Post some other Wraith Tactics on this thread after I test them. Wraith Fleet Members please submit any tactics you may have in the same format I have above. Send me a pic if possible (GIF OR JPG please, no BMP's or PCX's in my mailbox!!!!!!!!). ------------------ Flt. Cmdr. J.Smith Posted March 12, 2000 Report Posted March 12, 2000 A good way to earn a lot of cash is to send your minening drones to the surface.Launch one interceptor and lower your sheilds.Switch to the interceptor and fire your lasers twice at hte rear of the BC.Re-dock the interceptor and go the nearest starstation for repairs. When you launch again your drones are full. Now sell the ore.------------------ Commander J.Smith GCV-ROSETTA 3rd squadron,Corsair Wing Stationed,Starbase Cerberus ICQ#67121847 EST "choose your allies wisely, for they may turn against you." =WRAITH FLEET=
