One of the things I like about MP

One of the things that I REALLY like about Multiplayer is the way that the game continues in the backround even when you go into the screens, or dock at a station. It's just a lot more realistic that way. I was wondering if there was any way of enabling this on the Single Player mode by messing with the INI files or something, or is this something that is only hard coded into the MP executable?
