Can I -remember- it all when playing? ::snorts:: I try...Unless I switch to outside view, I can't seem to find an altitude gage. I've shaved one too many mountaintops off planetside. Also, when I use the o button, I don't leave orbit! Auto p is on. I seem to be having a problem with Thrust as well ::sigh:: I'm having a ball, but the fix for this seems to escape me. I'm using a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick. 8 buttons, most useless here ::smirk:: Any impute appreciated for this eager student.------------------ Cmdr. Wold Posted October 20, 2000 Report Posted October 20, 2000 I've run the BC planet side and you just have to keep the nose up. I use the ms ff joystick and all 8 buttons(16 w/shift button) and it works just fine for me, including the throttle. Remember, you have to use enough vertical thrust to get past the planet's escape velocity. Actually parking one without damage (ouch, skid marks ) takes a fine hand on the controls, I tell you. cmdr Keeling Posted October 21, 2000 Report Posted October 21, 2000 I fly the bc planetside all the time (to give my crew a rest) and as for landing i find the best way is to give the AP the halt command and let it slowly sink to the ground. You will take some damage(no more than about 5% on any system) but it is a safe way to rest up your crew when you dont have heavy damage to repair at a star station(or you think that is a "cheat"). As for getting space bound, you just have to fly straght up un till it goes to space, useing the afterburner of course. ------------------ Cmdr. Steve Schacher Posted October 23, 2000 Report Posted October 23, 2000 I just got sucked into a planetary gravity well.The 'O' key worked for me, but I had to F8 to an external view before I could see what my altitude was.
Supreme Cmdr Posted October 23, 2000 Report Posted October 23, 2000 The BC was not designed for planetary ops, so it does not have an altitude tape in the HUD.I have added this in BCM because going to the planet is the second way to die and I expect everyone to experience that at least once in their career.
