Hello there;

I've been lurking around and haven't seen a suggestion board, so I suppose I'll post this here. :-)

There's a couple things I think would be cool for BCM expansion packs; firstly, something to make trade easier.

I think it's reasonable to say that in the future when this all takes place, being able to record a station's trade manifest would be possible. It would really assist trade if you could go to a station, get it's current manifest, and check your computers to see where you get the best prices for the various items. Of course, the price may change at the station by the time you get back with goods to buy/sell, but at least it's something better than writing all the countless BCM trade items down on paper :-)

Secondly, it would be really cool if you guys would release the deck plans for the various ships. It seems like there's some kind of rhyme or reason to the layout of the ships, as obviously people are moving around on it as you can see on Perscan. I think it would be cool if we could see the actual maps, if not in the actual game, than at least through the web browser or something. I'm sort of a ship design geek, I was so happy when I got cutaway diagrams of the Star Trek ships ;-)

That's really it; great game guys!

It had to happen. First with the insane countdowns, now this.

OK, lets see...

  1. Trading bit sounds doable, but the question is, where you do output the information for later viewing? I suppose it could be piped into the commlink log. So, there would be an option in Tradecom to Record Prices which then writes it into the log file, which you can then view later via COMMLINK. No, I'm not putting another Frontend interface into the game. So, don't anyone even think about it.
  2. I had planned on doing that at one time and making Perscan into a 3D interface. But time contraints prevented it. This will definitely be in BCTC (since the levels would already exist as-is and won't need any pre-processing) but not in any BCM add-ons.

Well, at least I'm not begging for this to be in a patch of the current game! :-) That would be evil, mwahahaha :-)

As for the trade thing, that would work great. I must say, I've never seen a game where you can save the manafests of the stations/seaports/whateverOutpostAppliesToGame. As it stands, trade's pretty difficult. Love all the goods, but geez that's a lot of stuff to write down! :-D Any kind of auto-record would be a great help.

As for the ships, I was more thinking along the lines of 2-D deckplans or cutaways posted on the web or something, not actually adding a graphic display to perscan (even though that would sure be cool ;-) ). Especially if you guys already have some drawings lying around. It's partially curiosity factor, though it's also useful. In the manual it mentions when you have intruders, you should move your AE around when they get close to him ... but how do you know if they're close, if ya don't know what your ship's laid out like? :-)

Though admittedly the deck plans are more curiosity factor than useful, I just figured I'd throw the idea out there on the off chance you already had them or something :-)

Thanks again!

Hey guys...

Well this is my first post but I thought I would put my two cents in about the trade manifests...why not add a simple print button that would printout all the info if you wanted...?? This would be a quick fix you could probably throw in a patch...

Anyways I'm lovin the game, confused as heck most of the time but for the first time ever I found a game I have to read the manual...heh....oh btw tried to land on Saturn just for kicks love the graphics there!

No. I don't think so. Prices fluctuate frequently, so you'd have to print out a new copy by the time you found a station with decent prices.

I'm, for now, making a guide on the Inflation, Tech, etc. for Stations in the game, at the start of the game. This stuff used to be in the BC3k appendix, but it ain't in the BCM one. Leaves some exploring to do, so it's cool. And it gives me something to do while I'm bored.

Also, I'm thinking a thing like a live manifest database could be on a BCO wishlist. (BCO: Battlecruiser Online, the massively multiplayer online sequel to BCM----formally called Galactic Command Online: GCO)

Traders could go to some part of the site, or go into some part of the game interface, where they can see a customized list of items at specific favorite places. And they can also get a total listing of the items and all the stations.

I'm thinking something between a mix of stock market tickers, and those EP and Combat Kills counters on the Fleet Database. All in BCO, of course.

Here's another idea for trading;

Maybe there could be a guild or in-game service where you pay credits to access trade information across an area of the galaxy. Of course it would have to be expensive because this would be a very powerful trading tool, maybe too powerful. Oh well, just a thought :-)

If I do put it in, it could print to a file and output to the commlink log at the same time.
