The original topic you posted, is EXACTLY the reason nobody but mods and admins are allowed to create new topics in the tech support section.

So please tell me why i can't post in the support forum ?

It tells me i 'm not allowed to post here !

It was for an issue of BCM...

Just for saying some sattellites of jupiter or saturn being totally transparent viewed by a certain angle while in tacops or in tactical view (F9-F10).

Please don't flame me !!!

"a certain angle while in tacops or in tactical view (F9-F10)."

Not a flame, but if it didnt your FPS might go to zilch. You are viewing the planet from a point where your camera view is actually "inside" the planet, thats when it becomes transparent.

I've had this too. Lemme go get a screenshot.

Try to view EarthStar in Jupiter (using F10), and change the view, so it aims right towards the planet. The planet goes semi-transparent, and framerates take a huge hit.

Alrighty. Here it is. It starts with this (non-glitched), and turns into this, if you get the camera in a specific angle.

It seems to make the moon actually disappear, while putting a white overlay over the whole screen. I think this is the thing netshaman is talking about.

1. Those images show NOTHING

2. This has already been discussed. If the planet (or ANY model) is BVR*, it won't be rendered. Try launching from a station, then target a jump gate. Engage HJ and then activate the F4 view. As you move away from the planet/moon, it will go BVR and no longer be rendered. It is a performance enhancer. And that nonsense above frame rates taking a hit because of that, it just that: nonsense.

SC dont be quite so hard on him he does have a point I get it in Jupiter but have been too scared to explain

Basically, when you get near one of the moons, it turns a ruddy brown transparent colour, the frame rate takes a huge hit, and it is generally wierd...

See above.

And the transparency is zero frame rate hit. There are a LOT of moons in that one region (and also Uranus, Saturn etc). Unless you have the power to handle it, don't go there if you are running at high res and in 32-bit color mode.

urm, well my KT7-RAID and Geforce 2 MX should be able to handle it. I can see why now, but they dont go grey like the others.

hmmm never tried that... then again i never had the urge to go to an external camera whilst next to a planet either... better watch out, SC is liable to jump off the top rope and drop an elbow on yall.

Thats one of the reasons why regions with a lot of moons, e.g. Jupiter, have sub-regions rather than have the planet and ALL its moons in one region. You'd NEVER be able to run it without a 2Ghz, 512MB, GF3 rig - especially if a massive battle ensues.
