Gamestop exclusive ACM campaign

Earlier today I deleted a thread started by Fermin and sent him PM about it. Which, in itself, sparked a stupid debate which I'd rather not even bother going into.

But, in order to deter the next person who - without actually thinking - decides to create a new unwarranted thread, here is an excerpt from my lengthy PM reply to him. Treat it as an urge suppressant.

1. You posted in the wrong forum
   
2. You posted incorrect data, which, had you actually checked, you would have notice was, in fact, incorrect
   
3. You don't just up and create a thread just because you bloody well feel like it. It needs a reason and a purpose. This has ALWAYS been the case around here.
   
4. You never even verified what you posted by trying the other scenarios to see how they were handled. No, you saw it, you decided you were going to post about it.

The ACM script that I've played before in the older version of the game NEVER overrode my settings.

DS:

All scripts behave differently depending on whether they are ROAM, ACM. IA or TA. ALL scripts CAN overwrite Start New Game settings. I opted to do that in the GameStop exclusive scenarios because

1. I wanted the script to use specific race/caste/career/asset settings in the same way I do in other scripts (usually IA/TA which do not permit you to change those settings)
   
2. That ACM scenario takes place in a completely different galaxy which only has a select group of race/caste units. As such, allowing the player to choose e.g. Falkerie/Raider to play a script designed for Terran/Military in a region populated by Terran/Gammulan/Empirian/Insurgent entities, would cause problems.

People, never tell any developer what his software can or cannot do...you'll lose every time. Just ask almost any beta testers, we have the scars to prove it.

If you've found what you think is a bug and want to post about it, fine but be prepared to be grilled by the SC. If he didn't grill people, bug reporting would degrade into chaos. Of course, if you'd rather skip the grilling, PM it to one of the many beta testers floating around here. I mean, that's what we do among ourselves when we're unsure about a bug. We don't do it to avoid a grilling but to avoid wasting Derek's time.

Lose or not in this discussion, I did NOT post incorrect data. Every line that I said was both accurate AND I verified it TWICE. After our discussion, I felt kind of stupid or something so I decided to check again and AGAIN had the same problem with the Marines.

Sorry for posting on the "Wrong" Forum, but my data was correct. Now I'm going to have a cold one and suggest you do the same.

Marines? wtf has your question (which I still have saved btw) about ACM scenarios got to do with marines???? There was NO mention of ANYTHING to do with marines in that message because it has NOTHING to do with how the ACM scenario works.

I'll say it again, I've always been one of your biggest promoters, I've told all my friends about this great "Gem" of a game and bought BCMG even before it came out. I've posted a lot of things on this board and NEVER anything negative or derogatory about the game and if this one "Breach" of a posting gets me banned, so be it.

If you are treating me this way because you are having a bad day (problems with Multiplayer and all) and want to beat someone up over it, fine I'll be your punching bag and all is forgiven.

What has that got to do with ANYTHING? Do you really, truly think that I'm shallow enough to give you - or ANYONE - a free pass just because they have always been one of my biggest supporters? 2. I'm not calling you a liar - I think my PM was pretty clear and I don't see this inference anywhere in it.
   
3. If you're offended by my attitude, then you need to STOP posting on the boards and just, well, LEAVE?. I find nothing wrong with my PM to you. If your are offended by it, thats your problem. I didn't write it in order to offend. And I certainly wouldnt' have sent you a PM telling you why I deleted the thread. Usually we just delete threads because we do NOT owe ANYONE an explanation of why a thread was deleted, closed etc.

See the first paragraphe I wrote in this PM. I thank you for your support of THE GAME. And I don't give a rat's about how you feel about me and whether you support me or not. That is IRRELEVANT to me. I'm a game developer, not a diplomat or a politician. If you're buying my games because of any reason other than the enjoyment they bring you, there's this bridge I'd like to sell you. A LOT of people like my games and hate me. I don't lose any sleep over it. I'm not out to make friends, win friends, organize cookouts or give ANYONE a free pass just because they support me. Those are my values and they are not subject to ANY sort of compromise or breach.

Exactly. When I first started a campaign, and my settings were overridden, I assumed that's how it's supposed to work and that I was supposed to fly a MK 1. BTW SC, is that guy gone permenantly?

Thats not the point actually. Its not so much about telling a developer what his software can/cannot, but the fact that even after I explained it to him, that wasn't enough. I even went to the extent of sending him PM telling him why I deleted his post. That just did more harm than good.

And even after I posted the relevant section of my PM reply to him, that wasn't enough. He goes and compounds the problem by posting (above) something completely unrelated to the issue we were discussing and then sending me yet another PM, this time an obnoxious one and went to the extent of calling me names.

I disabled his ability to post, but I didn't delete his profile (like I normally would) just yet. The first time I get email from him - or anyone else about this, I'm deleting his profile and anyone else who sends me email or PM about it.

I simply do NOT have time for this. And people who think that I run this site based on favoritism, are sadly misguided and simply don't know enough about me.

I just denied this Fermin's registration over at the Prime Fleet Commanders Forum. Then he sent an email to my webmasters account trying to plead his case. Just for the record it don't work that way people. If Derek restricts your posting rights or bans you here you have no chance of getting on Prime's board.

Or anywhere else for that matter.

It doesn't matter whether his bug is valid or not, his actions overshadowed his worth to the community and so he is gone. Not one of use as players is so indispensable to this game that we couldn't be banned.

I'm looking for documentation on the Gamestop exclusive campaign. For example, what is the campaign about? What race, caste, is it designed for? Is it even suitable for a newb like me? And most importantly, how do I access the campaign?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I've checked the board (comprehensive search), vcf, readme, FAQ, and game documentation and there seems to be very little about this.
