CaptnKarob Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I'm not entirely sure where this post belongs so forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I am building a custom cockpit simulator to enhance the immersion/realism for gameing/simulations. The cockpit will be loosely based on a modern fighter jet cockpit. BCMG is the first game I will set it up for. Since I am a noob, I was hoping to get some suggestions from the vets about the layout. I will be using a keyboard encoder to send any keystrokes to the PC when I push a button or flip a switch in the cockpit so all BCMG keyboard commands can be represented with it's own button or switch. What I am getting stumped on right now is where the best placement for these switches would be. My Joystick will be on the right and my throttle on the left. I will have a right-hand switch panel in front of the joystick and a left-hand panel in front of the throttle. A/B and R/R buttons will be on the throttle control and possibly weapons select (Shift-W) as well. How would you group/place the keyboard commands? Also, has anyone else done this for BC? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
CaptnKarob Posted August 14, 2003 Author Report Posted August 14, 2003 What? No ideas? How about this -- those of you with HOTAS joysticks/throttles - what BCMG commands do you program into the buttons on the controllers? Also - for those of you with Game Commander or similar voice recognition software - what commands do you use voice for?
Epsilon 5 Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 hmm this is a complex project you hope for ... i dunno what to suggest though.

You got that right! I have to wire up over 100 switches for BCM alone - let alone make panels for the other games/sims I like. This is gonna be so COOL when it is finished though! I just wish BCMG had multi-monitor support so the MFDs (NID< TACSCAN, & CVD) could be displayed in separate monitors. I can't imagine a real starship with only one viewscreen! hint, hint
