I tried to ask about this before but my post vanished. I don't have time to go into as much detail as last time but i'll fill in the gaps later if need be.

I'm having a problem with enemy marines on planets. When I invade an enemy base no enemy marines attack me. I have even patched to the most current patch.

Without patching at all, enemy marines poor out of the buildings and attack me.

with the 1.07 patch there are no enemies.

1.07 script update - still no enemies

1.08rc23 still no enemies

1.08rc25 still no enemies

anyone have any idea whats wrong? please help!

It vanished because you are posting in the wrong forum, and you have not looked through all the forum sections listed at the top.

The SC is very picky about this. I know because I get blasted a lot too

So, read all the sections listed at the top of this forum, add your signature and link to your system specs.

Repost your questions in the BC Newbie Discussions.

That's why it got deleted. Hope this helps.

Cheers!

its not a newbie question though. The game is not working right. there are no enemy marines on planets after I patch. its not a question about how to play. and I have read everything i could find on this board trying to fix it.

This was already discussed and it listed in the VCF.

If you had actually installed the scripts update which the downloads page clearly indicates that you need for 1.0.07, you won't have this problem. You obviously assumed that this file is on that page just for the heck of it.

If you are using any version higher than 1.0.07, you don't need the scripts update.

If you are not engaged, then you didn't apply the patch properly. Learn how to do this by reading the VCF.

Well then just add your sig

I'm just saying post it in the newbie discussion because it's probably the safest place to post [eyes scan sideways...] heh.

OK. You're a noob and proud of it. So, get in here! Anything goes, as long as you've READ the manual *AND* the appendix.

From my little experience here, if you think you've found a problem, you'd better examine the hell out of it, document everything you've done and only when you're 100% sure it's a problem post it. Because if it isn't the SC will convey textual sentiments that will make you run away and hide for days at a time. [believe me, I know]

I'm just telling you to take the safest way I can see so you can avoid some unnecessary tensions.

Cheers!

I have read the how to start from scratch with a patch and the vcf several times but just reread them again. It still seems like I did everything right. this is what I did....

for the script update i copied the two files in it into the data folder and over wrote the two files in there that had the same names.

"If you had actually installed the scripts update which the downloads page clearly indicates that you need for 1.0.07, you won't have this problem. You obviously assumed that this file is on that page just for the heck of it."

I assumed its on what page? I downloaded this file from the download section.

for the patches I copied them into the folder...

C:Program Files3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium

and ran them from there. the 3000ad box says version 1.08rc25 on it during the booting up part.

I have been working on this for about a week, reading everything I could on this board and I just don't see what i'm doing wrong. plz help!

well, another person is having the same problem as you.

see the thread here.

I have yet to deploy my marines/assests on an enemy base to test this out in RC25. If/when i do, I'll tell you what happens to me as well.

Cheers!

We're already aware of this issue.

Please, please, please help!

Just re-installed Windows2000 with SP3. Updated all drivers (video/sound) and DX8.1 & Media Player 7.1. Installed BCM and patached to RC25.

I played the game with no probs except that no marines where attacking me (I know this has been reported but this is not my only prob) in FP so I read elsewhere that this maybe a patch install prob.

Un-installed game and re-installed but the same thing but I also noticed something else which only happened after re-installing. I know this is NOT game related but for some reason when down on planets in FP, the BACKSPACE button does not work to toggle walk/run!

I checked that the button does work by using it in notepad.

So I un-installed game and re-installed again and patched only to 1.07. Same thing. Patch all the way up to RC25 and each step had same results.

I re-loaded the keyboard layout in Windows, restarted and still not working!

This is the only time I have ever seen this happen. I can't understand it as it was working before I re-installed the game. Like I said, I know this is not game related but system related (but WHAT?).

BTW, the marines still do not engage me. I just want to clarify what I'm doing to reproduce this.

1. start new game, select cammander career and BC mk3.

2. launch, goto tactical and move AE to transporter.

3. Goto tacops and select earth and goto mission zone 120 Ter/Ins base.

4. beam down inside the base and shoot at things. No enermy come out to engage.

Please can someone reply and not delete the post. I'd rather be shouted at for stating the bleeding obvious than to be ignorned. Am I being stupid and missing something simple?

ok, first off, thank you for coming out with a patch to fix this so quickly.

A problem I was having with shuttles and mining drones is fixed. That is working great now.

For the marines, they are attacking me on enemy bases... sorta. They only are shooting at my marines, not me. They also seem to come out in very small numbers if I teleport outside the base and run in. I will see one enemy every once in awhile. If I beam straight into the base there are lots of enemy marines.

Also, the enemy just kinda stand around allot. So do my marines, but it seems like not as much. They don't shoot very much at all. And my marines when told to escort me stay very far back. This would be a problem if I was in danger but like I said, I never get shot at.

Also when the enemy marines are dieing they are dropping to the prone position like they are still alive then dissapearing.

I am hoping that this is not the way its supposed to be. Even if the enemy shot at me, my rate of fire is so much higher then the enemy and the fact that I side step and they just stand there would allow me to take out an entire base by myself. Anyone who has ever played a first person shooter will find the enemy marines as they are now very easy to deal with.

Would it be possible to at least give them the same rate of fire as me and make them move around or stand still at random?

Try using the DIE and changing to the HMT filter then cycle the targets. I'm sure you'll find one that is targeting you. Assuming it can see you.

This depends on the detection parameters of the units sending them out.

What do you expect them to do if they don't have a firing solution? Fire blindly? They won't.

Lucky you!

They're not supposed to be hugging you. Escorting you means just that : escorting you. And they will keep a safe distance....knowing that you're likely to do something stupid and get them all killed.

And the problem is what exactly?

It is. And there are no plans to change anything. It all works as designed.

They use the same weapons and have the same rate of fire. They don't just fire like complete idiots - and waste ammo....like most gamers would.

Newsflash!! BCM is not a first person shooter.

See above
