Nakaleen
After playing BCMG and my friend's UC (Still trying to get mine from EB) I have noticed a couple of things that I have been wondering about. First, Castes. Some I can see how they work (trade, police etc..) but others like Planet Support (shuttle) and Paramedics. Can you transport wounded people as a Paramedic? Besides commanding a unarmed transport I cxan see the usefullness. But if it can do extra stuff then I would be very keen to try it. Second, Guests. WHen I see the roster, There is a guest list....? Where can you get guests. Is it like in Frontier wher you can transport people for money? The BCMG manual only has this about guests.... 'From time to time you will bring diplomats, traders, survivors, dignitaries, etc, on-board your ship. These people are classified as guests and should be treated with the utmost respect. Guests are never trouble for you so your primary task is to keep them alive until you get them to their destination or until they leave your ship by other means.' How can I get them on borad? I haven't played anything other then Roam. Is it possable to get guests in Roam mode? Other then those, UC and BSMG which Istill play on my compouter (untill EB finally sends me my UC hehehe) Is one hell of a game. THe only game that tried to do what Elite/Frontier couldn't. Grizzle
No guests in ROAM, I think they are used for the ACM campaign.
aphelion7
quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: No guests in ROAM, I think they are used for the ACM campaign. You know what would be cool... you could dock up to stations and find diplomats, etc that need transported to certain locations... kinda like a intergalactic taxi service! =) That would be kinda neat though, come on! Supreme Cmdr
Yeah, but its a combat game - not a taxi service.
DennyMala
...well those diplomats may attract the attentions of assassins or mercenaries.... so you'll get more fights...
Nakaleen
Thats what I was thinking. Plus Intruders would target them, forceing you to send troops to guard the guests etc....
Gol_Stoan
Maybe even get some extra experience points for capturing diplomats on enemy stations. How about some more enlisted personnel: a cook and and a couple of messcranks to run the galley, some guys to clean the toilets and polish the brasswork and such, and some nonqual puke to polish Resnig's shoes and bring him coffee. br
So... I take it you're trying to make it so you actually need all 1500 nutripacks you start with? ;p It would be cool to be able to pick up diplomat's, generals, assault teams, field trips from middle schools, and other human cargo for transport. Even if it is a combat game, more dimensions is never bad.
crazybama
Indeed!

Some odd reason I think the idea of the field trips for the little boys and girls to see just how rough our boys have it (in our struggle against those gammulens ok I know not here please, save it for the RP board) Anywho, it would be cool to be honest with you all. This may be a combat game but everyone needs a break from combat every now and then (Hey! Even I give my crew shore leave sometimes I land my CC on earth near a breach, shut down all systems except those that are REALLY needed (like launch control and life support) then release my crew and spend 6 hours in the sun! hehe! scydiver
hi, this is my first post so please corect me if i'm wrong. So far, as i understand, those diplomats dond't do much, but die and decrease your EPs or dock somewhere and encrease them?
Supreme Cmdr
Diplomats, like every other caste in the game, have a specific purpose for being in the game world. They're not just there. No, the game does not have a diplomacy model, but when some castes dock (if they can) at stations, get attacked/destroyed etc, something happens in the game world. scydiver
How does it effect me, the player? And how hard? Especially in ROAM (that i'm personally really fond of. it gives you a galaxy to live in ). for example: If I was assaulting an Insurgent starstation as a Ter/Mil Commander shooting down its assests one after another and captured or destroyed it. At this time a Journalist was autogenerated nearby. Should i expect an enemy fleet on a mission to SAD(They were monitoring Journalit's Space Web site or something and just got the bad news that they have one station less) to punish me for what i just did or will they attack me because their race/caste is hostile to mine in general? Or encrease in autogeneration of Ter/Mil assets (Their prestige is going up and more people are willing to sign up)? Or if a Tourist visits a plnet (in the Manual Appendix it's stated that encreases planet's resource points) will my mining drones gather minerals faster or more expencive ones, will prices at the local starstation go up or down. Will it attract more (or less) other colonists/worriors into the region?
Guest DocHoliday
Scydiver, I think you should check the documentation again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I distinctly remember reading somewhere (docsAppendix I think) that tourists will increase the wealth of the cities/bases they visit. I guess this has no direct effect on the player, but I assume a bigger wealth of a base should mean more spending which in turn should mean more goods available to you as a player at that particular base... Also about journalists: they watch your moves. So if you do any kind of a war crime, even against your enemies, you will get busted for it, thanks to the blabbermouth journalists. If I understand correctly, if you are alone against a bunch of enemies, you're allowed to do practically anything you like. I think destroying a fleeing shuttle may constitute as a war crime.. at least in personal oponion I prefer to try and apprehend the suspects by means of towing. As for diplomats: they seem to have their own tranportation needs, so no need to taxi them, BUT if you want action, just volunteer escort duty. You should see some action along the way. If I recall, assassins and some other castes, make it a point in going after the diplomats. So if you are TER/MIL, escorting a diplomat will serve more than one goal. Gaining EP, gaining goods, gaining AI, plus you are following GALCOM guidelines - stuff about keeping tradelanes safe, aiding diplomacy, etc. It's a free galaxy, be creative
