I have had the game since friday, and everything was working fine untill i came home from work today. Im not sure what did it, but now when i launch UC it crashes for some reason.

When it first happend i would get a black window with blue borders (maximized). I took inventory of what had changed since i had last played. The only thing i had installed since then was the Joan Of Arc Demo (Final Version). After getting rid of that the game still hung at startup. At this point i uninstalled the game and installed it again. The game is still crashing but now the black window is small as if i had an IE window that is not maximized.

The only other thing i could think of is my CD emulation software . im not gonna name it unless you want me to derek, because i dont know how you feel about those type of things, and id hate to upset anyone. I did however uninstall that software and it did not help at all.

Any help you can give i would be very very thankful for.

I also wanted to add, that before this, i was also having problems getting my joystick to work. i own a saitek evo, and its kinda strange, because the buttons do infact work. at least buttons 2-5 do. the 6 function keys dont work (not that im surprised cuz they never do) and buttons 1 and 6 also dont work.

If i should have filled out 2 threads, im sorry in advance. i would have edited my other post, but i just found out thats a time sensitive endevor. sorry about that, lesson learned.

Dunno man, any number of things could have hosed your system. Have you tried uninstalling the game, killing the folder and reinstalling? Also, you might want to reinstall DirectX 9.0b

Yeah, did both of those, before the first post, but forget to mention doing directX. since then i have also reinstalled all of the drivers that UC would use such as sound and video. I also removed any extra devices that are not required. palm, USB gameboy charger, joystick, and the like.

I found no crash logs in the UC directory. Is there a command switch to make the game create something like that? Are there any other command switches that you think may help me gain more information?

After uninstalling UC, I used regedit and went hunting for left over keys, and found none. Regclean also found no unused reg entries. Are there any in particular that i should be looking for? Also just for fun, i went and checked MSconfig to make sure that my same 12 startup programs are running, and that the same services are turned on.

Im at a total loss... what gives

Dunno man, its nothing to do with the game. If it was working before and you can't even get it started now, something's hosed on your end.

Have you tried the -n parameter added to the shortcut?

no i have not. i will when i get home from work tho. Further testing showed me nothing, except what ever the problem is, it only effects UC. COD, NWN, BF1942 and Gothic 2 all work fine, as well as the different appz on my computer. the only thing crashing is UC.
