gnowor Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 OS: WinXP OS Environment: 1280x1024/32bit Game Version: 1.00.02 RC4 Game Type: Roam Career/Race/Caste: Cmdr/Ter/Mil Asset/Launch Base: Firestorm/GALCOM HQ Problem: Shuttle appears stuck in same spot on view screen despite turning/accelerating/decellerating. Should I turn though, the shuttle rotates to stay facing the same direction as it was facing when I ran into it. (So if I rotate 360┬░ on the y-axis the shuttle rotates 360┬░ on it's y-axis while staying in the same position on my viewscreen.) Steps that got me there: [*]1. Go to TacOps and set a waypoint for a Ter/Ins City on Earth while I'm about 60km away from earth. (All of this is occuring while I have intruders on board) [*]2. Enter atmosphere on Manual (not A/P) [*]3. Shoot at the city for awhile. [*]4. Intruder steals SC-3 (I was stupid and didn't turn off launch control like normal). [*]5. I shoot at it for awhile with my main guns but my aim is crud so I try to get closer. [*]6. Get real close to the shuttle and hit M to match speed. [*]7. Shuttle is now stuck on viewscreen as described above. Due to the randomness of some of the occurences on my steps above(having an intruder that just happens to take SC-3 while you're shooting up a TER/INS city on earth), I understand it may be hard to reproduce. I have a savegame available. -Gnowor P.S. I got that form right this time, didn't I? [ 02-25-2004, 07:42 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
Supreme Cmdr Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Yeah, you got it right, but did you read bug #10 in the VCF? Right. So why are you posting this again after I deleted it yesterday? Anyway, send in the saved game along with a copy of this report.
gnowor Posted February 24, 2004 Author Report Posted February 24, 2004 I didn't know if my post was deleted for improper formating or because you were aware of the problem. I did read the VCF and thought that bug #10 sounded similar to my problem but was not sure if it was related or not, given that I received no response to my post. quote: VCF states: "In some cases a craft could attached to a support structure (e.g. a building) and be able to take off and still be attached to it." The reason I still posted was because the way I interpretted that statement was: A craft could be docked/landed/whatever with a support structure, e.g. building/ship/whatever and could take off and still be attached to it. The reason that I felt this was not what my problem was has to do with the "docked/landed/whatever" in my interpretation, or in the original VCF wording "to take off" (needing to be docked/landed first before taking off). As the shuttle I discussed in my post was free-flying when it entered this stuck-state, I felt I had a unique problem. Now that you have responded and stated that my problem is covered under bug #10, I will discontinue posting on this issue. quote: Originally posted by gnowor: I sometimes post about stupid small stuff, only because I know that this is your masterpiece, SC, and in an ideal world, it would be perfect. I let you know about the little things that can bring it to perfection, even if it may mean sounding like a whining n00b sometimes.-Gnowor P.S. I do read the VCF before posting in Tech Support. I didn't used to, but it is common practice now. P.P.S. Check out the new sig.
Supreme Cmdr Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Objects getting stuck to others is a problem with the support structure code. The shuttle is a support structure, as is the gunships, buildings etc. But I do want that saved game or screen shots, so that I can see what exactly is going on in your report.
ouch Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 simularity I was in my storm carrier I decided to attack this fleet of battleships and a carrier floating on the surface of earth. I got a little too close to the aircraft carrier, then when I tried to turn away it was stuck on my CC. I alt-e'd and shot the carrier off of my CC, no harm done. also if it helps, the carrier stayed facing the same direction while I turned.
gnowor Posted February 24, 2004 Author Report Posted February 24, 2004 Screen Shot 1 Screen Shot 2 Screen Shot 3 Screen Shot 4 Saved game sent. Upon further inspection via FPS, it does appear the shuttle is stuck on the top forward "prong" of my firestorm. Never would've thought an intruder would steal a shuttle, and then land on my ship to hitch a ride. Must of left his brain in his locker. -Gnowor Edit: P.S. quote:Originally posted by gnowor: a support structure, e.g. building/ship/whatever I did understand what you meant by support structure. I'm not as dumb as I look. (or is that, I don't look as dumb as I am.)
Supreme Cmdr Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Those screen shots don't show me anything meaningful or remotely useful. I want to see the two objects stuck together - and since this didn't occur to you yet - you can only show that from an external (F9 or F10) camera view of the targets.
gnowor Posted February 24, 2004 Author Report Posted February 24, 2004 Try those links one more time. -Gnowor
Supreme Cmdr Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The carrier is a supply platform, thats why the shuttle landed on it and remains attached to it (in the same way you can if you were walking on it in fp mode). If its one of yours, switch to it and fly it off or give it an order. If its not one of yours, destroy it with guided weaponry.
