Winged_wolf Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 This game seems to be really cool. Im hoping someone has a fix for me so i can actually play it. Whenever i try to start a new character i seem to be unable to type my name or the name of my asset. i click on the field area and type but nothing shows... i have tried several re-installs and i have patched to the latest version as per the 3000ad website. Any help would be great! Thanks all.

Winged_wolf Posted April 14, 2004 Author Report Posted April 14, 2004 Alrighty, all registered and my system is in my sig. maybe i should clarify: The game appears to run fine. no errors no problems... just for some reason i cant type my AE's name or my assets name. i can click in the fields and the cursor shows up here but no key on the keyboard will type anything. Supreme Cmdr Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Wow, you finally got it right Anyway, as far as not being able to type your name, dunno. Try what I suggested above. Also maybe your system does not have the fonts used by the game. Try manually installing the fonts located in the DATA folder via Control Panel and see if that helps. But you should be able to type your name by just left-clicing in the field and start typing. Or you have DX9 installed incorrectly etc etc. As I said, I dunno.

Guest Fox__Trot Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 you cant botch of dx9 much less reinstall it -- I mean its totally AUTOMATED!... anyways this has happened to me once before when I had the wrong keyboard type selected (check the windows CP under printers and other hardware) and reinstall youre keyboard drivers
Malakie-USN Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 SC: Wish I could have helped on this one.. This problem is caused by turning on 3D cards anti-aliasing to full. If this is done, you run into the problem he mentioned.. Actually you can type.. it takes forever for a character to appear however. Not a bug.. just the system trying to alias everything. Turn it OFF or at least down to low anti-aliasing settings and typing works normally. I find on a GForce 4 card that turning AA to 2xQ and turning ON anisotropic filtering to full is the best for BC visually and yet allows typing and no slow down between screens. It also dramatically speeds UP and reduces the delays when new objects are loaded and/or rendered.
